Peering over Kelly’s shoulder Ian’s eyes grew wide as he snagged the PaDD.

“What the devil do you think you are doing?” Ian said as he read in full details the list as he deleted all the messages before snapping the PaDD in half over his knee.

“Ordering refreshments,” Kelly said with a mocking smile. The smile stayed until she saw the PaDD break over Ian’s knee.

“No more technology for you… kept this up and I will remove all coffee from the new ship or so help me!” Ian said in a hushed tone as he pulled Kelly’s arm away from the throngs of people.

“Aside from the coffee threat I have to say you just kinda turned me on,” she whispered in a low tone to her husband. “This is a new side of you. Can we put a pin in this and later be bad. I got a couple of PaDD’s back in our quarters you can break,” she winked at him.

“You be good… I am not going to let a feud with that horrible despicable man ruin everything that we have here. You are much better than this most days, and you cannot order the crew to commit assault against a superior officer, and yes legally that is seen as a form of assault.” Ian said as he handed back the PaDD, now sparking and split down the middle as he began running his hands through his hair as he felt every bit of his nerves on end.

“Fine then you had better move this along because I do not look good in prison orange,” Kelly put her hands on her hips. She knew she was on Ian’s last nerve but Ian had no idea just how much she despised the preening peacock Perkins. The animosity went back years. Hell, Ian was lucky he even as allowed to set foot on Kelly’s ship. Perkins was classic passive-aggressive hiding his intentions behind a smirk or a bit of humor that was anything but funny. Everyone saw through it but so many were worried more about what they could gain from him and his lower half rear admiral status to say anything. Still Ian was right. One did catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux.

“I don’t know, you look hot in everything love. Still… I just…” Ian paused as he finally saw the horde that was there way. “Mom… Jacen… Nathan… woman I haven’t had a chance to meet… but looks a lot like Jacen so you must be the sister he never wants me to meet.” Ian said as he began to look back and forth between them all. This was beyond bizzare, Chris brother was here with no Chris in sight, Jacen and whom he assumed was his sister and his mom. This all felt like a really bad beginning to some entering a bar joke.

Rolling her eyes at the spike in hormones between the two biological beings, SEAI partly did as the Captain ordered, telling some of the more trustworthy officers to prepare the Captain’s plan just in case things went south, but not to do it until she gave the signal. While it was true that SEAI did not understand a lot of Kelly’s actions, even this… Perkins managed to get even her riled up. Part of the paperwork she was doing was to keep her from dwelling on the annoying man which would cause her emotion chip to spike, something that she did not want to happen at an important event like this. Discretely turning her attention to the man in question, she decided to put her original skills to the test, and make sure to keep track of Perkin’s actions in case they could be used against him later.

Mardusk leaned over to River and whispered softly “When the little school boy with Perkins loses it, you go low and I’ll go high. I bet we get three full rotations before his body hits the floor.” and he glared at… well, it was Gravel. Glaring was just sort of his default setting.

River leaned over and smirked “I like your style. whoever gives him the least bruises buys the other a drink.” she whispered back a slight sadistic tone in her voice. She didn’t really now Perkins and his group but she had dealt with others like them. In river eyes the best place for people like them was on the ground out cold or worse.

An eerie breeze seemed to ripple throughout the room followed by a soft pneumatic swish as the doors to the reception room slid open. Two men walked beside a third individual. In this light, he had gray papery skin. White wisps of hair floated on his head adding to the feeling that the man approaching them was not of this world. He would be more appropriately placed in Cairo approach Lord Carnavon and Howard Carter than Kelly and her XO. The subtle boot scrape against the floor reminded Kelly of the shuffle of the walking dead.

“Here we go,” Kelly said under her breath.

“Captain Shultz…Erins....Bordeaux,” Perkins snapped his fingers as if he just remembered something important. “I should remember that name because you stole my yeoman.” Perkins looked at Ian standing next to the captain.

