Ryley sat quietly and listened. Happy to play the part of the quiet old guy the greying older doctor allowed Sam to take the lead on the situation. He looked around casually as she spoke to the captain. Crafty that one, he thought to himself with a smirk.

“Depends of what you want to see. The more dangerous LIS, Low income sector would probably need someone either armed, or someone in the know. That would cost more, but if you want to sight see, that would be 20 or so credits an hour. ” The waitress looked at them curiously.

GM

“What do you think Doc?” Sam glanced across the table at Ryley to gauge his reaction.

Ryley watched her watching him.

“Do you fancy takin’ a tour up here, find a money exchange, some nice luxury stores, maybe actually find some stuff the ship needs.... or are you feelin’ down and dirty today? Either ways, we can at least get our vittles before we stretch our legs.”

Sam Keene - SPO

“I’m a Doctor, not a requisitions Officer. If the ship needs stuff then they should have sent someone with a shopping list.” He said with a grin as answer to her question.

Ryley
MD

“Down and dirty it is then Doc.” Replied Sam with a grin of her own.

The waitress returned with their burger and beers. It came with a dip and some thing that definitely did not resemble fries, but was pleasant enough.

“Let’s finish up our beers and burgers, then go see a man about this LIS place that sounds all kinda interesting. Do you think we should ask ‘mom’ to send us a few friends along for the trip? Maybe the Jolly Green Giant?”

Sam Keene - SPO

“Sounds like a plan.” He said as he pondered the food before him and with a shrug took a bite. In for a penny in for a pound…or whatever currency was used around here.

=/\=Keene Riley where are you=/\= Kelly said entering the Trading District. The last transmission from Keene placed the team here. It was a huge place however and a little bit of guidance on where she could find her team would do a long way.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

The streets were not exactly labeled, but there was a grid system they noticed when the Captain asked for location. The were on Blue Level 2, Section B 3-3. Or as the locals would have called it Blue 2 B33. There was decimals that would put you directly on the bar/tavern, but Blue 2 B33 would identify their location down to four buildings only one of which served drinks.

GM

=^= Hola Skipper.=^= Ryley replied jovially. He turned in his chair to look around for some sort of marker. Locating something that looked promising he added =^= We are in a bar roughly located at Blue Level 2, Section B 3-3.=^= He said. The captain was a fairly industrious woman and would be able to find them with that information.

Kelly looked up and saw what appeared to be a color coded map system. =/\= Blue 2 B 33. Thanks Ryley. Be there in a minute=/\=. She said over the comm line.

“Okay let’s find them and we can check in with the rest of the team,” Kelly said looking at the grid on last time before taking off in the general direction she would find her CMO and engineer.

As the pair waited a voice came on the intercome. =^=We have an active shooter in the LIS section. Please move indoors until further notice. Do not brandish weapons=^= The message repeated three times.

GM

Kelly and her group had been walking but not knowing exactly where things were she had no perspective as to how close the group was to finding Ryley and Keene. The hearing of the alarm set Kelly on edge. =/\= how far are we from 33. Can be bolt for it=/\= Kelly yelled out to anyone in the group. Hopefully someone could see how close they were. The crowds of people seemed to be following the directions.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

People about them picked up the pace, but by and large weren’t running anywhere. If any of the Federation officers had a good memory, the Low Income Sector was several hundred feet away, in a completely different compartment, that had at least two security doors between the trading district the LIS. That being said people were trying to get somewhere a little more secure just in case this was a big problem.

Section 33 was only a couple dozen yards away once the Captain was able to get her bearings. She could be there in under three minutes.

GM

Kelly looked up studying a map. “The LIS is here,” she pointed to the map, “and our guys are there. I think we ca make it if we sprint. It can’t be more than a couple of yards.” Kelly took off at a dead sprint for the area weaving between the people making their way to their spots. If they were in friendly territory, Kelly would have followed the rules but she had no idea what lockdown procedures here entailed. She was close enough to Keene and Ryley to take the chance they could meet up with them.

