He returned the grin in kind and slid down beside her, moving in close. “You know, it was probably that incident when we were kids that made me swear off any kind of alcohol for years. Only drank the stuff when it was required for undercover work, and Intel has some wonderful anti-intoxicating drugs so you don’t lose control when you’re doing covert ops. That can mean the difference between life and death.”

Runa spread the blanket out, letting half of it cover him and turned to the side, just a bit, so she could look at him. “I felt like I was sick for days. Every time we’d come out of our room my mother would laugh at us and that only mad Da mad all over again and the yelling would start.” She listened to him talk for a moment somewhat about his work. He’d said earlier he was the CIO on board and Runa had an idea of what that meant. She wasn’t Star Fleet, but she wasn’t stupid either. “You know I visited the resort over the years. My parents started going back, every high holiday, and I joined them a couple times before I left Earth. I always asked your mom how you were doing, and she would give me this bored generic, ‘he’s fine out there somewhere,’ waving at the sky. I thought she was still mad a me for all the trouble I got you into. But she didn’t know did she?” She took a sip of the mead, warmed and spiced it was very good, and deceptively easy going down, hence the sips. But she found she didn’t like the idea of D’Vash going into live and death situations. “Do you still do work like that, now?”

“Much of what I did was highly classified, so I couldn’t tell her even if I wanted too. I would contact her when I could and tell her I was posted to a top secret base, analyzing information. That seemed to put her at ease, but I know she still worried. As the XO on my previous ship, the amount of danger did decrease, but I missed being in the field. I had a few opportunities for XO positions on other ships, but I needed to get back in the field. The CIO position here was offered to me, so I took it. And I’m very glad I did. It gave me a chance to get reacquainted with you and Revna.”

He hadn’t answered her question, which didn’t mean that he did still do deep classified work, but it didn’t mean that he did not. Did that bother her? Not really. Runa might not be Star Fleet but she understood that adventure’s soul that their people carried. That didn’t mean she liked it, the idea of him risking his neck, but he didn’t owe her, an old friend, any promises or explanations. He was still here, and she was proud of him for that, because that meant he’d done his job well. But as for the choices that brought them all here, “Perhaps then we should toast The Norns, that in their wisdom, brought us all to this place.”

He took a swallow of the mead. “Yes, much better than the last time. Who knows, maybe it’ll lower some inhibitions and open the door for other. . . .excitement?”

Odinson (CIO)

Runa contemplated him over the rim of her cup for a moment and grinned. “It certainly could.” She raised her glass a little, not quite in a toast, knowing Runa, more of a dare and took a long swallow of the warmed mead. “But lowered inhibitions and excitement can lead to unexpected results. So truth or dare, Vash,” she tapped his upper arm her eyes dancing, “come tomorrow morning, do you still want to be my ‘brother’ or something else?”
Runa Edman

D’vash grinned. “Truth. and the truth is, that as two consenting adults, I think ‘something else’ is worth investigating.”

There it was now out in the open. The innuendoes they had spoken about all night were revealed. D’vash was attracted to Runa, there was no doubt. The cute 11 year old he had a crush on had grown up into a beautiful, well developed woman. He enjoyed seeing the dimple on her butt cheek and was hoping that it would lead to more.

Runa had never admitted, not even to Revna, her not quite realized crush on D’Vash when they were children. She had been, well she still was, older than him and she wasn’t quite sure what to make of that when she was 11. One of the older girls had noticed how hard he tried to get her attention, and had teased Runa about Orion males maturing faster than humans. Runa hadn’t exactly known what the girl had meant (or if it was even true), at the time, but it had made her blush none-the-less. She then spent the rest of the time purposely teasing the other boys in an attempt to ignore whatever it was. She was older now and new it had been attraction, but she, at least, hadn’t been old enough then. She nodded in agreement, they really should explore this ‘something else.’

“Now, it’s your turn. Truth or dare,” he said with slightly more emphasis on the dare.

Odinson (CIO)

Her eyes widened and that devilish grin was back with his emphasis on ‘dare.’ “Oh that’s not fair. You know I’ve never been able to say no to a dare.” She glanced down at her drink considering how much was still left, and then looked him in the eye, her decision already made. She’d need a lot more than that to lower her inhibitions, but she didn’t need to lower them…and she downed the rest of her drink, setting the cup aside. “Dare.” She leaned in, just a breath away, “What exactly do I have to do?”

