“I greet you. I am Su’kna. nuqneH qaleghneS. That’s Klingon. It means in a very nice way, ‘What do you want? I am honored to meet you.’ It’s how we say hello.” Su’kna helped Tatyl pour water for the plants.

Runa turned back to the door and continued speaking to Evrilla, “We offer outings to the holodeck, or parts of the ship that are kid safe, or mini lessons, on off days so that children that don’t regularly attend the school can participate. The ship recently had an encounter with ‘pirates’ and the children were fascinated with learning the history. I’ve planned some holodeck time to take them to learn how an old sea faring boat works.”

Revna laughed, “I suppose you’re recruiting me to help with that, and our brother kin too?”

“You have no choice, but yes I’m hoping to corner him into agreeing too.”
Runa Edman, Teacher

Evrilla laughed at the sisters’ easy byplay. “Tatyl is… unused to the children. She could not attend an Aenar school, and I was unwilling to take her into Andoria’s center. Unfortunate but necessary.” She tilted her head, watching her daughter. “Instead, she attended school in a science lab. She won’t touch anything unless you explicitly tell her she can.” She was, in a way, acknowledging that she trusted Runa, in a way she hadn’t trusted the entirety of Andorian society. “I have faith that she will choose to attend school, although her education has been… skewed toward biological sciences.”
-Dr. Evrilla

Runa smiled, “When it comes to science we use a self discovery method. So the children get to learn about whatever they are interested in. We do have topics the teachers pick. For instance we are learning about how lunar objects affect the tides on planets, to go along with our study about boats and how ancient sailors used the tides.” She glanced back into the main rooms to make sure everything was still calm chaos. “You are by no means required to enroll Tatyl in the ship’s school, but if you and she would like to try it out for a week she’s welcome to join us.”
Runa Edman, Teacher

Evrilla smiled, somewhat self-deprecatingly. “Her education has been reliant on me for far too long.” She paused for a moment, swallowing nervously. “She wishes to learn combat, as is both her right and heritage, but I cannot teach her the Ushaan. I had hoped, perhaps there would be another. If you have any recommendations, I would be deeply grateful.”
-Dr. Evrilla

Runa looked at Revna she really wasn’t quite sure what Ushann was. Revna nodded, “I might know someone, but I would have to ask first. If they agree is it alright for me to have them reach out to you?” Revna was thinking of the XO, but what little she knew first hand of Andorian culture the Ushann was very ritualistic and personal. She felt comfortable asking Jen about it, but not ‘signing him up’ for it. She liked the XO despite his ‘militaristic’ outlook. She found it blunt and refreshing. That reminded her, now that she was healed, she really should take him up on his offer to join his morning run. Revna glanced over toward Tatyl and the other children with a smile. They seemed to be doing alright. “I also believe that you’ve been given family quarters, Evrilla? Which means your quarters are on this deck as well.”
Lt Edman, Counselor

Evrilla smiled, relieved. “If they are willing, I would be honored.” Tatyl’s family should be instructing her, but none were available to take on the role. “Yes, I believe they are.”

“Well then, shall we continue our tour, or would you like to stay a bit longer?” If Evrilla had questions she wanted to ask she didn’t want to rush her. She glanced toward Tatyl and Su’kna. She was sure Runa wouldn’t mind if Tatyl stayed while they made their way about the deck and towards the arboretum and then sickbay, but Tatyl had already shown a preference to stay with her Amma, and Revna didn’t want to cause her any anxiety. And she was sure both Evrilla and Tatyl would feel better being together once they got to sickbay.
Lt Edman, Counselor

Evrilla reached out, a gentle brush upon her daughter’s mind telling her all she needed to know. “Tatyl will stay and I shall go. She has become enamored, and I am glad for it.” She had no doubt the Counselor had questions, questions she would not ask in front of the girl. Evrilla was, after all, rather suspicious and well aware of it.

Runa nodded, “She’s welcome to stay as long as she likes. The school day officially ends at 1500, but the classrooms stay open until 2000 hours for the children to explore their own interests, to get extra help, or to work on group projects.” Hearing Ms Runa and Tatyl’s mother, Su’kna was excited that her new friend would be staying and proceeded to regale Tatyl with all the information her young mind had about every plant in the tiny arboretum.

Revna waved by to Runa and had to stop to give hugs and attention to a few of the children on the way out, but soon she and Evrilla were walking along the corridor. “It is not my way to pry or force a conversation, unless necessary, Evrilla. But it is more than obvious that something or someone plagues you. Our security and intel divisions on board are the best in star fleet. I have no doubt they are aware of anything that might put anyone on this ship at risk. I would like to help you and Tatyl settle in and find your way here, and I am here if you would like or need to talk.” Revna led her down the main corridor and then off a side one leading to the starboard side of the deck towards the family quarters. Revna didn’t push, those who needed to talk would, eventually, she just had to wait till they were ready or the issue resolved. Now with the ‘official’ offer made, “Now, if you were an officer, and not civilian, I would ask what your strengths and weaknesses are that you bring to the crew. So instead I will ask about your work and what your plans are while you are here.”
Lt Edman, Counselor

Evrilla’s mouth quirked up at the mention of Starfleet intel. “I am not ashamed to admit I took my daughter and ran. The politics of Andorian business are cutthroat.” Literally, at times, she didn’t add. “My work… I am a pathologist, but my specialty is prediction and models. Knowing the course an illness will take, extrapolating its methods, even guessing which species can be affected. I am much more useful here, where I can instantly analyze than I was sitting in an ice cave working with month-old data.”
