“Aye, Ma’am…” The teams dispersed as requested. After a suitable amount of time the damage reports would come trickling in. The upside was that there were no new reports, but the old ones still presented an issue.

“Ok, try it again! No the OTHER connection!”

A shower of sparks burst from under the fried console that Sam had been working on, causing the fur on a passing Caitian crewman to stand on end. However, the console popped back into life, displaying a rotating 3D image of the ship.

The sudden stillness of the ship allowed Relann to make her way to engineering (OOC: presuming nothing stopped her, of course). Stepping into the chaotic bay, the Dy’allan kept out of the way and observed for a moment to see who was currently in charge at this time while Jacen was calling the shots up on the bridge. Spying Keen issuing orders, Relann moved over. “Status ensign?” she said calmly.

Sam glanced up from the newly repaired console and the sound of the voice, to see the unexpected appearance of the ship’s XO, a figure she’d so far only seen in briefing documents and in passing.

“Sir, we took a few pretty big bumps from the anomaly. The STF pretty much held once I diverted power to re-enforce it but we still took some structural damage, in the main across decks 6 to 10, with the worst being here on decks 7 and 8, where we had electrical fire.”

Sam caused the diagram of the ship to rotate and clearly display the worst of the damage, two area’s on decks 7 and 8 flashing red with several other nearby sections outlined in orange to indicate less severe damage.

“I’ve dispatched damage control teams to the worst hit areas, and an engineering team to assess the structural damage. With so many systems taking a hit I wanted the benefit of a first hand Mark I eyeball survey.”

She again manipulated the console, this time bringing up a scrolling list of ship’s systems, most of which were outlined in red or amber, or simply ‘???’ to indicate an unknown status.

“A whole lot of our systems reacted badly to the power drain and rough handling of the ship Sir. I’ve dispatched repair teams to priority systems but we’ve got so many burnt out EPS conduits and fried gel packs that we’ll be cleaning this lot up until the cows come home.”

Sam met the eye of the XO and attempted to inject a bit of levity into the doom and gloom of her report.

“I’m afraid to say Sir… the Captain’s coffee maker didn’t make it.” She said, deadpan, but with a twinkle in her eye and a small smile at the corner of her mouth.

The Dy’allan barely suppressed a smirk and managed to recover something of a stern look. “The needs of the many, Ensign.” She looked over her shoulder to make sure no one else was listening in before leaning in slightly to Keene. “But don’t tell her I said that. Terrible things happen to first officers who don’t protect their CO’s preferred beverage supply. It’s like an unwritten rule or something,” she said with a wink.

Focusing on the damage report, Fell nodded slowly, reaching out to rotate the diagram more slowly. “I’m worried about the STF, but we can only do one thing at a time. But I want to be prepared. How are our defensive shields? The deflector? Can we keep ourselves in one piece while we do repairs?” She was worried about any surprises that they couldn’t defend against, too but one thing at a time.

Fell-Drayke, XO

The deflector dish and the power systems leading to the shields took remarkably little damage, but were drained significantly by the ellipse, it would regenerate in time full power would take hours, but they could be pushed up to 75 percent in 30 minutes. The story was about the same to any major power systems. The minor ones were operating fine.

Sam nodded “the SIF held pretty well once I shifted every bit of juice I could into it. Our shields took a battering but seem to be holding for now and the deflector is functional. The downside is we had to pretty much drain the phaser reserves to keep the ship together, so we’ll need the Captain to avoid getting us into a shoot out until we can recharge and repair some of these blown relays.”

She ran her eyes back over the ships’ diagram in her console, trying to translate the image into a mental picture of the ship as a whole. She shook her head and looked back to the XO.

“I really don’t like the damage that was done to decks 7&8 and the surrounding areas. Too many internal sensors are down and we’ve had reports of fires and casualties in the area. Sir, permission to take personal command of the damage control team? I’d feel much better once I can do a hands on assessment myself. “

Deck 7&8 were indeed in trouble and while weren’t likely to be a ship killer, it had to be resolved or the Atlantis would be ineffective.
