The Vulcan followed along the scale, in a relative major key, changing the pentatonic scale major as he did so. He almost smiled, remembering the person who’d taught him the trick… Subtly, he made every third note a couplet moving flat to natural, giving the progression a certain swing without changing the rhythm. It made the new progression feel almost like a boogie-woogie rock n roll song. As he played, he contemplated Nightstalker, wondering how the man turned up almost everywhere he went…

-Va’rek

Letting Va’rek take over, Koraia simply switched into laying harmony for him. There was something easy about their playing that was rather welcome these days.

Marishka took notice of the Vulcan’s seeming natural musical talent. Turning to glance his way she smiled before returning her attention to Julien and wondering what else this evening had in store. It seemed to be missing a certain crazy spark.

Since nobody else had placed an order with him, he returned a bit later with two tall cocktail glasses in his hand. Both had pitch black liquid at the bottom and firy red liquid in the top half of the glass and while the black liquid didn’t move, the red liquid seemed to boil slightly and red vapor rose from the glasses, despite the iced rim of the glass and the two ice cubes that moved inside the red liquid.

Julien handed one to Marishka with a charming smile. “One erupting volcano for you.” he said and raised a brow at the others.
“Maybe it’s better you didn’t order one, this one is not for the faint of heart.” he said and gave Ghubari a challenging grin.

Stark looked at the evil-looking concoction and wondered why people were so fascinated with finding ways to debilitate themselves. “Is that a drink or a science experiment?” he inquired politely.

Marishka looked at the drink with a critical eye. She was pleased that Ted had let Julien behind the bar in the first place but she knew full well how charming Julien could be. Smiling, she met stark’s eyes.

“Yes.” she said softly and took a long slow drink being certain to taste every bit and licking her lips thoroughly when she was done.

“Oh that was definitely worth the wait. I hope you made a whole vat.” she said to Julien.

Ghubari snorted as she looked up at the others and then focused on Julien. “I don’t know, the last time you and I went drinking we ended up in a bar fight. While I expect more decorum on my ship, you just never know,” she said idly, her tone hard to distinguish whether she was serious or not, though those that knew her well would know she was.

“Oooo, bar fight”, Stark was obviously reminiscing, “Inept, inebriated people trying to do combat moves whilst denying themselves the release of vomiting all over the show.” Stark chuckled, “A cultural must-see for all those who look upon it in wonder and say…”Why?”” He started to laugh a little, “Details please!”

Koraia laughed. It was a good story but she had to be careful not to ruin Julien’s cover. “Oh, this was just after my accident and I was doing rehab at Starfleet Medical. I met Mr Smith during this time and was not in the best place. We ended up drinking away our sorrows at a local bar and in my more clumsy state, I spilled a bit of my drink on a Nausicaan. You can imagine how well that went over.”

Stark barked a short laugh, “Yes, Nausicaan’s are notorious… they don’t taste very good either…”

Julien’s eyes went wide at Stark’s last comment. “Really?” he simply asked Stark.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

Marishka cringed visibly and shook her head.

Stark grimace and bared his canines slightly, “Sometimes in the heat of battle, instincts take over. Never, ever rip the throat out of a Nausicaan with your teeth, words to live by”.

“My good sir. I should either throw you out for ruining my drink or drink much more to forget what you’ve just said.” she said to Stark holding out her empty glass.

Naturally ejecting him from the bar was out of the question.

Ghubari just smiled in amusement. “Alright, I’ll bite. Or drink, in this case. Let’s try one of these possibly regrettable drinks of yours,” the captain said, her pale amber eyes gleaming as her hands slid off the keys. She had come here to reflect and find quiet and while she had had that, she also found the this late night turning into something pleasantly unexpected.

Bump

(OOC, a little confused.. lol )

All the talk seemed to obviously using context Va’rek lacked… It was slightly jarring to him in his present state of dystopian gloom. His hands had fallen silent on the keys. He wasn’t even sure who these officers were, which made him feel more out of step with the social conventions than normal. He tried hard to think of a reason to excuse himself. These people were friends… had history. There wasn’t much he could add here… a slight tremor began in one hand. “Perhaps I should order a beverage as well…” He found the words tumbling out.

-Va’rek

Julien’s eyebrow went up and he focused on Va’rek with a smile. It was true, this was the first time they met. Julien was a tall man in his fourties. He had green eyes although the left green eye looked oddly different than the right one and they stood out of his deeply tanned face, black short curly hair and dark complexion.
He had a certain rugged charm about him and carried himself with an air of confidence as if he owned the place, but not in an arrogant way. His smile was charming, showing a dimple in his left cheek.

“We haven’t really met before and this is such a big ship that I don’t get to see all new crewmembers in sickbay. How long have you been with us now?” he asked.

  • Julien Smith, doctor

And here Marishka thought she was done being ignored.

Holding her glass in her right hand, she nudged Julien in the ribs with her left. Her smoldering silver eyes looked into his and she smiled. It was a vicious little smile that bared a bit of teeth. Unless this charming man had completely lost his memory, he knew what they could do.

“I thought I was done pouring my own drinks for the night.” she said calmly.
