Jessica’s small frame melted against Nash as she eagerly returned his kiss. As he ended the kiss, she rested her cheek against his wet chest, savoring the feel of his heartbeat below her ear. The combination of his words and, despite the warm error, a slight chill from being wet left her trembling lightly against him. As her fingers interlaced in his, she looked up at him with an impish grin, “well, it’s awfully presumptuous for you to assume that your quarters are closer, but I’ll take your word for it.” Her left hand occupied in his, her free right hand reached up to snug itself in his hair as she pulled him down to her, teasing his lips with hers, then learning back slightly to order, “computer, end program.”

As the beach and the waves fizzled out of existence, she brought his lips down to hers again, not quite as deeply and passionately, but more playful and lighthearted. After a few moments, she let go of his hair and, moving her hand down to poke at his ribs, ended the kiss and murmured, “lead the way, then.”

The room around them faded back to the sterile criss cross of the holodeck, and the two found themselves still soaked, with their shoes resting by the door. Nash smiled down at her, noting that she was no less beautiful now that the scenery had faded. “You know,” he mused quietly to her, “I think that program has never been quite so stunning as it was tonight. Normally when I come here, I can sit and watch the waves and the boats, the moon and stars for hours. Tonight, they all faded into the background with you here.” He raised his head and softly kissed her cheek, just gently before leading her to the door, picking up their shoes and then walking, barefoot and wet the pair of them down the corridors of the Atlantis towards his quarters. Idly, Nash was half grateful he had forgotten his cigar. It would have been ruined by the water anyway.

Jessica gave him one of her beautifully wide smiles and commented, “thank you for showing it to me, it’s beautiful.” She brushed a piece of wet hair back off her face and accompanied Nash to the door, bending to get her shoes but then stopping when she noted that he had picked them up before her. She traced her thumb around all of the parts of his hand she could reach and allowed him to lead her through the ship, momentarily giggling at their bedraggled appearance and the idea of walking through a Starfleet ship barefoot.

The ship was cooler than the beach had been, so he didn’t waste any time reaching his room, although a crewman moved past them at one point and went to nod as he recognized Nash, then paused as the state of the two registered. This late at night, the NE knew not to ask questions and simply carried on his way with Nash pretending nothing at all was out of the ordinary. With Jessica’s hand in his he ran his thumb lightly over hers, and finally reached the door to his quarters. Pausing outside, he turned to face her and took her in his arms again but this time he didn’t kiss her, he just looked at her and ran his fingertips over the soft skin between her shoulder and her ear, then moved them to her cheek. A slight smile played on his lips as he said gently, “Lets get inside, dried off and warmed up.”

As the chill of the ship air came over her, Jessica shivered lightly and wiggled her fingers out of Nash’s hand to rub her upper arms in an attempt to warm them up. She smiled charmingly at the only person they passed, a crewman who didn’t seem to think too much of the situation. While not particularly shy, she did glance around momentarily before melting back into his arms and taking advantage of the moment to brush her lips against his. A slightly less sweet look came over her face as she met his eyes and raised her eyebrow in a playful, suggestive manner. “Yes, let’s,” she agreed.

With a slow and wide smile, Nash palmed the control to his room and his door slid open. He immediately led Jessica through, letting the doors slide almost silently shut behind them. His quarters were quiet and low lit, this seemed to be their natural state with just enough light to see and relax by, nothing bright. The reason for that might have been clear in the size of the room, larger than a normal Officers by half again, more fitting for a Senior Officer of some kind. On the wall ahead of them was a large window, and the view of the stars beyond it gave reason to Nash’s preference of scenery over bright light. The centre of the room was filled with a large and comfortable sofa, facing the window with a low coffee table in front of it and a plush rug set before them. “Computer, a little warmer in here,” he said, and within seconds the environmentals had adjusted a few degrees warmer.

Off to the left, the doorway to the bedroom lay open with the large double bed visible, neatly made with darker toned sheets and blankets. As per most quarters the bathroom would be off that. To their right, was a small dining table and work station with a replicator set on the wall. The walls were sparsely spread with pictures, and there were a number of shelves holding what looked to be trophy’s, awards and a number of books. A liquor cabinet sat beside the dining table and on the workstation an old, antique wooden box with gold hinges and latch. There were no curtains on the window, making the room look a little larger than it was and the space was far from cluttered. The only visible mess in this room was a red uniform shirt slung neatly but lazily over the workstation chair, from this point only the color visible, not the collar.

Once in the room Nash turned on Jessica, raised both hands and softly but firmly placed them either side of her cheeks, his thumbs following her jawline to her chin and he drew her to him, lowering his head to hers and his lips searching for hers urgently for a few moments, pressing against hers before he broke the kiss softly, smiling as their lips still brushed and he looked deeply into her jewel green eyes, his fingers brushing against her wet hair, moving his fingers through it. Nash took a step back, taking her hands and pulling her with him further into the room nearer the sofa then he turned and let her hands go, giving her a slow wink. “Let’s get you warm,” he grinned before he moved through the door to his bedroom, fully undoing his jacket so it hung loose as he moved out of sight, and moments later reappeared holding a large, warm looking robe.

Walking back to Jessica, he held out the robe and draped it over her shoulders. It smelled faintly of him, and as the robe settled around her shoulders his hands slipped around her waist once more, his jacket loose and collar slightly crooked, giving him a roguish look to go with the hair she had messed on the beach. His hands softly caressed her waist as he dropped his head to her lips again, his lips softly brushing hers. Then his right hand gently followed the curve of her back up to her shoulder where his fingers played with the wet strap of cloth at her shoulder as he pressed his body close to her. “Computer, a little music please.”

Softly, the first bars of a song started playing and as they stood together, words began to play in their background.

“Do you feel the same when I’m away from you?
Do you know the line that I’d walk for you?”
