Mardusk scowled. “Not me. And we are pretty damn far away from the Gohl’s normal operating area.”

“I know a little, but… it’s not detailed. Klingon’s love their rituals, they have a dozen just for choosing the name of their first born. I will dig some more details, maybe see if I can make this less fuzzy.”

At that moment, the voice from earlier came back and said “Atlantis. We are confused. Why do you wish to sacrifice an animal for a wedding? You must be confused, Atlantis. Animal sacrifice is for birthdays and graduations.”

Mardusk, CoS

“Silly us,” Rinker commented. “Who’s getting married?”

Bordeaux, Yeoman/Diplomat

At that moment a new voice could be heard. “petaQ! away from pagh Suq ‘ej nen jatlh!” <Idiot! Get away from there and let the adults speak!> followed by a single, loud smacking sound followed by a groan. “Atlantis. This is Rear Admiral T’Kor Drakenol of the IKS Warship Gohl. I wish to speak to your Captain.”

Drakenol, Klingon CO

Kelly nodded to the communications officer to activate the comm again. “Rear Admiral T’Kor Drakenol of the IKS Warship Gohl, this is Captain Kelly Shultz. We would be honored to host a meeting between our two ships but we are unclear at the moment what the occasion is. Is this official business? Your.....colleague,” she hesitated some on the designation to describe the Klingon speaking prior to the Rear Admiral, “indicated it might be a wedding?” The inflection in her voice showed Kelly was unsure of what was going on right now. “If you are looking for a wedding might I ask why the Atlantis?” She tried to be as diplomatic as possible however Klingon celebrations were energetic events, to say the least.

Captain Kelly Shultz

There was a loud laugh from the other ship and the Admiral’s came back a moment later. “It is official, Captain. I had sent word through the regular diplomatic channels several weeks ago, but heard nothing. BAH!! Bureaucrats! I have little use for those whose only exercise is tapping data into forms. That being said, Captain, I did ask. I heard nothing back. So I decided that no denial is the same as permission. Permission to have my daughter’s wedding on your vessel. It is important that one of your crew is present for the ceremony. And from what he has told me about your crew, it would be an honor to have such an assembly as representatives of the Federation and Starfleet present for when my daughter takes her husband. So… what do you say, Captain? Will you host us? Or must we decide this with phasers and torpedoes?”

Rear Admiral Drakenol

Mardusk listened and shook his head at the last question. “I have never been able to tell if he is joking or not. And the odds are pretty much 50/50 that he is… or isn’t.”

Mardusk, CoS

“He’s bluffing…” Rinker said a little too low for the microphones to pick up. “But if its a challenge he wants, I’m game… Full flagons of whiskey at dusk.”

Rinker

Mardusk laughed once out loud. “Oh, I’m in if that’s what it takes to defend our honor!”

Mardusk, CoS

“Torpedo’s are armed and ready, and I have a passive track on the incoming ship with Phasers. Just in case you wanted to know Captain.” Nash was entirely deadpan in his delivery. “I vote Torpedo’s and Phasers, the mess is going to be far easier to explain and clean up than a Klingon Wedding Reception. We will likely have more surviving crew as well.”

Lt Cmdr Nash, CTO

“You do see the size of that ship Nash?” That Klingon ship could take three Atlantii… if that was the correct plural of Atlantis.

It wasn’t that Relann was clueless about Klingons, but her exposure to any of the species directly had been to date extremely limited. She knew what bloodwine was but had never had it. Somehow she suspected that this was going to be worse than any her and Alexx’s Starbase Hospital binge watching nights. “We’ll need to increase security patrols,” she sad softly to Kelly.

“We would be honored to host your daughter’s reception and since it is an official affair I will have all my senior staff and department heads in attendance,” Kelly said immediately throwing all those on the bridge and the ones comfortably sleeping in thier cabins under the proverbial bus. She wouldn’t deny she did that if asked later by her crew. They were one big happy family after all. “Please forward any and all requests to my yeoman Lt. Ian Bordeaux. He will see to the needs of your bridal party. Now unless there is anything else I look forward to recieving you.”

Just as Kelly was about to close the call another thought popped into her head. “What time were you planning on beaming over to the Atlantis. We are prepared to recieve you however some time to make preparations would be appreciated.”

Captian Kelly Shultz

A roar of laughter preceded the Admiral’s voice. “Excellent, Captain. I’m glad to hear that you are amiable to sudden disruptions, no matter how problematic they may be for you. I will not forget you and crew being so… accommodating.” There was some low exchange in the background, and then the Admiral spoke again. “We will be coming over via shuttle, Captain. Two shuttles, to be exact. Some members of the wedding party are averse to transporters. You are welcome to perform any scans of the vessels and their occupants prior to docking that you wish. And I am quite sure that your Security Chief will conduct a most thorough inspection of them upon arrival. Unless the big brute has gone soft on me!” and a raucous cacophony of laughter from many throats erupted over the comms. “We will be departing in four hours, allowing you and your crew time to prepare. We expect to be on board within fifteen minutes after our departure, your permission to dock being assumed of course. As far as preparations go, I will leave the space up to you. We have a party of nineteen. And several kegs of Gagh… and more of Bloodwine! I look forward to meeting you and your crew, Captain. I have heard good things. ” and the comms from the Klingon vessel went dark.
