Deck 7&8 were indeed in trouble and while weren’t likely to be a ship killer, it had to be resolved or the Atlantis would be ineffective.

Relann looked at Keen and nodded. “Go. Your Chief is monitoring everything from the bridge. I’ll keep tabs down here until someone takes over.” She wasn’t an engineer, but she could manage personnel and communicate information.

“Yes Sir!”

Barely waiting to acknowledge that she’d received permission to go, Sam snatched up her toolkit from where she kept it stashed under her console. She felt instantly better as she slung the battered case over one shoulder, it’s weight instantly comforting and familiar as it settled against her hip, ready for action.

She headed out of Engineering, plotting a path around damaged turbolifts and sealed bulkheads to the effected area of Deck 8 on her PaDD as she went.

Ensign Keene - Engineering

Shortly, a message came back from the Ensign. She sounded a little out of breath, which given how quickly she’d gotten across the ship with a number of turbolifts out, wasn’t to be unexpected.

=^= Keene to Engineering, I’m on Deck 8 now, proceeding with damage assessment. =^=

Ensign Keene - Engineering

It was bad, fair worse that Keene would have suspected prior to coming to deck 8. The system didn’t automatically shut off or re-route as it should have and the uncontrolled plasma burned through several sections, panels, and decks. A full third of the ship would be without primary power for the foreseeable future. If the Atlantis happened to have the parts, which Keene did not think they did it would take days to repair it.

Relann nodded to herself, more than anything. =/\=Roger that, Ensign. Let us know the status and we’ll keep the bridge updated.=/\=

She was about to send an update when she watched the systems status change and indicate a reroute of primary control. Relann smirked. =/\=Fell to Bridge. So… made it to Engineering. I was thinking about swapping jobs with our Chief Engineer, but it’s like you don’t think I could do it,=/\= she teased slightly. =/\=Ensign Keene has gone to help with the structural damage on Deck 7 and 8, so I’m going to stay here and hold the fort. Such as it is.=/\= She gazed at the shut down warp core. =/\=If you need me elsewhere, just… let me know.=/\= A part of her wondered if she’d just end up running about the ship and not doing anything, but she also knew that a command presence down here could be reassuring in a crisis, even if she wasn’t doing anything.

GM

With Keene managing the situation on Deck 7 & 8, the CE monitoring everything engineering related on the bridge, and the bridge ignoring her communications entirely, Relann had no choice but to simply watch and wait until there was something she could specifically do. After all, she herself was not an engineer. For now she would simply keep an eye on the situation with what the computer could tell her.

Keene’s voice came over the comm,

=^= Keene to engineering. Deck 8 is a complete mess Sir. Neither the auto shut downs on the plasma conduits, nor the emergency containment fields I lowered seem to have operated correctly. We’ve got massive fire damage across the whole of this area...... =^=

There was a brief pause and a faint clatter of metal.

=^= .....Sir, this whole area of the ship is without primary power and I estimate that we’re gonna need a full drydocking to fix her up, there is no way we can fix this with the tools we have to hand, it’s like we took a full volley of torps with our shields down. I’m proceeding to the upper primary computer core to assess if the system has been damaged. =^=

Sam Keene - Engineering

=/\=We won’t have drydock options for awhile Ensign. I’ll inform the bridge, but you’ll have to make do. Seal off areas that are nonfunctional. Patch jobs will have to be the order of the day.=/\= If Jacen had a better idea then he could talk to his team, since she was not the expert here.

=/\=Fell to bridge. Ensign Keen reports that Deck 7 & 8 have taken significant damage, mostly from fire. They’re having issues with containment fields and shutting down plasma conduits. The damage won’t be able to be dealt with out here and that means it’s a significant weak spot and could prove problematic for us.=/\=
