The head looked off for a moment. “I’m detecting three Aflian ships coming into range. It might be close enough to slow down the ellipse bur far enough not to get swallowed alive. Fortunately for all of us, were still in this galaxy, its only a fifty thousand light years from Federation Space.” The head bobbed up and down happily as if this were good news.

“When the ellipse comes out of subspace, or slows down enough. I’m going to pop us both out.”

Next to Kelly Ian was wanting to aid her as much as he could. It was his job to make her look good and keep her tongue in check. He could himself be very flippant by nature but he also knew when to sweet talk others. Leaning to her again he began to whisper, “You may want to thank them… or at the very least smile a bit more when you talk next. Show cleavage if you need to just don’t piss them off. I don’t think we can survive this if you anger them Kel.”

Drayke, CE

“Thank them for pulling us out of bed and blowing up half my ship,” she said in a hushed tone to Ian. Her voice showed Kelly was not in a mood to be the charming hostess. “He is going to see me angry if he did anything to stop the supply of coffee from leaving the replicator and entering my body,” she shot back before turning to face the face again. It was then she thought about what Ian said and got an idea.

“Thank you Mr. Gretzsky for your....assistance,” she said feeling annoyed at having to play nice. It was a floating head said- she said situation about how they got into this conundrum but getting her crew and ship safely out of this mess was a priority. “When we are popped from the ellipse why don’t you come over for a quick cup of coffee. That is if your assistance hasn’t blown every replicator panel we have.” Kelly knew she should have held back the last part but like all good country songs stated: you could hijack her ship, burn her bible, kidnap her dog, steal her husband but taking her coffee was the part where she brought out the shotgun.

“Coffee?” The head looked about the bridge before looking at the Captain for a moment. “I have no need for caffeine to improve my senses or demeanor.” He paused. “Oh, this is a social invitation. I guess it would be okay but its unnecessary. I can make myself fully corporeal without the wait.” The form started shining brightly for a moment then darkened into a fully bipedal person. “See.”

“See I went to charm school,” she said with a smile but through gritted teeth in a volume only Ian would hear.

Tyler tried using their sensors to confirm what their friend had told them. The conversation between the guest and the Captain was quite baffling to him, since when did things become such a circus around here? The situation in whole was beginning to give him a headache, to which he let out a soft audible sigh.

-Tyler Michael Wells, CSO

The sensors had some ability to penetrate the outer layer of the ellipse, even as drained as the ship was in regard to power. Wells could determine that they were in subspace and moving much faster than standard warp speeds. But there were no ships that the Atlantis could detect.

GM

“Well… this is new.” Jacen said as he looked at the reports for the ship. They needed to stabilize soon but he glanced at the details the sensors had just giving to Wells. This certainly seemed fascinating.

Drayke, CE

“Care to elaborate Drakye,” she said as she took her seat and stared out the viewport.

OOC: Pasting me back in.
IC:
=/\=Fell to Bridge. So… made it to Engineering. I was thinking about swapping jobs with our Chief Engineer, but it’s like you don’t think I could do it,=/\= she teased slightly. =/\=Ensign Keene has gone to help with the structural damage on Deck 7&8, so I’m going to stay here and hold the fort. Such as it is.=/\= She gazed at the shut down warp core. =/\=If you need me elsewhere, just… let me know.=/\=

Fell-Drayke, XO

The newly formed body pivoted towards the screen. “Yeah, we’re getting out of here now.” He shook his head unhappily for a moment before the green beam reformed about the Atlantis again before the both ships started moving. In a very anti-climatic way the two ships popped out of the graviton ellipse. He raised is hands slightly in celebrations. “See… easy peasy.”

The graviton ellipse seemed to drop out of subspace just long enough to deposit the two ships before moving back into phase and gone. With the ellipse’s departure the ships functions started coming back on, along with the sensors and the shields. The sensor now detected three ships of unknown design moving towards them at warp 8. They would be withing weapons range in two hours.

“Okay who are the Aflians,” Kelly asked no one in particular but looked towards Ian. He was the chief diplomat. Knowing people was his job.

“I need scans on those two ships,” Kelly announced. “If they are coming at us I would like to know what they are packing.” It was then she turned to face the Wyne Gretsky. “Anythng you want to tell us or should weplay charades?”

Captain Kelly Shultz

\OOC: Its three ships.

IC: “They are one of five warp capable races in this region - one of the most warp diverse regions I’ve ever explored. The, Alfian are harmless… to me anyways. I doubt they would be much of a challenge to you on a one-to-one basis not that they would fight even if they could take you. Actually, I’ve always found them kind of… overly polite.. like a used star-ship salesmen.” He didn’t look at the screen… continuing to look at the Captain.