“If we are going to run, maybe we should bob and weave… zigzag… duck and role… what I am saying here is don’t get shot.” Ian added, he wasn’t opposed to the idea but Kelly was prone to not think carefully at times. He wanted to keep her safe and the whole lot of them. She was a glory seeker in some ways, some might say an adrenaline junkie.

Moving through the crowd she hit her comm badge. =/\=Lt. Vlader status report. There is an alert of an active shooter. Are our people safe,=/\= she asked over the comm.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

Bordeaux, Yeoman/ Chief Diplomat

It was easier for the people in the restaurant/bar to see the Captain and the Chief Diplomat scurrying towards them them the two erstwhile officers looking for two stationary people in a crowd. Irrespective of who saw whom first. The two parties found each other in the bar in a few minutes.

M’Lene squeaked as a phaser beam shot past her shoulder and she hit the deck in surprise. Hearing the familiar voice of the Captain chime through the comm, she pressed her own in response.

=/\= M’Lene to Bordeaux, um, Lt Vlader is somewhat indisposed at the moment in a firefight with the natives…we may have a bit of situation here… =/\= she hollered over the sound of weapons fire.

Lt (jg) M’Lene (CSO)

=/\=Say again Lt. Vlader is in a fight against the natives or with the natives =/\= Kelly asked for clarification on the comm badge. Looking at the rest of her party Kelly grimaced. “I’m going to the Arboretum. You guys stay here. SEAI you are in command. Ian see what you can learn about the people but stay on the ready in case I need you to act as a lawyer. The rest of you get the parts we need.”
Captain Kelly Bordeaux

This distance wasn’t particularly great and with most of the citizens off the ‘streets’ the captain made good time to the port that led to the Arboretum, which was the compartment next to the Low Income Sector, which was where the engagement was.

What did cause an issue, was the two security guards blocking the hatch. These weren’t he typical purple and gold clad ‘police’ officers. These were in combat gear, looking more like marines than the more causal dress and armed officer. They noted the Captain and their hands rested anxiously on their rifles. “This section is closed… citizens and guest have been requested to shelter in place.”

GM

“Okay well… how about that section over there?” Ian said from a huff as he followed up behind Kelly. She may have said to stay behind but they both knew that was never going to happen as he quickly punched the soldier as he tried to get the upper hand to get past them. For a diplomacy officer this felt the least tactful of ways but no one ever accused Ian of being tactful.

Bordeaux, Chief Diplomat

OOC: Really, you are going to punch an armed ‘marine’ who has his hand on his rifle… (shakes head sadly)

IC: The sheer audacity of his move might have led to its relative successfulness. The ‘what is that’ diversion had the soldier leaning, subconsciously, the wrong direction as the inevitable punch came. Not in of itself enough to crumple the man… it did leave him enough off balance for Bordeaux to continue his attack. Presuming the Captain followed his lead and attacked the other Station officer… if not, the Chief Diplomatic officer might become the ‘holey’ diplomatic officer given the other security officer’s move to bear his rifle on him.

GM

OCC: Okay I almost did a spit take laughing so hard at the ‘holey’ diplomatic officer ” line. If there was a quote of the week club I would put you up for it. Great post. Thank you for all you do for me and the Atlantis. You are amazing. “Now back on the ranch with the cows and piggys and goats”..... (narrated by the great Sam Waterson)

IC:
Kelly watched Ian and the whole event seemed to be playing out in slow motion. She was all about decking someone but at times she had other assets that worked as well. True they became the butt of jokes on how and why women played far dirtier than men at times but Kelly was always about results and the bottom line. Ian’s approach was another avenue to get where she wanted to be and yet it was not on the top of her list of things to do today. Neither, however, was waking up half asleep twelve hours ago by a perky little alien that went by the name of the worlds greatest hockey player.

