Dan stood there, a pensive look on his face as he considered the Guardian’s words. Strange. This sounds like it goes beyond time travel to the point of some sort of time manipulation. What would be the motive for such a thing? Economic advantage in trades due to true fore-knowledge. Dan then thought some more and decided the biggest advantage would be political/military. Yes. Removing people that will be a threat to political and military plans.

Stepping forward Dan asked, “Guardian, you said ‘He serves those who would make time in their own image’. Who are they and how are they making time in their own image?”

Ensign Dan Jones (Scientist)

The Guardian continued to speak and the more it did the less it sounded like a machine. “They call themselves “Counterstrike” and they oppose the Guardian’s, the Aegis, they attack your people as we speak. They seek to use the portal to go back and erase you from existence as they know that your destiny is to stand against them”.

Liam’s eyes narrowed at the Guardian’s words. To him, it appeared that this Pierce was a smaller piece in a bigger plot causing his attention to focus on that subject. Thankfully, Jones was on the ball and his next question edged into that territory. With all the strange occurrences that had rapidly happened, Liam found it hard to be disturbed that this creature blended humane traits and machine together that it was difficult to separate one from another.

“How did they gain this ability to distort time? Was always theirs or did they steal it?” Liam found it hard to believe such an organization was allowed to exist with that ability, but his knowledge on this subject was lacking too much to be sure.

The Guardian paused again, sensors indicated that it’s silicone matrix did indeed blend both animate object and machine tendencies but then in many respects humanoids were also machines possessed by a soul that took them higher than themselves. Staggeringly it seemed to be struggling with an answer.

“Always is a word that time does not recognise” it said as it tried to shape it’s answer “Time belongs to all, and it is the rocks that measure it. Counterstrike have the ability and therefore they can be “anytime”. Time protects itself by blocking interference apart from the time nexus we are experiencing now but that time nexus stretches throughout the…” it paused again looking for the right words, “”times” and can be manipulated towards order or away from order. Counterstrike uses their knowledge to destroy order and that is why they must be stopped”.

Gamemaster Conspiracy Theorist (GMT)

Liam paused to absorb the information. It was a painfully classical struggle of opposing forces in the fabric of time. Counterstrike vs the Guardians of Aegis, each one with a foot in the cosmic chaos or order field. The older man sighed, feeling the cliche nearly hit him heavily over the head from it all.

There was one critical question left now, the very one that determined their fate. A part of him dreaded asking, but they wouldn’t get anywhere unless it was and he felt it best to get it over.

“What steps do we take to stop them?” He held his breath for the answer.