“Its probably better you met them - than the Nine. Much easier to insult them, they have an inferiority complex.”

Mardusk started compiling all the readings he could get on the unknown vessels and feeding it to the Tactical console. He then sent a command out to all Security personnel to report for duty, all shifts. Looking at the now-present figure standing on the bridge, he glared and his jaw clenched together.

Mardusk, CoS

Outwardly, SEAI was calm, inwardly on the other hand she was a flurry of activity, multiple processors examining the results of her scans and trying to figure out what the heck was going on. She knew that floating heads were not the weirdest thing to show up on Starfleet bridges, but they definitely were up there.

(SEAI CNS)

=^=Sickbay to the Bridge, casualty report please?=^= Came the voice of Dr. Summers

Summers (med)

Aside from the three already in sick bay the only other injury reports were bumps and bruises that could come for the minor care when the ship was secure from Alert.

GM

The three ships had good warp to power ratios, suggesting a race that was similar to the Federation in warp design and ship power, what was unusual was the power curve of the ships. It looked like they were moving through warp for a fixed amount of time… ie their warp speed had a limited duration, probably less than a day at a time.

Weapons were unclear at this range, along with the number of people on the craft. The ships were all of the same design fairly large, if the race was the same size and had the same crew density of alpha quadrant races, they probably held 500 people.

GM

SEAI found herself musing out loud, “We might as well contact them sooner than later. I believe that the sooner we can open attempt communication, the sooner we can get a read on how they plan on acting in response to our appearance.”

SEAI (CNS)

“Good idea SEAI. Open communications with the Aflian’s,” Kelly ordered.

“Mr. Nash any idea on the weapon capabilities of the Aflian’s,” Kelly asked. She was not doubting the hockey great’s opinion that they were friendly but it was always best to find out information first hand.

At this range, and since the ships weapons didn’t appear armed, there was no way to determine the type, number, of power of the weapons.

“Helm adjust our course to intercept the ships.”

“Mr. Mardusk, make sure our forces are prepped for possible visitors,” Kelly said leaning back in her chair.

Captain Kelly Shultz

Mardusk simply nodded his bald, green head. He already had teams in position in all sensitive areas, but rotated around some to deal with possible boarders.

Mardusk, CoS

“Well,: Wayne commented, “If you are going to meet them, I’m leaving… they are constantly trying to get me involved in their little squabbles with the other races in the the area.” He looked out the main view screen again.

“Not to mention, if you want to get home in this century, I’m going to have to corral that Ellipse and bring it back this way so you can use it to get home.” He gestured to Mardusk, “I need you to drop your shields so I can leave.”

Curiously since the ship left the ellipse, both the shields and other assorted high power systems were more effective. Although the shields being at a low level didn’t seem to bother him in the least.

Mardusk looked at Nash and said “Well, I’m in favor of doing anything to get big floating heads off the bridge. You drop the shields, Commander. I’ll keep an eye on our new friends.”

Mardusk, CoS

“Hmm, Charming.” The ‘full bodied’ alien said to no one in particular, but certainly loud enough for everyone to hear.

Wayne the Rock Gretzky
GM

OOC We certainly can fast forward to the ships arriving, but the alien would be gone if you did that. Last chance for questions.

“Mr. Mardusk belay that order,” Kelly said in a firm tone. Staring at the screen Kelly took a moment to think. “If you can drop us out back home then why did you stop here,” she asked the floating head. “You seemed eager for us to meet the Aflians until we wanted to. I’m sick of your games. It is 0400 hours. My crew was asleep. I have not showered and this coffee tastes like it was brewed with water from a dog groomer. Mr. Mardusk drop the shields. Mr. Drayke start working on a way back home,” Kelly announced leaning back in her seat. “If you are not going to play GPS Mr. Gretsky than I am going to do the womanly thing and actually as for directions,” Kelly announced.

Captian Kelly Shultz

“It a force of nature, not a car, I’m sure you don’t understand, but I can’t just turn the wheel and it moves around. It takes time, power, and lots of both. There a limit to even what I can do. It will take me months to line an ellipse properly to get you anywhere near home. I use it because I’m an explorer I don’t care where I go.” He nodded slowly and faded away.

The stars were certainly unfamiliar to the sensors, but it didn’t take long for the computer to spit out a location and a distance, 48,676 light years from Sol.

Several hours later, the Alfians would hail.
