Main reception room Perkins meets Vlader at the Christening of the New USS Atlantis D

OCC. okay you don’t have to RP this if you don’t want to. I was just trying something past the boring meeting or conference. I am going to set up a scene just to get it started. If you don’t like it please erase what I said about what you were doing and create your own setting. I will role with it. I am doing these all simultaneously so that people have a chance to post if they want to. I also went into your bio and pulled the stuff paraphrasing it. I wanted it to seem like Perkins knew of it but allow you to elaborate. If I got anything wrong we can just lead me where you need it to go.~Kate.

Admiral Perkins surveyed the room. Kelly’s crew seemed distinctly loyal but there was always one. One officer that could be tempted to see the benefits of a casual relationship and the perks random updates could bring. Information was always more powerful than weapons. As he surveyed the room Perkins debates where to start. He had the dossiers on everyone. Now it was time to play on the cracks in their armor. Power was all about promises and Perkins was all about promises.

Looking around the room, Perkins noticed a lot of muscle. He doubted the term would appeal to River, Mardusk, or Dan but it was accurate. Security and Marines were typically two things. The first was usually just human tanks, extremely useful in a fight but sat around after just collecting dust until they were needed again. The second purpose they served were as knives that could deal a death blow in a single strike. Vlader was very interesting. Perkins read his file. Dan served for five years with the marines before being catastrophically injured in battle. After a long medical struggle he negotiated to be retained into service, assuring his superiors he was fit to serve. Until recently he had been a marine but for some reason Kelly had now placed him in the security field. It could be an angle to explore as to why the change occurred.

“Lt. Vlader,” Perkins said moving over to shake the man’s hand. “It is an honor to meet you. I heard about your heroism in the battle. You are what makes Starfleet what it is. Marines and Security are the back bone of the service. You can have all the talking heads in the world making policy and all the scientists preening about their discoveries but without you to pull them out of the trouble they get in or protect them when they are too focused on something else Starfleet would still be just a dream.”