D’vash sat his own glass down after finishing it and looked her straight in her eyes. Her lips glistened from the remnants of he mead, and her eyes held the mischievous glance he remember from their youth. He already knew what the dare would be, but he was letting Runa think he was in deep contemplation of what it should be.

Her grin widened as he actually finished the mead. They were both all in as the saying went. His prolonged silence had her mind racing through the possible ‘dares’ he might pose, but her eyes never left his as she waited. Which had the unexpected result of making her blush, and Runa hadn’t blushed in years. As close as she was to him she could smell the mead and spice on his breath. Her left hand was idly tracing circles along his shoulder while she waited.

A few moments passed and he began to grin. “Kiss me,” he responded, “and I don’t mean just a quick peck between two old friends. I want you to think of it as kissing a former lover. A lover you let slip away years ago and now you’re together again in an attempt to relight the fire that once burned so passionately. . . .”

Odinson (CIO/part-time Don Juan)

She placed a finger over his mouth, her eyes never leaving his, “I get the idea.” The fingers of her right hand traced up his left arm, across his shoulder, and then rested against his chest. “You’ve been away from home too long.” She leaned just that bit closer, that they were sharing the same breath. Her voice feathering into the space between them, “You’ve forgotten that Norse women wrote the book on passion.” She closed the distance brushing her mouth softly against his. This wasn’t a friendly peck between friends. It also wasn’t a kiss to reignite old passions. Instead it breathed life into a new fire, banking embers that would smolder indefinitely. She could pretend, but they weren’t past lovers finding each other again, and this wasn’t just lust. One hand moving to rest right over his heart, and the other behind his neck, pulling him closer. She fanned the flames a moment longer before suddenly deepening the kiss, and it was like a protostar exploding into existence.
Runa Edman, (what dare?)

Feeling the heat build between the two of them, even in the chilly holodeck, D’vash opened himself to receive Runa’s kiss. As a young boy, he had often fantasized about a moment like this with her. The setting was virtually the same as he imagined. The only difference being, now they were consenting adults on a starship speeding through space.

After the briefest of moments when their lips first gently touched, the kiss turned into a raging passion. He placed one arm around her waist and the other around her shoulders. A moment later, D’vash had pulled Runa on top of him and held her tightly as they continued to burn. . . .

Odinson (CIO)

There’s an interesting reaction when a man puts his arms around a woman. It can feel off or invasive or feel like nothing at all, setting off warnings or simply dousing her in proverbial cold water, whatever it is, it is simply not right. Or it creates a ripple of warmth spreading out from the strength contained in those arms. A pleasurable wave as the heat spreads, allowing her to relax, to soften against him. And for Runa it was very much the case of the later. She found herself settled on his lap, not quite sure how she got there, but not caring either. As he held her tighter, butterflies took off in her stomach. The feeling spread, merging with the warm wave being in his arms had already created. It was an intense and insistent feeling of rightness and belonging. As she kissed him, or was he kissing her, she was caught in the fire and had no intentions of trying to escape it.
Runa Edman

D’vash felt any inhibitions float away as she settled and relaxed in his arms. The attraction had been there since they were kids and he was thankful that he was finally able to act on those fantasies from so long ago.

The kiss was all he imagined it would be like and more than he hoped as he sensed the passion rise between them. The heat from the fire and the warm clothing they were wearing was beginning to make things warmer, even in the Nordic environment of the the holodeck.

The attraction had never left Runa, just lain dormant. At 11 years old she hadn’t recognized it, but now, as an adult she did. And every time she’d visited Varingskollen with her parents, she made it a point to ask his mother about him. The photos in the main lodge, of the boy she had known, had always triggered a twinge of longing, what if. Now Runa knew what if and it was intense, fiery, and more than her imagination ever came up with. To say that she was startled by it would be a huge understatement.

He slowly broke the kiss and smiled at Runa. “I hope that dare wasn’t too stressful for you, because I enjoyed it and would like it to continue, but perhaps in a more. . . .appropriate setting?”

Odinson (CIO)

Runa smiled softly back at him. Her surprise over the intensity and heat clear on her face, but she didn’t look away or move from where she was relaxed in his arms. Her smile changed to a grin at his words. Stressful? There were a lot of words for what that dare had been, but stressful wasn’t one of them despite her attempt to catch her breath and her racing pulse. “I would very much like to continue, but it’s too long of a trip back to Varingskollen and Earth. Where are you thinking?”
