Kelly sat up letting her chair creak as she took a more professional pose. Only for a second however because her face belied no serious expression. “Odinson is your little brother. So what did you do…like not look for him after the attack?” Her voice had a bemused tone but her eyes did hold some confusion. Who would not look for family member or at the very least give it the old college try. The Breen attack was horrific but that only meant people searched harder and longer for anyone they loved or cared for.

Revna saw the look on Kelly’s face and understood how her words had sounded. “Let me explain, no there is too much. Let me sum up. D’vash is not really our little brother. My family and I visited the retreat his grandparents owned. We were there two months for the spring high holidays and festivals. Runa and I met D’vash then. We were all inseparable. We vowed we would always be family, siblings, no matter what. It was all very serious with the conviction of childhood. We missed the following year because mom was sick. The next year the Breen attacked. It’s a small community in the Nordic countries on Earth. Letters and comms went out. We knew that he and his family were safe. We just never went back. Though my parents started visiting again a few years ago. But by then, as children often do, the memory had slipped away. And we grew up and life happened.” Revna looks a little sad. “There are few things I regret in life, and now that I’ve found him again, I regret deeply we lost touch. But,” and here she laughs, “he didn’t remember either, right away. And the look on his face when I showed him pictures of his 7 year old self, was priceless!”

Kelly let out a deep laugh. “Oh my god thank god,” she put a hand to her chest. “Trust me. You have no idea how many times I wanted Michael to find a new forever family but with him being older than me it was hard to lose him in stores. ” Moving to the replicator, Kelly ordered two more coffees and brought them back to the table. “Seeing you guys as kids must have been the best flash back Thursday ever.” Sliding the cup across the surface Kelly leaned back in her chair this time propping her feet up on the corner. Revna was so easy to talk to. “A few years back for fun we posted baby picture of ourselves up and people had to guess who was who. Due to the fact we only had like two hundred crew participate, and then add that it was pretty easy to figure out Ian when pair up with Ensgin Cole Dalbec who was Bolian…most people got the right answers so we upped the game. We moved to guessing the parents of children on the ship and that was far more challenging. God the kids were so adorable. Gave away a free week of shore leave to the top five people.”

Revna nodded in agreement, “It was a wonderful flashback Thursday. And now that he knows I’m here, I’m sure I’m in for all kinds of ribbing from him. I haven’t told Runa yet though. She pranked him a few too many times when we were kids. I thought it would be fair for D’vash to have time to get some pay back.” Revna took the coffee and sipped at it gratefully. “Are there any other twins on board? That could be fun. Use baby pictures and try to decide which is which. You could even do something with ‘what did I want to be when I was a kid.’ We did that on Centurion once. That was fun and we got to know more about each other. Several people rediscovered old hobbies or new friends to practice those lingering hobbies with.” Revna was enjoying talking to the Captain. She had an easy sense of humor and first impressions said she cared about her crew. She also had the urge to ask her about Nash, but decided that even if she and Kelly were friends, that was a little awkward to ask the CO about. And though Revna was an open book, that didn’t mean she didn’t like her privacy either. She took another sip of the coffee and leaned back. “I’m curious, Captain. I’ve been told their are bowling allies on the ship and when I asked other crew about things to do off duty I’m told there are holodecks and arboretums and Mike’s bar. Surely on a ship this big, there has to be more to do.”

“Revna this is not a ship,” Kelly gestured around the room. “It’s a damn floating city or as I like to think of it a classy flying mobile home park. The quarters are just too spacious to be an RV.” Kelly loved her ship but she did have a flippant way if describing most things.

“You can come aboard as an ensign, meet someone, raise a family, and retire just like any city in the Federation. We even have a harbor of sorts,” she let out a laugh rolling her eyes. “Ian and Drayke created a program for the ship to beam up my sailboat. It’s in my personal storage. Ian jokes I take up the entire garage. Whenever I get the chance on a planet I drop it in the ocean for a spin. What activities are you looking for that we don’t have,” Kelly asked sincerely. Between the amenities and the holodecks there wasn’t much a person could ask for to do that they didn’t have

