Revna sighed, lost in though for a moment. “I don’t know. Long term, certainly. I go to sickbay every 3 days for treatment with the dermal regenerator and tissue migrator. The progress is slow. Some days I can’t even tell a difference. If it had been possible at the time, I probably would have two artificial lungs right now. But the last ones on hand went to officers whose lungs were, gone, and mine were salvageable. Most people think that getting an artificial organ is a simple request of a replicator, but it’s not.” She shrugs a little. “I was told that eventually the treatment might not work. That as the tissue migrator sped up my bodies own healing process that it might heal incorrectly. Surgery, to reopen the wounds and fix them might be possible, but the risk is very high. I haven’t gotten there yet, so for now I wait.” She sips her coffee a moment. “But I will admit to you captain, that some days it’s hard. It’s hard to remember to not laugh, to walk at less than half a normal pace, to fight the urge to not yawn because that is the lesser of the pain. But I’m alive, and I intend to be for a long time.”

Kelly nodded at her explanation. It spoke the steely will and drive the woman possessed after experiencing things that would make most other officers crumble. “I admire your tenacity and spirit but in truth what else can someone do but give up or adapt like you have.” Taking a long sip of her coffee, Kelly leaned back relaxed and happy enjoying her time with Revna on a personal level instead of a purely professional one. “So what is it like serving with your sister? I know if Mike and I were on a ship together we would have a mutiny.”

Revna leaned back in the chair and stretched her legs out, holding onto the warmth of the coffee cup. “It’s a blessing and curse at the same time. Runa is....well she’s always been more light hearted than me. And that’s saying a lot. We always got along when we were kids. Always up to some prank or mischief. I was really confused when I first came on board and I was given the materials for the school. It didn’t occur to me that they thought I was Runa.” Revna smiled over the memory of walking into the school room, feeling totally overwhelmed at taking over civilian duties as well as her counseling duties to find Runa. “She knew I was coming here, but didn’t tell me. Well our letters got crossed in passing so I didn’t know. She’s…one of the kindest people I know, but full of life.” Revna shrugged a little. “It’s hard to explain. She has never had a desire to serve in Star Fleet but her favorite places to teach are ships or star bases. It’s strange having her here, now. She mother hen’s me to no end and drives me crazy. Tells me what I should and should not do, and then tries to enforce it.” Revna smiles almost laughing, “But I can’t imagine not having her here. And of course she is overly fond of the ‘twin’ trick. She’s already thrown a few people for a loop. And of course she always leaves it to me to explain what’s going on.” She sips the coffee, “It’s been amazing having her here. Though I’m sure her antics will eventually be my tipping point.”

“I can’t imagine seeing someone that looked my reflection in the mirror walking about,” Kelly let out a laugh. “Still I knew a set of twins in the academy. Keith and Kent Kalloway. They used to change duty shirts between classes. I used to joke that they shared a brain along with a profile.” Kelly glanced at her watch. It was not that she was bored but more that she could not believe how fast and easily time flew with Revna. It had been a long time since she had had a female officer on the ship that Kelly felt she could bond with besides Lexi. There was an easy honesty with the new counselor.

Revna was enjoying the conversation and her time with the captain. Friendships on Centurion had been unique and intimate in different ways than relationships seen on other ships. The shared loss, stress, grief, joy, and over powering worry made for friendships that shared intimate emotional connections and a need to support and care for each other. And relationships with those there as patients were always professional, but deep and straining at the same time. Revna was enjoying the laid back atmosphere of this encounter and had no desire to put work into it, or anything else.

Abruptly the door flew open and in bounced a kid about ten or twelve. “Hey Ms. Kelly,” she waved approaching the desk with a spring in her step. Seeing another person in the room the kid stopped. Hooking a thumb at the door she looked at Kelly and the woman a little surprised. “It was unlocked…that is why I didn’t knock.”

“You should always knock but it’s fine. Revna this is Maybelle. Maybelle this is our new counselor,” Kelly introduced the pair.

As Kelly said her name, Revna spoke in unison with her, “Maybelle Spunkler.” Oh my…the description Nash gave her of this young girl was NOTHING compared to the real thing. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Maybelle.”

Maybelle looked the other officer up and down as if searching for something on her person. “Hi,” Maybelle flopped into the open chair next to Revna. “Do you like the ship? The old one was cool but this one is so much nicer.” Maybelle had an ease in the captain’s office that most officers rarely found.

Revna gave the captain a curious, but humored look at turned back to Maybelle and gave her the same once over Maybelle had just given her. “I do like this ship. It’s huge with lots of areas to explore. And so many interesting people on it as well.”
Lt Edman, Counselor

“I agree” she spoke in not quite a kid, not quite an adult tone. “I find the senior staff is the most interesting. Oh by the way, Miss Kelly, I just came from Mr. Drayke’s office. He says he is not accepting delivery of the IFEA Infinity Maximum Pleasure and Funzone you ordered nor is he etching that in the bulkhead above the door.”

There was a page on the comms as if on demmand Jacen’s voice came through =/\= Captain… Kelly… do you have a small pint size kid complaining to you about how I am doing my job? Cause I turned around to tell her to stay put and then suddenly as if by magic she was gone.=/\= Jacen said with a gruff tone as he was getting a little annoyed but trying to be polite.

Kelly looked at Revna and then Maybelle with her eyes a bit wider. If the Star Fleet purchasing department ever looked at her requisition close enough there could be an inquiry. She had a good answer but still…there would be an inquiry. “Well, he might be right on the name over the door. Maybe you could come up with a few better ideas at our next Parks and Rec Meeting?”

“I agree completely. I told Mr. Mardusk the name and he choked on his coffee laughing so hard. “I am not sure why he is finding it funny and Mr. Drayke seemed like it was a name I should cover my ears when it is said but…meh,” she shrugged. Maybelle had no idea why this was such a huge deal to the adults. For her it was simple. Order it. Put it together, and then go to town on it having fun.
