Sam swung herself out of the hatchway, emerging from the jeffries tube to land lightly on her feet in the main corridor. She’d had to make a detour around several non-functioning turbolifts but had finally arrived near one of the worst hit areas. Already she could see evidence of the strain placed on the hull here. Conduit covers hung lazily from the walls, and blown panels emitted bursts of electrical sparks as she passed, the whole scene lit only by emergency lighting.

She paused a moment to pop open a locker as she passed, removing handheld firefighting equipment and breathing apparatus from the emergency supplies cache. The damage control and casualty report had indicated an electrical fire and although she’s activated the fire extinguishers and force fields to contain the blaze, she couldn’t be sure how effective those measures had been with so many sensors down or damaged.

She pulled out an illuminator from her toolkit and strapped it to her wrist before advancing towards the area’s reported as being the worst damaged, playing the beam of the torch around, looking for areas of damage or instability as she advanced.

=^= Keene to Engineering, I’m on Deck 8 now, proceeding with damage assessment. =^=

It was bad, far worse that Keene would have suspected prior to coming to deck 8. The system didn’t automatically shut off or re-route as it should have and the uncontrolled plasma burned through several sections, panels, and decks. The scorching was impressive and even after the conduit was shut off and the fire suppression systems had thier chance the walls were still sparking and smoldering. As Keene looked up and down she could see the decks above and below.

An optimistic estimation would suggest that a full third of the ship would be without primary power for the foreseeable future. If the Atlantis happened to have the parts, which Keene did not think they did it would take days to repair it.

GM - of bad news