Kelly was always good in a fight having her background based in security. She also never second-guessed her immediate reaction to a situation. Kelly did not have the upper body strength to take a man down such as men like Mardusk or Memphis Summervale did with a single blow to the face; however that did not mean she lacked the ability to take a man down. A boot to the face was a boot to the face. Legs were strong powerful muscles and what men lacked in the flexibility arena Kelly and women, in general, had it in spades. Snap kicking at the weapon, Kelly immediate followed with a roundhouse kick to the guard’s face. In a perfect world, she would knock the weapon out of the man’s hand and break his nose with the heel of her boot. Then she would finally admit that all the hours of doing the Plow Pose in yoga did have some practical vertical benefits past the obvious horizontal one. That was in a perfect world and right now Kelly’s world was anything but perfect. A million different outcomes could occur based on her action. She just had to see the outcome here and react accordingly to whatever it was.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

Its was as if they had planned it. The second officer raised his weapon toward Bordeaux (The Diplomat one) leaving it very available for the first of the Bordeaux (Captain one) two kicks. The rifle fired off a round as it was knocked away. The soldier turned to face Kelly as the spinning roundhouse kick laid him out. He would be disappointed in his performance when he regained consciousness.

On the other hand the Diplomat Bordeaux had received one clean punch that had stunned him. He could only reach out with his arms to try to block the security officer’s follow up blows while the security officer was doing the same trying to block the punches he presumed was coming from the Chief Diplomatic Officer. The picture was odd to look at as now the two men were involved in was could only be described and a dance as they were holding on to each other’s arms trying to get a clean punch off simultaneous with a spinning motion as they each tried to pull an arm free.

A sickening crack filled the room, like a wet towel being dropped on the floor of a bathroom. This clearly indicated that the security guards nose was broken. Kelly spun around to see how Ian was faring with his course of action. “Ian quit playing around,” Kelly snapped looking up and down the area. “Take him down before we draw more attention to ourselves.”

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

Not one to ever play fair in any fight Ian decided the best way to finish a fight with any man was to always go for the gusto, striking hard he aimed his knee at the region every man feared hoping the impact would be enough to allow a follow up strike against his temple to knock him out.

Bordeaux, Chief Diplomat

The blow landed squarely and the pain slowly reached the officer’s pain centers, like the reverberations of a gong making the noise a moment after it was struck… he had the wherewithal to look at Ian disappointingly as if questing how a man could strike another man like that. The merciful punch that followed that up put the security officer out of his misery.

GM

“Not very diplomatic of you,” Kelly shrugged watching the main collapse into a ball on the floor. “Now if you are done playing with the locals lets get to our people in the arboretum. We should also contact the ship,” she said offhand as she walked towards the entrance to the Arboretum. Jacen probably needed a heads up that they might need a fast extraction and even faster skedaddle if the situation went any further south.

Tapping her badge as she walked Kelly called the bridge. =/\=Jacen is my ship in working order and ready to hustle if needed, =/\= she asked the chief engineer.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux.

OCC: I did not cross-post this because I wasn’t sure if t would go through, be a partial message, or a clear one. Once you give me direction I will adjust the cross-posted message accordingly. ~ Kate

Ooc: hope this is ok.

It was at this time that SEAI rejoined Kelly with her group, “Captain, I suggest that we make ourselves scarce from crowded areas at the moment. If we have not already drawn the ire of the local inhabitants, it is only a matter of time before another blunder is made.”

SEAI (CNS at the time)

IC: “Well that was fairly impressive.” Said Ryley’s gruff tone from behind both Boredeaux’s as he approached. Like Ian he had clearly ignored the instructions to stay put. His med kit had been put over his head and rested on the other shoulder, the strap across his body to make it more secure. “Figured you two could use a hand in case anyone was injured.” He gave the two on the ground an apprising look and pushed the one with the broken nose slightly with the tip of his shoe. “Either of you hurt?” He asked.