“Nah he just decided he didn’t enjoy the scent of mothballs and talcum powder,” Kelly shot back sticking out her hand lobbing half an insult at Perkins. “Told me walking into work every day was like walking into an elder care facility. Isn’t that right Ian,” Kelly made sure to use her husband’s first name instead of his formal rank as would be proper in this setting.

Perkins turned his dark gaze on the man that was once his personal attache. Bordeaux’s wife might think she was bulletproof but Perkins didn’t need to go after her to hurt Kelly. He could target other things. “Is that right…Ian,” he repeated Kelly’s question.

“Senator Harland started the rumor when he used to visit he always asked about some hand sanitizer… do you want me to try and contact him for you, sir?” Ian asked as he looked pointedly back at Admiral Perkins. “We can get his opinion on this as well”

OOC: if it is okey, Kai enters the scene!

OCC Yes of course.

IC: Entering the room Kai was not of any mean to interrupt the Captain or whoever was using the room. What took him there was a report that wasn’t filled and signed by the Captain but was of necessary needs
“Captain I may-” he stopped immediately looking at everyone’s faces “Okayyy- I’ll be going then…” he was to leave but curious about the discussion they were holding.

Kelly did a terrible job stifling her snicker. In fact there as little attempt to hide it. Perkins trained his icy gaze in her. “Excuse me, Captain I have a call for you from Admiral McLaren,” a young ensign interrupted.

“Commander I trust you can handle the admiral,” Kelly said with a smile before slipping away.

OCC: If you are in a Perkins post just continue that as if it was after this ceremony. I am going to write the ceremony where we get the new ship in this thread.

Ian looked over at Kelly as she left a wide eye as he looked back over at Kai. “Have you meet Admiral Perkins Ensign?” Ian asked, wanting anything but the eye of Sauron on him right now as he felt a little hot under his collar as he smiled widely as he looked over at Perkins. I am gonna kill you. Ian thought to himself as he leaned back to watch Kelly as she gazed back at him as she blew a kiss. You are dead to me he mouthed as he used his thumb to do a throat slash motion before coming back as he looked at the Admiral.

“Commander I trust you can handle the admiral,” Kelly said with a smile before slipping away.

There was no hiding the amount of dislike he had for the woman. As with all organizations the top was divided into two halves. These halves had their own supporters and agendas. They were only good or bad based on ones perception of them. Kelly was part of Admiral McLaren’s crew. Perkins has hated Adam McLaren since the first day at boot camp. Both men had rose to power but the animosity between them never cooled. Kelly, Dante, Rivar, and scores of other captains had tended to lean towards McLaren’s camp. This was balanced out by Perkins captain crew of Ren, Gruber, and Riddle. Ian here was someone that slipped from his ranks. Ian’s family knew the Harland family which was dotted with politicians since the anchor was dropped at Plymouth Rock. The Harland family was not shady but they did weild a lot or respect and power. It was loyalty to one group the Harland’s lacked. The Harlands always wanted to see the whole picture which at times needed to be foggy. Perkins needed to get Ian back on his side. The man was a brilliant negotiator and diplomat. His talents were wasted as the token husband of Kelly Bordeaux.

“Well isn’t that fascinating, just like old times… though you were a commodore back then, seems times fly but unless you need me sir duty calls, I am chief diplomat on board and… so much diplomating is to be done,” Ian said hoping his line of bull could be bought without getting him into too much trouble.

Bordeaux, Chief Diplomat

“Still defaulting to humor as a way to smooth over things when you are uncomfortable,” he cut to the chase. “I know your skills as a polyglot but are you now making up words. Diplomating,” he raised an eyebrow at Ian. The silence in the room was almost palpable between them. Perkins leveled a steady gaze at Ian. Of all the crew he knew this man the best. “I am glad to see you followed your directives to convince her to bring the ship to dry dock and take the new mythology class. Your cooperation has been helpful Mr. Bordeaux. Now we have another assignment for you.” Perkins kept his voice low and steady as he looked the young officer in the eyes.
