(snip)

2 days later, Runa set the pitcher down on the bar infront of Mardusk as he sat down. “Fix the jukebox,” was the only thing she said to him.
Runa

Gravel picked up the pitcher and grinned. “Mike got mad at you, didn’t he?” he asked with a knowing tone and took a drink.

Mardusk

There was a lot Runa could say to that. She was up for pranks, bets, dares, whatever it was that Mardusk had gotten up too. She honestly didn’t care that Mike was mad at her. It happened. The one constant about Runa, she’d p+## you off eventually. “Oh yeah.” She filled a drink placed it on the bar and turned back to him. “He put Revna in the middle of it. He can be mad at me, ban me from the bar, send a Detroit punk rocker who eats human flesh after me. But I’m not going to be the reason he and Revna fight. So just fix the thing.”

The last thing she heard Mike say was to tel Revna to ‘talk to your sister.’ Because she’d ‘allowed’ Mardusk to fiddle with the jukebox. And of course she didn’t know Mike was joking. But she didn’t like the idea that Revna needed to be the go between.
Runa (last of the Edmans)

“Relax, pee-wee. I guarantee Mike isn’t mad or putting anyone in the middle of anything.” and he took a drink.

Runa grinned slightly, “Did you call me Pee-wee??” She poured and mixed several drinks before beginning to clear and wipe the bar. “Mike hired a new manager. I’m gonna go out on a limb and guess he’s not coming back long term.”

“Besides, you’re telling me you don’t want to see your new brother-in-law on that stage in a dress singing Ella Fitzgerald?”

Mardusk

She stopped wiping the bar down, turned, pointed a finger at him and glared. “Alright spill. I got dragged into something, didn’t even know there was a thing, get yelled at by my new brother, called Pee-wee by his friend, and roped into running a bar, and told the new manager might literally eat the flesh off my bones. Spill. If I’m going through all that I wanna know why.”
Runa

Mardusl grinned and said “Well, I dunno about any new manager, but Mike and I had a bet… long story short he lost when I put the vid of him and your twin on the jukebox. So now Mike… ‘Big Mike McKenzie’… has to do a show… dressed in drag.” and he grinned.

Mardusk

Runa’s mouth twitched, and then she bit her lip to stop from laughing…she shook her head. “Next time…Mr Mardusk you decide to win a bet on my time, warn me first. There is a big difference between pi&&!ng him off and taking advantage to win a bet.” She chuckled. Then the idea of Mike in drag really set in and she began to laugh in ernest. “When is this concert and where?”

Mardusk chuckled and said “Dunno. But it has to be in the next six months, and it has to be recorded live. That’s the bet.”

Well now both Mardusk and Mike had it coming to them. “As for the manager it’s Bubbles.” Runa couldn’t wait, but just like with Big Mike she had no intention of being annoying or overbearing, but she was excited to meet her. She was more excited to get back at the both of them. She needed to call Revna.
Runa

Mardusk’s face went hard. “What did you say? Did you say Bubbles? As in Mathis?” and he sat back and clenched his teeth. “That sonofab!÷@#. He wouldn’t dare.” and he looked at Runa and said “Tell me your kidding.”

Mardusk

Runa was sick of this. “Yes, I said Bubbles, as in Mathis. That’s what Mike said. If it’s a joke it’s coming from him You don’t like it, go call Mike and leave me out if it. Mike said the same exact thing, plus a bit more, when I told him about the concert you put on. You gonna get mad, get the he&& out of the bar. I’m not putting up with it. You two use somebody else as your fall guy.” Runa went down the bar filling drinks. She almost thought by Mardusk’s reaction that Mike had given her a way to get back at him. But that didn’t hold water because she found out about Bubbles before Mike found out about the Jukebox. But if Mardusk disliked her that much maybe Runa could enlist her assistance.

“Oh, you think I’m upset for me? No no… I’m upset for you. You don’t know her… I do. And you are in for a world of… well… something.” and he chuckled and shook his head, but his jaw stayed clenched nonetheless..

Runa rolled her eyes at the large Orion. “I’m not in for anything. She arrives and I walk out. It’s her bar then. Mike hired her, I have my own work to get back to. Not to mention the captain backed me into taking over for Revna as counselor. So yeah, she can have it.”

She gave the angry security chief his space, refilling his pitcher as needed, letting him decide if he wanted to talk. Oh Mike had it coming. Majorly.

Mardusk, CoS

A few days later, Runa was in the bar early. Having received a message from her baby sister, Runa wasn’t in a good mood. She stood in the middle of the darkened bar, doors locked contemplating how best to raze the bar to the ground. She wouldn’t really, she liked Mike and loved him for loving Revna. Really though there was something about McKenzie men and making her sisters cry. She was thousands of lightyears away from both her sisters, and there wasn’t a thing she could do about it. She felt like hitting something, and she hadn’t felt like that in many many years. She walked behind the bar and through the back doors, shoving them open harder than she needed to. Everything was ready, kitchen, bar, all of it. Runa never left the bar a mess. One of the walls was now covered in children’s art work, and she began to take it down, carefully, she’d send these on to Mike; the children had made them for him after all. Oh except for that wall over there, those were all made for Mardusk, they could stay. A wicked smile crossed her face, it was time to send Revna and Mike a little wedding present. Revna would be totally embarrassed.

It had been almost a month at this point. She needed a break, if Mike didn’t like it, oh well. She turned walked out of the doors, turned and locked them. She programmed the panel next to the door, ‘Bar’s Closed. Open again tomorrow. I need a day off. -Runa’ Being tense and angry wasn’t her, she needed to go blow of some steam.