Revna laughed, “Yes this ship is a bit of a monster isn’t it?” Kelly had mentioned her sailboat a couple of times already. She’d love to get a peek at it. “I think your husband might be jealous that he doesn’t have a pretty sail boat of his own. Either that or he wants to make a man cave out of the garage,” she joked. She hadn’t met Ian yet, but he was due for an eval so she’d be tracking him down soon too. “Honestly I don’t know. I haven’t had the chance to really explore the ship yet. A gigantic backlog of over due evals has occupied my time. Honestly with a ship this big I’m not sure how Rinker did it on his own. Especially with so many wanting the counselor to chase them around and play cat and mouse games.” She waved her hand dismissively. It was the same on any ship. She was actually surprised at how many officers here actually willingly showed up on their own. “But I’m actually just curious about the amenities. It allows me to offer suggestions to patients of activities to do, and ideas for morale events. Apparently I’ll be working with your Mr. Bordeaux on that. And for when I do have free time, I’ll have an idea of what to go check out.”
Lt. Edman, Counselor

“Well I’m hoping to have my annual Parrothead cruise in the next month or so. I just need to find a real body of water. I have had them in the holodeck but it is not the same. Holodecks have thier purpose but I prefer the natural elements. Ain’t nothing like swimming in a body of water where you aren’t sure you won’t be eaten or find a squal come up out of no where where you have to actually do some real sailing instead of yelling computer end program.” Taking a sip of her coffee, Kelly leaned back in her seat relaxing. Looking at Revna, she studied the woman for a minute.

“When it comes to sailing, there is no substitute for the real thing. However,” Revna’s eyes twinkled with mischief and her voice dropped to a mock whisper, “Don’t tell my sister I told you this. But apparently someone took her on a date to the holodeck for a pirate program. Poor fellow fell over board. She forgot they were in the holodeck and there were safeties in place, so she dived in after him. I think she really likes him.” Revna picked up the coffee Kelly had gotten for her and took a slow sip of it wrapping her hands around the warmth. Her fingers tingling and a bit cold. “Next chance I get to go home, I’ll probably spend the whole trip on a boat. It’s been a long time since I’ve sailed.” She grins at something, “Well, sailed on water anyway.”

“Who in particular is trying to duck you for an eval?” The list exploded in her mind of the possible names. Everyone had thier reasons for avoiding the counselor and as a senior member of most ships Kelly knew them all.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

Revna can recall the list from memory. She’d been doing a little research to find out where these particular officers liked to spend their off duty time. As another officer found out, she wasn’t above invading their down time, if they couldn’t make it during their on duty time. “Lt. Cmdr Ian Bordeaux, Lt Cmdr Ashlynn Summers, Cmdr. Jacen Drayke, NLt Hodesk, NE Elbbirt, NE Dontdie, and NLt Iknowitall. And oddly enough Cmdr Heathcliff Rinker is coming due. But not over due yet, and he’s unavailable so I’m not worried about that one yet.” Of course there was still the issue of Lt. Cmdr Nash and his eval, but she’d pushed that one on to Rinker. He’d requested Rinker and really that just made the whole situation smoother and no lines were crossed.

She smirked, “Oh do tell Cpt. Are you about to offer an incentive to make them show up? Cmdr. th’Jir offered that if I get any flack or delays about any appointments to inform them that they will be scheduled to attend his morning run. Apparently there is a circle around the saucer section that is 1.5k and he does four laps. He said that anyone giving me grief he’ll take them for six laps. If they give me a lot of grief they will have a backpack with them. With sand in it.” She laughs remembering the conversation. “I told him I was pretty sure that those avoiding would probably just willingly show up for his run, two backpacks of sand, and then suggest they do 8 laps instead. His solution: he’d invite me on the run to interview them during it.” She suppresses a laugh, but her eyes show her amusement at it. “He called it a captive audience. I really like how the XO thinks. So what incentive shall you be offering?” She leaned back, she liked the captain and found her easy to talk to. Revna hoped the feeling was mutual. She was hoping to have a new friend in Kelly.
Lt. Edman, Counselor

“Free booze,” Kelly laughed. “If Jen is taking the bad cop route I might as well aim for the good cop.” Looking around the room, Kelly let out a deep sigh. “It’s not you, you know that right. People just have things they either don’t want to talk about or find a way of living with bad choices they made. Booze can help. Not completely orthodox but it does tend to get people to open up. Loose lips sink ships,” Kelly threw out the old adage.
