Frank climbed up a ladder to a higher position. He aimed at the moving target by following it with the nose of the rifle and fired a shot, hitting it almost dead center, making it spin and disappear. Frank had high marks as an expert marksman in weapons training at the Academy.

“Not too shabby, yourself,” Phil replied. After a moment, a ‘casualty’ appeared for Phil to tend to. He darted towards it keeping low and then crouched low next to it. He was now vulnerable and entirely dependant on his fleet colleagues for cover. His rifle was laid at his side and he kept glancing up for targets that the fleet officers may not have seen

Relann moved closer to Phil and his simulated patient, being sure to adjust her centre of gravity as she changed her position. “Gallagher, perimeter check,” she called out to Frank since he was the one with more latitude to move at the moment.

At that moment, two targets flung themselves into the scene, one sweeping low and the other arcing over the group as if it was going to drop on top of the ground group. Relann tracked the low one and picked it off since it was more in her line of sight.

Frank looked up and scanned for the object. He didn’t see the object.

Phil saw the shadow of the second target and rolled to his left just in time to avoid a shot that hit the floor right where he had been. It dropped lower, separating Phil from his rifle which lay on the floor next to where he had been. Being unarmed, he scurried backwards, keeping his eyes firmly on the target

“I have you covered, Phil. Gallagher, take forward targets and I’ll take the aft ones,” Relann instructed as several more began to fling themselves in various directions.

She moved to directly block Phil from any of the incoming targets, but had to both take shots and use her rifle to bat away that tried to cross into her inner guard. The speed of the targets was picking up in the simulation and things would only get more difficult from here.

Bump

Frank nodded and took point. He moved forward of the XO position after seeing a moving target starboard side of the room after it moved right above his peripheral vision. He moved the nose of his phaser to the starboard side and followed the nose to the target and fired a clear shot hitting it dead center. It spun around and disappeared. “I got one Commander”

Gallagher, Security

“That’s good, but stay focused,” Relann warned. “Don’t get cocky, Ensign.” Taking too much delight in getting a target at the rate they were coming towards them was all but asking to be hit. And if a target hit you, you were ‘dead’.

The simulation then shifted so that the targets had the appearance of bouncing off of the holographic walls and objects in the range section. It forced Relann to duck more than once as she fired multiple shots and cumulated in her moving quickly to cover Phil and his holographic patient with her body as one bounced off the ground and up at them. Gritting her jaw, she swung the compression rifle like a bat and obliterated the target. “There’s a reason this is good for stress relief,” she commented idly.

Fell-Drayke, XO

Phil had returned to his patient as the incoming targets were coming in faster. Out of the corner of his eye he saw one skitting quietly accros the floor towards Ghallager. Unsure if the ensign had seen it, Phil picked up his rifle and with a singe precise shot stopped the target in its tracks.

-Phil

After a little more work, his ‘patient’ was beamed out and Phil was free to pick up his gear and concentrate on shooting the targets. The number and speed at which the targets were coming in was increasing as the simulation level had increased, but Phil was comfortably working with the fleet officers picking off the targets as quickly as they were coming.
