“Oh…Oh no we are divorced now,” Kelly said quickly fixing the story. She couldn’t have Rellan think that they were still together even though technically they were but as of right now Ian had no idea she wasn’t ready to get divorced and gave him the requested papers without her signature to file. If the lawyer he used was as competent as a lima bean the truth would come out that their papers were null and void. Until then, however, Kelly needed the crew to believe they were divorced. “It was a quickie marriage and an even quicker divorce.” Kelly was usually good at burying her emotions around telepaths. She had to be as a commanding officer. One novice Betazoid sensing a bit of trepidation from the CO on their first cruise and they could be running around like chicken little screaming the sky had fallen. However, the old saying loose lips sink ships had a more telepathic version which was when you play in the bed they can read what’s in your head. The other version which was more applicable here was when you drain the blue they find out quick what you’re saying isn’t true. To Kelly, this was the reason Romulan Ale was illegal in the Federation and not that the proof was so high you got drunk simply from sniffing the stuff.

Confusion spread across Relann’s face. “I don’t understand. Why get divorced? I guess… I’m missing something here?” It had been a learning curve when she first came to the Federation and realized that she had more options when it came to relationships and marriage. Heck, she didn’t even have to get married! What would her parents have thought? But having a companion in some way always felt right to her. She knew that Kelly had real feelings for Ian, but if so, why the flip-flop?

“Yeah, the formal proposal like Ian did,” Kelly said rolling her eyes. The snarky expression was entirely meant for the man who was not in the room. “I mean the sex was there but no flowers or champagne. It was like going to the justice of the peace after the honeymoon.” Kelly drummed her fingers on the table slightly annoyed at Ian but was it over the wedding that wasn’t or because he signed off on the divorce papers. As she pondered what she was annoyed at or who, Kelly bought some time asking a question.

“How did Jacen pop the question,” she asked pouring them another round of shots. “Oh and I gave Lt. Lewenthal three’s on punctuality because there is nothing to record falling asleep for thirty minutes after arriving to a shift every time he has the day shift,” Kelly reported to Relann. I mean this was a working activity even if they were getting blitzed out of their mind.

“Yes, I wasn’t particularly favourable on that front. But Ensign Jimenez on that other hand has strong scores across the board. I think we should set her record in the maybe pile for a promotion. She’s been with us awhile.,” Relann set, setting a PADD to the side before taking one of the shots from Kelly.

“As for the proposal, well”-the Dy’allan smiled-“long story short we were on Corsa after a mission. It was the first time I had bene back to my home word since the massacres and we had just learned that some of my people did survive. Things were improving after we helped figure out the epidemic that was killing the Rai’vellans and we could take a brief break before heading back to the Atlantis. We… visited my old village, which was very emotional and Jacen wanted a bit of time just the two of us. So we walked down to the beach just like we had before in my holodeck recreation. And that’s where he proposed. We stood in a beautiful place that was so heavy with the past and we talked about the future. I don’t wear it on duty because it’s too precious to risk damaging, but he gave me the pink diamond ring that belonged to his late sister. I understood then just how much he was bringing me into his life and vice versa.”

Kelly poured another shot for her and Rellan. “I am 100% for promoting Jimenez, Bartinshop, however, should get demoted,” Kelly cocked an eyebrow at the report. “I mean we aren’t actually demoting him because he is a crewman and you cant get any lower but the man gave himself the Ledovia Flu because he was running samples and set his lunch on tray where he took the samples. Remind me not to eat anything he brings to the next pot luck,” Kelly signed off on the PaDD.

Relann shuddered and then looked at Kelly with amusement before taking the shot. “Though maybe some remedial training in Sickbay might be in order, don’t you think?” Okay, maybe it was a bit mean, but it was practical at the same time. If there was anyone who’d snap Bartinshop out of bad habits it was Ryley. Well, maybe. Hmmm, how much alcohol had she had that her go-to answer was Alexx? Huh. It made her start chuckling.
