That triggered something in her. She wasn’t armed… she didn’t even have her tricorder. She knew she had it not a minute ago… what happened in the last minute that might have cause her to lose both her tricorder and phaser.

GM

M’Lene gave Steward a mischievous smile as she reached for her tricorder to continue their analysis of the local wildlife. She reached into the pouch where she normally kept it to find it empty. Raising a quizzical eyebrow she checked in her bag which was also tricorderless. With an exasperated sigh she looked towards where the young man had scampered off to as she shook her head. “You have got to be kidding me…” she muttered under her breath, somewhat embarrassed that she hadn’t noticed their light fingered friend pick pocketing her. Slinging her bag on her shoulder she grabbed Steward by the arm and started jogging in the direction the urchin had gone. “Come on! He can’t have got far!” she urged as she dragged Steward with her looking for where he might have run off to, hoping she wouldn’t have to explain to the Captain that she’d been caught off guard.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

There was some truth to that statement, due to the urchin’s need not to seem like a criminal he had to walk out of sight and then only move slightly faster as even the local security was interested in general theft. They would be even moreso if they learned that a weapon was stolen.

=/\= All away teams report status =/\= Kelly stated.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

M’Lene gulped nervously as she heard the Captain’s voice through the comm channel. She took a deep breath and pressed her comm badge to reply. =/\= Lt (jg) M’Lene here ma’am, I’ve run into a little problem… =/\= she replied sheepishly. =/\= It seems a young boy has made off with my tricorder and phaser… =/\= she added quietly and braced herself for a dressing down.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

Kelly stopped in her tracks hearing M’Lene’s reply. =/\=You lost the tricorder=/\= she said with a bit of tension to her voice. =/\=I am sending Vladar to assist you. Do what you can to recover it but don’t exacerbate the situation or cause a situation. Contact me with updates=/\= Kelly snapped off her comm badge.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

M’Lene winced as she heard the expected annoyance in the Captain’s voice. She gulped as she tentatively tapped her comm badge. =/\= Yes ma’am. /\= she replied, opting to keep it short and sweet. She sighed as she ran her fingers through her fur, cursing herself for such a stupid mistake.

In a few moments, Lt Vladar and Pvt Yelchin arrived. His metal hand rested on his phaser pistol, Dan said “Captain’s orders. You need Marine support to deal with a small child who stole your sidearm and tricorder?” He looked at M’Lene with a sense of near disbelief.

M’Lene opened her mouth to speak but he had a point, it was as ridiculous as it sounded. She grimaced and nodded silently in response.

“Yelchin, cover the exits.” Dan drew his weapon and set it to stun. “I’ll flush him out.” Yelchin nodded. “Yes sir!” He said in a thick Russian accent. Dan started sweeping through the area.

-2nd Lt Dan Vladar

The arboretum had multiple exits, which the urchin had most certainly had escaped through. Using the direction that he had left by, he went into the main low income housing unit. Just looking at the housing density, there could be 10,000 people residing in this section add visitors there are probably 12 to 13 thousand possibles in this section. That number would increase as time went on. At this moment, given rate of foot-speed the pool was about 300, but every moment the number would increase exponentially.

“Anything I can do?” she asked, instantly regretting it as she braced herself for a sarcastic response.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

Dan didn’t speak, showing no sign he even heard M’Lene. Yelchin spoke up. “Don’t worry. He’s not big mad, he’s just man on mission. Captain… she is big mad. Difference is: small Captain, big mad, giant Marine, small mad.” The odd, thin, Russian almost didn’t seem to know where a sentence would end when he started it. “Yelchin! Exits!”

“Covered sir! Small mad, big voice.” Dan swept around looking under and around everything.

2nd Lt Dan Vladar

GM returns

OOC: Just merging threads :)

IC: Normally M’Lene would have found young Yelchin somewhat amusing but the concern for her upcoming inevitable reprimand somewhat overshadowed her sense of humour as she pricked her ears up to see if she could hear anything suspicious with her keen feline hearing.

Dan raised his weapon. “EVERYONE DOWN ON THE GROUND! THERE IS STOLEN STARFLEET PROPERTY ON THE PREMISES. RETURN IT NOW OR I WILL CALL BACKUP!

-2nd Lt Dan Vladar

Stunned by Vladar’s announcement, M’Lene instinctively dropped to the ground as requested, her hands over her sensitive Caitian ears. “Jeez man!” she replied in annoyance. “Was that really necessary?!” she grumbled as she stood again and brushed herself off then stood defiantly with her hands on her hips. “Since you have a fully functioning tricorder, would it not be more prudent to scan for federation technology then locate the signal which does not appear with a comm badge?” she asked, a clear air of annoyance in her voice.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

Dan couldn’t stand Starfleet butting in and pretending to know how Marines work. “We don’t carry tricorders as standard operations kit. What I have, is a room full of people and a standard non-combat duty kit.” He turned and announced to everyone who could hear “A boy made off with a Starfleet issue tricorder and hand phaser. If he comes forward, or these items are returned promptly, we will be on our way. I can have a team search this entire area if necessary.”

-2nd Lt Dan Vladar

Two purple and gold garbed security officers jogged over their weapons out as well, pointing at the Vladar. “Put your weapon down!!” They were outnumbered but seemed undaunted. ‘Base security, Put your weapon on the deck and back up.” These two men didn’t seem to be the equal of the star fleet marines or the fleet officers.

