“Okay cuddle bug, you need to let go of Ruth… she will be fine…” Chris said as he began to pry his daughter from his wife’s hands as he handed it to the teenage babysitter they had gotten. A young Ms. Julinka Tompkins, seventeen and eager to work to avoid time with her mother was highly recommended by EMMA.“It’s not me its her,” Lexi patted Ruth’s back.
“Dah Dah” She won’t let “me go”, Ruth looked at Chris scowling. She was becoming more and more annoyed that only half of what she said people seemed to understand. She would say I want a coke to “drink,” but all she got was water, milk or juice unless she fast enough to snag her daddy’s straw. It was getting rather frustrating to keep talking to these people and never get what she wanted. She had more luck back when she didn’t talk at all; however, that was before her daddy came. Since he came life only got better. He brought pizza snacks, a thing called Christmas and soda, so much soda.
Eyeing the young woman in her quarters, Lexi couldn’t hold her tongue any longer. “Look Julietta,”
“Julinka,” she corrected the mom who gave her a weird look. It had to be her name. Rarely did anyone get it right.
Taking a deep breath, Lexi ignored her and looked at her husband. “Baby are you sure you couldn’t just get Jacen to,” Chris immediately cut her off knowing where the conversation was headed. Lexi was at least slightly distracted by the weird tuck roll she did trying to get lose from Ruth’s hug.
“EMMA can’t always be here hon, she is an officer like we are… and I am sure Julinka is… okay,” Chris said with a cockeyed look as the young girl almost dropped Ruth as Chris hurried to right her back into her arms before Lexi had a chance to turn around. I will kill you. Chris mouthed to the young girl with wide eyes as he turned back around smiling widely at Lexi.
“Dah Dah” Dude what was “mah me doin’” Ruth looked at Chris wide eyed. She almost made me fall, Ruth moved an arm protectively around Julinka’s neck still turned enough so that she could see Chris and Lexi.
“See she is just going to be fussy for Juliana. She is wanting to come with us. I don’t know if this is” Lexi tugged and tucked at her clothes trying to get them back onto her body as she spoke. Seeing the wide-eyed smile, Lexi instantly was on guard. “What are you doing? What was he doing,” she asked both Chris and Julinka at the same time. Lexi instantly felt like something was going on behind her back.
“It’s Julinka ma’am,” she corrected Lexi looking at Chris slightly confused. This was the weirdest goodbye she had ever seen in all her years babysitting. Normally the parents threw their kids at them like the quokka’s she had learned about in biology class as the kids bawled. This time it seemed like the husband was going to have to drag the wife out bodily.
“Nothing just was giving Ruth a goodbye kiss,” Chris said as he took a deep breath, he knew today was going to be a hard thing to pull off. It was silly sappy romantic gestures that Chris had really never been able to give Lexi in all there time pinning for one another. He missed so many chances, yet when he got permission from both Kelly and Jacen to do some space shenanigans he couldn’t help but do with Lexi for the first time. The trick was he had to get her away from her daughter and near an airlock.
Lexi gazed at them with the scrutiny only a mother possessed. Chris would cave but Julinka was immune. She was a teen and able to avoid the maternal guilt stare like chores on a Saturday afternoon. “Do you know how to get into contact with,” Lexi posed another question only to have Chris cut her off again.
The Atlantis had recently come to a planet they were exploring that had some astronomical beauties that were once in a lifetime chances. Ever since Chris had learned of this stop which was going to be for a few days he had begun to plan and plot for this chance. “She knows how to contact others…” Chris paused as he looked back at the girl.
“You do know how to contact medical right?” he said, realizing he might be giving her a little too much credit as the young girl nodded.
“Yes I run in circles like a chicken with its head cut off screaming help help help,” she bounced Ruth acting it out causing the baby to erupt in a fit of giggles.
“Mah me,” * I love Julinka,* Ruth bobbed clapping her hands happily. This person was going to be so much fun. Not as fun as Un cow Ian and Aunt Keh wee but no one was as fun as them. Un cow Ian. He stuffed her next to him in the chair and they watched TV all night. The good shows with the fire and explosions came on when he thought she was asleep. Aunt Keh wee and she would paint their fingers and toes while eating M&M’s which never made a mess as they fell out of her mouth from time to time.
Lexi’s eyes grew huge causing the teen to roll her slightly. “I am just kidding Mrs. Robins.” Turning her attention to the husband she figured she needed to calm the only rational one of the pair.
“Of course Mr. Robins… I got this… it’s not like this is my first time.” the girl said with a seemingly nervous twitch to her. The truth was this was her first, EMMA had seen she had apt skills with children, but the truth was while children loved her she knew little on childcare.
“See… she’s… competent,” Chris said with an almost stretched tone as he forced a smile. She will murder you with some unknown poison in your sleep if this backfires Chris began to play out in his head as he kept the smile firmly on his face. “Now… come on, we do have a time window Lexi doll,” Chris said as he began to push on the flat of her back through the door before looking back at the girl as he began to give her the I am watching you two-finger gesture before leaving out the door.

