“You ever been married? Or been close to being?” he asked, why was anyone’s guess.

Mardusk

“Married no. Close? Kind of. More like almost close, but then I got labeled a fire-haired Irish vixen that stole, cradled, and shattered his heart into a million unmendable pieces.” She picked up the strawberry lemonade and finished it. “What about you? Or is it just a trail of crazy exes?” she asked, grinning.

O’Farrell

Mardusk laughed loudly. “Oh no… please tell me you didn’t get close to almost marrying that frosted-tips, pukah-shell necklace wearing idiot? ‘Cause if you did, I think I may need to go wash my hair or something.” and he laughed again.

“No.” Cara rolled her eyes hard and did the most impressively indignant hair flip that only a true red head could pull off. “Nay, I have self respect. Spent two weeks in New Orleans on vacation. End of it he decides I’m gonna be his wife and that I’m leaving Star Fleet because he said so. Then that daft pup literally tried to put a ring on my finger. His idea of a proposal was ‘Wear it your mine now and everyone should know it.’ Yeah that was a resounding No.”

“And for me? Nope. And the road of crazy ex’s is a dead end street with one insane asylum on it. Bubbles is my Grant. But I never got no where near close to close to close to marrying her. ” and he chuckled.

Mardusk

“That’s a good thing.” She sat back idly running a finger over the rim of her glass. “Ideal vacation. And nothing vague.”

O’Farrell

Mardusk’s metallic green eyes flicked to the finger on the glass and then back to hers and he smiled. “Somewhere new that I’ve never been. I don’t have a type of place. I enjoy all kinds of weather and all types of settings; beach, mountains, big cities, rural countryside… no real preference. All I want is to be off a ship and away from work. And I’d want to go with someone if possible but not necessary… and not talk about Star Fleet or work or trade work stories or anything like that. So for me, the ideal vacation isn’t a place… it’s a time period with a person. Be that me or a friend or… you know… whoever. What about you? Same question.”

Mardusk

Cara thought about it. “I love the mountains. One of those mountain vacation resort places ‘sounds’ great. You can socialize with complete strangers who know nothing about you or your work, but if don’t want to be social you don’t have to, you can go get lost in the mountains. Which really wouldn’t be hard for me.” She winked and grinned at him. “The Didiron mountain range on Vissia are supposed to be unlike any other. My sister swears by Risa, but the actuality doesn’t seem to live up to the hype.
But I would really love to visit Dakala. Rogue planet, always night time, lit up by bioluminescent plants and animals. It’s so totally different than anything we are accustomed to. But where ever it is I’d rather go with someone than alone. Memories are always better when you have someone to share them with.” The motion of her finger on the rim of the glass had stopped while she talked, then began again while she thought. A black onyx band, peridot heart topped by a crown, held by two hands sat on her right ring finger with the crown facing outward. “Alright, your favorite piece to play on the bass guitar, and why?”

O’Farrell

Metallic green eyes went back to the glass and then he said “Anything by Parliament. Now don’t get me wrong, I love my punk rock. Love it. But as far as a rhythm bass rift goes? Nothing… nothing compares to funk. You familiar with the genre… Cara? And what’s your favorite music?” His eyes went back to the finger for a second time and he then looked at her directly and said “I’m gonna be so pissed if you’re just messin’ with me.” and he smiled and then chuckled.

Mardusk

“I think the term would be ‘aware of’ funk, I’m not really familiar with it. If we’re talking just the sound of the instruments - swing music, if we’re talking lyrics - old American country or opera, if your talkin’ community - punk. Those folks are honest in a completely unique and refreshing way.” Cara met his gaze just as directly. “Messin’ with you? Naw, I don’t know you well enough to mess with you, yet.” She laughed softly, “So are you the kinda person to leave ya friends haggin for some chick you just met?”

O’Farrell

Mardusk leaned back and smiled. “I don’t leave anyone hanging for just ‘some chick’. Especially one I just met. Fortunately, I don’t have that many friends to distract me from ‘some chick I just met’. Although I have enough acquaintances and collogues that it could be problematic. Now, if you are asking if I forgot my boy Odinson… no. But I said eight for him. It’s six. Although I should swing by medical and get a elephant tranquilizer. If he and I are meeting at Mike’s and Bubbles is there… well… let’s just say it will be interesting.”

Cara shook her head, “Naw, you forget you’re gonna have a body guard. Seriously though, if she goes nuts don’t be nice. I mean you said this guy, Odinson?, was the intel chief right? Between the two of you, surely you can handle one crazy female. But ya know, if not, I’m the expert on dealin’ with crazy.”

He leaned back and crossed his arms on his chest. “So…” and he leaned forward and put his crossed arms on the table, “… want to eat with me again? After you get settled? If you can squeeze me in between operations guys and shuttlebay crew?” and he grinned.

Mardusk

She began to laugh, “Oh save me from the operations chief! I mean points for originality but I’ve never had someone purposely be bad at their job. That’s just wrong.” Her eyes lit up and she laughed softly. “Alright Gravel, I owe you for the tour, not having to eat alone my first night on board, and for stoppin’ me from gettin’ lost findin’ my quarters. Bubbles won’t be there tonight, promise. Besides gotta make sure you’re around for another dinner.”

O’Farrell

Mardusk smiled and said “That was a whole lotta words to say “Yes, I want to have dinner with you again.’, but I’ll take it. How about night after tomorrow? We can come here or we can grab something and go eat somewhere else. Your call. I’m flexible.”
