“That explains SO much. D’Vash you are in so much trouble!” She’d caught the male parents looking guilty of something when they dropped their children off. Mikhail had told her they had all been staring at her backside and whispering. She’d tried steadfastly to ignore it as it wasn’t appropriate. Now come to think of it, they had all been Star Fleet officers. She glared at him, but his own glance had her turning red.

He turned in his seat and looked at Runa’s backside. “I’m guessing it’s even more impressive now.”

Runa couldn’t help herself. “You wanna find out? You’ll have to beat me down Sleipnir’s Mane.”

D’vash just laughed at the challenge. She had no idea how good of a skier he had become since she had pushed him down he hill. That incident had driven him to compete at championship levels. He had awards and trophies to prove it, too. He wondered if she was serious about showing him the dimple when he crossed the finish line first, and then wondered what else she might be willing to show him. . . .

Runa grinned at D’Vash as he laughed, but there was something else behind the smile. His laugh had caught her attention and she wanted to know why he was laughing, and the sound of it along with the look he was giving her made her blush. And she was suddenly wary of what she had gotten herself into…

Revna remembered him talking about trophies at the staff meeting and she’d teased him about it, but she knew he’d been serious, and like the master mind she was, she wasn’t telling Runa a thing. Her sister deserved whatever she got. “I heard it, Runa! You challenged him and you can’t take it back now. And unless I’ve lost my touch, that laugh means you accept, D’Vash. I’ll declare the winner at the bottom. Neither of you can back out now.” Oh her sister was in for it, but she’d make D’Vash work for it. And she was going to laugh…well enjoy anyway, the show.

Runa had been just about to do that, in some way, get herself out of it. She had a feeling if she lost, there consequences were greater than just showing off her butt dimple, and she was very curious to know what that would be. “I would never back out. I just hate to beat him, again.” She grinned at D’Vash.

As the waitress came over, “We have food waiting from the kitchen. Ask Harry to forget the Brandy and send three glasses, and the bottle I dropped off last night.” The waitress grinned and returned shortly with the food. Chopped steak with bacon and mushroom gravy served with a big plate of boiled parslied potatoes, traditional danish rye bread with sourdough served with Lignonberry jam, and then a Danish kringle for desert. “A feast for celebration.”

“And to drink,” Revna grinned as the waitress set down 3 small banded onyx wine glasses. She took the bottle from the waitress. A bottle of 2359 Edman Mead. “From Da’s own hands. He always said the year we were born made the best batch. He sent me a few bottles.” She passed the bottle to D’Vash, the honor to pour-his. “Now incase you two cretins have forgotten, this is the same vintage we stole from your grandfather’s study,” she said to D’Vash, “along with your Grandmother’s Danish Kringle. It’s aged quite a bit more than it was then. Let’s try not to pass out in the woods this time.” If she could have managed it, she would have laughed. They’d had good times then.

D’vash laughed heartily, something he rarely did. Being with the twins brought back fond memories of a simpler time. A time of less worries and more fun. They made him feel young and carefree . . . .

“I’m surprised I didn’t die of alcohol poisoning that night, thanks to you two. If not for that strong Orion constitution, you both would have been in prison for long time.”

Odinson (CIO)

“We’re lucky we didn’t get into more trouble than we did. Remember Revna, Da and Mom were SO mad. Forbid us from even looking at D’Vash for the rest of the trip.” She laughed, “And then you snuck us out through that floor board under your bed in the cabin. The three of us took one of the skiffs out and were gone till morning? Trying to man a boat meant for 15.” Runa laughs and it carries across the room. “We’d have had better luck landing on Gothi’s island.”

Revna shook her head, “I told you to get the 2371, you and Runa got the wrong bottle. But we’re all lucky we didn’t die that night.” The three of them had finished the whole bottle, on empty stomachs and no idea of how strong the bottle was they had pilfered. “What’s REALLY lucky was that we decided NOT to go to the docks to enjoy our spoils.”

“Okay come on already, Vash. Pour the drinks so we can start eating.” Runa started serving plates. They’d had a lot of fun back then. “You know we could take this bottle and head to the holodeck. I’ve worked a long time on that program. I’m sure I’ve missed a few things, but we could light one of the fires, and really enjoy the mead.” She looked from Revna to D’Vash. She put a plate in front of each of them.

D’vash started pouring but stopped before the first glass was full. He looked down at the glass, then back and forth between the twins. “That sounds like a really good idea, or a very bad idea,” he replied with a raised eyebrow and half-grin. “If that’s the case, I suggest we have some food in our stomachs this time.”

Odinson (CIO)

Revna shook her head, “Then let’s eat.” Revna waived a waitress down and she took their orders for drinks. “We’ll eat and then go.”
And to that end Revna got up and accessed a computer terminal to reserve a holodeck. When she returned she lifted her glass to Runa and D’Vash, “Skol.”

Runa raised her own glass, “Skol.” It had been far too long and she was glad to see D’Vash. The three of them had had a lot of fun and had been so close. What had happened? Life she guessed. But now after all this time. What Runa hated was that it was Revna’s injury that had been the catalyst to get them all here together. Runa started with the bread and meat. There was no way she would be too intoxicated to ski and loose that bet.

He returned the gesture and toast and dug in, making sure not to eat too much, but filling up on carbs for the energy. Runa had grown from a cute girl into an attractive woman that had filled out in all the right places. He was going to enjoy the race. . . .

Revna watched them both and shook her head. Despite Runa and D’Vash’s eagerness for their contest, Revna still finished first. “Well hurry up slow pokes, unless you are both scared. I want my mead and a huge fire. Let’s go, come on.” She grinned at both of them.

Runa sipped at her drink and grabbed the small wine glasses. “I’m ready,” she stood up and as she passed D’Vash she leaned down and whispered, “are you?” Maybe she did and maybe she didn’t wink at him, and then she laughed as she headed out the door.