Did my “Dah Dee” just push my “Mah me,” Ruth looked at Julinka confused.
“Kid you’re parents are so odd,” Julinka brushed Ruth’s hair off her forehead.
Tell me about it. Try living with them Ruth smiled at the babysitter.
“Now let’s go watch some Youtube videos. We can do the bottle toss,” Julinka suggested walking to the replicator getting a bowl of chips. “Want one,”
Oh I am so going to have fun with you, Ruth smiled shoving her hand into the salty treat.

Lexi walked with Chris trying to relax. Never had she been this uptight or nervous. It was turning out to be a chronic condition with her and a point of sadness maybe. Lexi would never ever give up her child with him, but having a child changed so many things. The years of spontaneous lovers were gone. Chris knew this, accepted it fully slipping into the role of a father without a hitch and only one condition. He got up equally with Ruth and loved spending time with her; however, his condition was he wanted to also spend time with Lexi Robins not as a mother but as a wife. Lexi for her part loved having the small moments pretending things were still unscheduled and free like when she met Chris, only she had been a full-time mother for the past year. It was hard to let go. That is where Chris came in. He was firm that they had time together and as her husband, Lexi tried to fit it in. When she didn’t Chris took matters into his own hands like tonight.
“Honey, we are in a floating tin can. I get it is Valentines but there are only so many places we can go to. I know where Ten Forward is. I am not sure we need the blindfold,” her fingers slid up to the thing cloth covering her eyes. “Besides people may have questions or think things.”
“Nah your good Lt. Robins,” Jensen said with half a smirk as he winked at Chris exited the turbo. Women were crazy and Lexi Robins was no exception. They wanted romance and then complained the entire time about a guy making himself look silly for giving them the Lifetime moment. Still, that was were Jensen was off to do right now too.
“Wait is…was that Jensen,” Lexi asked as the turbo slide silently between the decks. She couldn’t feel the drop but seemed to be able to sense it. The slight click of the locking mechanism was heard as the door stopped only because Lexi was listening for it. “Are we here,” she reached up to her mask again only to feel Chris’s hand cover hers. His grip was strong but gentle at the same time. It caused ripples throughout her body as she let him lead her out of the small enclosed space to wherever she was headed.
“Okay love… this is where I was taking you,” Chris said as he removed the blindfold from his wife as he showed her the fact that there was a small basket with food wine and two Exo suits.
Lexi’s mouth opened but no words exited her lips. It was not the wine or the food that stunned her but the location and the equipment needed to go there.
“I know what you are thinking… just trust me on this love…” Chris said as he knew this scene was not all that she expected for a romantic date away with her husband. It seemed so seldom it was just the two, work kept them so busy yet the first chance Chris had he took her out an airlock wasn’t on the surface going to win him many husband points.

“Honey, baby, sexy, love,” she threw numerous terms of affection at him as her hands found his chest. Resting her palms on it she craned her neck up to look in his eyes. “I did not sign those life insurance papers. I know I said I would but I got busy so maybe we skip the airlock for now until I signed them,” she teased. Of all the things Chris loved spacewalking was not on her top ten things to do on a date. Once out there she was mesmerized by the views Chris showed her. It was just getting her out there. The fear and anxiety she felt at the start of a spacewalk was akin to leaping off a large height. Once you found the courage to jump, the fall was exhilarating.
“What if we go to the observation lounge. Yes it is prime real estate tonight buh..buh..but,” she let out a large laugh and rested her head on his chest. “My palms are sweating and I think I might be frozen right now. ‘member that EVAC class we needed for graduation when you tied a line to me and pulled me along because I was not going to make the ten yards to pass the class,” Lexi could not stop laughing now out of nervousness. Blowing out a deep breath she looked back up at Chris. “We really aren’t wearing those things right because I am pretty sure I can’t get my fingers to work.”
Lexi.
“You need to trust me on this love, it’s… going to be breathtaking,” Chris said as he pressed his arms down her sides as he pulled her close in his arms. “Besides, when have I ever half-assed anything… ever?” he asked knowing she couldn’t think of many times he didn’t try to go so far over the top that he exited the atmosphere.
“What I need right now though, from you, is to slide slowly… into those pants, but you will need to lose this top first… it’s too much fabric to keep the outer top on.” Chris said as he began to slowly pull on the front zipper from her uniform as he exposed her blue shirt from underneath. Taking the top he smiled at her as he pulled off the combadge, placing it back on top of her breast as he pressed down firmly.
“Much better, now… let’s get you in a suit, they can become very tight fits,” he said as he grabbed the bottom half of her exo suit as he pointed at the bench for her to sit down. “I need to make extra center every inch is snug and firm in here, can’t let there be anything in between.”