GM

“Federation Marines. There’s a boy with a stolen weapon and tricorder in there. I have every intention of bringing him and what he stole back. If I need to bring a sweep team in is up to how cooperative you are. Pvt Yelchin And I can search the premises, or six marines in full combat gear can search it.”

-2nd Lt Dan Vladar

“I don’t give a G@d D@mn about who you’re affiliated with. This is our base, you put one marine on this station over your dead body. Now put your weapons down!!!” Time was a wasting while the were arguing with he base security officers.

One security person raised his wrist to his mouth. =^=We have four belligerents, at least two are armed, one is brandishing his weapon and giving orders.=^= he paused, there might have been a response but it wasn’t audible to the Star-Fleet personel.

=^=Bring everyone.=^= he continued in a moment. The two purple and gold garbed officers started sliding away from each other. It was a common tactic… they were flanking Vladar and the rest of the Federation party.

GM

=/\=On me.=/\= One more Marine slipped in. Emergency backup. Yelchin approached from behind as well. The three Marines made their stand. Dan kept his eyes on security, but said to M’Lene “Stand back Starfleet.” Dan used the full force of his height and out of place steel prosthetic to make himself an intimidating figure. “I don’t know if you’re capable of understanding- so let me speak very clearly. Federation property is involved. That makes this our situation. I’m offering you a way out, we search the place, Hawkins has a tricorder.” As a radioman, she would. “If you want to turn this into a shootout, I’m a decorated marksman. I doubt you can even find the trigger. So either we move now, or we stun you and we move while you drool on the floor.”

2nd Lt Dan Vladar

One guard looked at another, “Who the hell are these guys?”

“I don’t care,” Came the response. Looking at Vladar who was clearly in charge, “Non-base military personal can not search citizens or investigate crimes, that’s our job.” The security recognized military personnel when they saw them. They didn’t look happy to be outnumbered but that is something that would changed in a few moments and even if wasn’t they were n’t about to let a foreign power start dictating police action on their ship.

M’Lene let out a bit of a disgruntled sigh at the gung ho marine but dutifully stepped back as requested. She wasn’t entirely sure how much of Vladar’s threats were idle but she didn’t really want to be in the way if he did follow through. As she stood back, she pricked her ears up again to see if she could hear anything in the distance.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

The security seemed confused by the term stun, not the word but the fact that they had the option with their phasers. The Federation personnel would see a secondary, smaller pistol on their sides that might be a non-lethal option, but what was in their hands currently was some sort of blaster that did not appear to have a stun setting. “You are now under arrest for threatening law enforcement officers, brandishing weapons, defiance of lawful orders and about a dozen other things. Put your weapons on the deck, turn around, kneel and lace your fingers together on the tops of you heads.”

In the distance they could hear the whining of the universal sound of ‘police’ vehicles.

Deus Ex Machina
GM

Dan was strongly tempted to set his weapon to kill and fry the two morons in front of him. He kept his weapon on stun and slowly nodded. A signal to Yelchin and Hawkins. “You sure Lt?” Hawkins asked. “We’re in too deep.” Dan replied. He took a deep breath. Let the adrenaline slow things down. Two blue bolts came flying out of his phaser and into the guards. “Move!” The Marines dove in.

OOC: Just as a note, please don’t give the results of your actions. That’s my job. You can say you shot… even the lovely colors. But I say what happens. You do know there like a half a million people on this base, right?

The officers should have expected being fired on, but since their weapons didn’t have a stun setting, the assumed rational non-invading persons wouldn’t kill them so they had time. They were wrong. There was surprise on one officer’s face as he crumpled and the second was able to pull his trigger as he was hit, but the force of the stun setting threw off his aim. The invisible shot scorched a wall not 10 meters behind Vladar.

What few people that had not scattered as the face off began started to now. It was a mass of beings darting in a dozen different direction.

“Hawkins! Tricorder! Find a Starfleet phaser signature.”
“Yes sir!” Dan was only concerned with not having a weapon on the loose. If he needed an emergency beamout to handle the situation, Marines always got the job done. They started sweeping the area.

2nd Lt Dan Vladar

OOC: I thought you said Marines didn’t have tricorders as their normal equipment.... (Dan couldn’t stand Starfleet butting in and pretending to know how Marines work. “We don’t carry tricorders as standard operations kit. What I have, is a room full of people and a standard non-combat duty kit.” ). So how is Hawkins scanning?

GM

Moving through the crowd she hit her comm badge. =/\=Lt. Vlader status report. There is an alert of an active shooter. Are our people safe,=/\= she asked over the comm.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

M’Lene squeaked as a phaser beam shot past her shoulder and she hit the deck in surprise. Hearing the familiar voice of the Captain chime through the comm, she pressed her own in response.

=/\= M’Lene to Bordeaux, um, Lt Vlader is somewhat indisposed at the moment in a firefight with the natives…we may have a bit of situation here… =/\= she hollered over the sound of weapons fire.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

=/\=Say again Lt. Vlader is in a fight against the natives or with the natives =/\= Kelly asked for clarification on the comm badge.
Captain Kelly Bordeaux

M’Lene sighed, feeling a little guilty that it had been her carelessness that had got them into this situation. =/\= I’m afraid that would be against them ma’am, there is some…disagreement over how to handle the young man who ran off with my equipment. =/\= she added sheepishly.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

OOC: This is hard without Vlader AWOL… you should take the lead

Luke
