MDIt would be easy to be offended by the CMO’s demeanor, but a life full of testosterone had provided Jessica a backbone of steel and feelings not easily hurt. She was tempted to pretend not to recognize this out-of-uniform dynamo. She pondered that avenue of response and then decided to take a different approach…
“That’s Princess Lemann to you, sir, and I was just coming in to find out where my throne is located,” she easily responded, a saccharine smile upon her features. “Cute dinosaur.”

The corner of Ryley’s mouth twitched. “Oh aren’t you cute.” He said sarcasm colouring his tone but his eyes looked mischievous. He bit into the Apple again and chewed while he considered her. “As you say your highness…” he nodded his head in a follow me gesture and moved passed her into sickbay heading to the nearest biobed, leaning on his cane as he went. The Apple still crunching away. He reached the bed and lifting his cane pointed the bottom of it at her then at it. “There you go, Princess. Have a seat.”
He turned from her and patting his pockets seemed to realise he was missing something. “Forgot my tricorder.” He told her, “hang tight Princess i’ll be right back. Scouts honour.” He said limping back toward his office.

“I’ve been told I’m cute but deadly,” Jessica responded mildly as she followed Ryley to the biobed and then boosted herself up with the ease of a gymnast. “Bring me back an apple too!” she called after him as he limped off and then daintily crossed her legs and leaned back on her arms. Well, this hadn’t quite begun the way she thought, but it certainly showed that it would be a promising tour. The tête-à-tête had the feel of life at home with her brothers.
