(snip)
It’s said (other than in the privacy of your own quarters) that there is nothing more intimate between two people than to dance. And for Cara it felt very true as Gravel supported her through the dip, each turn and spin, as they moved through each missed step as if it was part of their rhythm. For the first time since he entered the turbolift with her that first time, Cara actually considered his sheer size. She didn’t exactly have chairs or other furniture to accommodate. “Where ever you feel most comfortable. I have no preference.” As he lifted his arm she turned in and then on the next, 1..2..3.&.4..5.&.6.&.7.&.8, count she turned back out. With each the space between them was less, was closer, and their rhythm became smoother.

Cara

“Well…” 1 - 2 & 3… “… if we are planning…” 4…5 & 6 & 7 & 8, “… to do what I think-” stumble stumble 3… 4… 5…”- we are talking about…” and he sighed heavily and then stopped, lifted her high and fast, throwing her legs out behind her and then brought her down faster, swinger her towards him so her legs wrapped around his waist. He bent over, lowering her upper half towards the floor.

“Then how about my place if you are okay letting me wear just your hair for a while?” and he grinned at her and licked his lips.

Gravel

He was making her breathless, and not just with the dancing. She wrapped her arms around his neck as he lowered her to the floor. She was oddly relaxed, nervous, and utterly still at the same time. She blushed, Orions weren’t telepathic were they? Because she’d had a very similar thought earlier that day. Her eyes dropped to his mouth and then returned to his amazing green eyes as she nodded agreement. “Now see that’s all I thought I was wearin’. I suppose I could just shave my head and wear yer hat instead.”

Cara

He smiled at her and said “Oh, you’ll be wearin’ the hat… nothing else besides me, though.” and he pulled her up and, for the second time that night, kissed her like only someone wanting to know how every millimeter of her body felt on his could.

Gravel

She looked at him, “Will I now?” She grinned snagged the hat off his head and flipped it over and up and on to her head, smirking at him. And then he was kissing her, and she couldn’t seem to get enough. Kissing Gravel was incredible. Cara pressed closer, his warmth seeping into her through their clothing. She kissed him, sometimes questioning, a slight hesitancy, and at other times with deep desire, but always there was more.

“15 MINUTES REMAINING TO RESERVED TIME.” The voice of the computer startled her, and after a long moment she pulled away with a soft laugh. “Now what?”

Cara

He held her close and whispered between soft kisses and nibbles “Now… we decide… if tonight… ends now… or if… we go… somewhere… private.”

Gravel

Little shocks of electricity sent shivers racing over her skin. She sighed, eyes closed, totally distracted. “How are…we…ta decide…that…I canna…think straight…” she kissed him deeply, then along his jaw. “But that…would be…the point?” Then the computer beeped again, and Cara sighed and pulled back trying to breath. “Gravel…ya gotta put me down. I’m not lettin’ ya carry me out of here.”

Cara

He slid her down him until her feet set on the ground. He kissed her deeply and then said “My head is spinning and I’m pretty sure my heart hasn’t pounded this much ever. So… where are we going?” he asked with a grin.

Gravel

Cara took a deep breath after he kissed her, again. “Yeah…both of us.” She took the hat off and placed it back on his head. She stepped away, not that she wanted to, but she needed air…maybe. She walked over to the bar and finished her drink. Then, heels clicking a soft passage across the floor, dress swaying, and picked up her sweater and slipped it on, over her shoulders and dress, and belted it closed. She turned and looked at him, leaned against the pillar, and sighed. “I vote your place, but I canna call out tomorrow no matter how much I would really like ta.”

Cara

Gravel smiled and said “My place it is then. And we both go to work tomorrow like we are supposed to. I guess I’ll just have ta do my best to make you want to spend that day off in three days with me.” He kissed her softly and then said “After you.” and he smiled and put his hand on the small of her back and they turned to the door as the venue vanished and the room went to black and yellow grid.

It seemed like an eternity… or a split second… before they reached his door. He looked at her and said “If you say you’ve changed your mind, I won’t mind. But if you haven’t…” and the door slid open.

Gravel

Changed her mind? Was he serious? The tone of his voice told her he was. There was no doubt she was attracted to him, but more she really liked him. She was going to be very miserable if this was all there was. Ah but she knew that wasn’t all because if it was just chemistry, Cara wouldn’t be here, walking through his door. She glanced up at him over her shoulder, “I didna change my mind,” and she stepped through the door, glancing around, not that anything would have changed since the night before.

Cara

He stepped in behind her, and the door slid closed. As the clothes began to fall away, soft laughter followed by sharp breaths and low moans filled the room; while passion, lust… and something far stronger and far, far deeper then either of those… filled the shrinking space between the two of them.

It was very early. Mardusk lay in the middle of the oversized bed, his eyes closed and his breathing even for the first time in hours. Red hair lay splayed across his upper chest and shoulders; while the fair-skinned form of Cara lay on top of him, one hand on her back slowly tracing lines from her shoulder blades to her buttocks… up and down.

Gravel

Gentle tremors chased after the movement of his hand on her back. Cara’s breathing might have slowed but her heart was still trying to beat right out of her chest…or was that his heart beating? She couldn’t tell the difference at the moment. Resting on top of him, she could hear and almost feel his heart beating under her cheek or was it just the feel of her own pounding. She was too exhausted to care which it was. One hand was slowly tracing small patterns along his shoulder and upper arm. She released a long soft breath, her head moving slightly to look at him, and her eyes flashed, and by now Gravel should know to be warned by that look. “Oh hell did we just do that?…I think we need ta do it again ta make sure I’m not dreamin’.” She grinned, kissed his neck several times, and then lay back down, eyes closed, too exhausted to move more than that.

Cara

A low rumble sounded in Gravel’s chest and he grinned. “You remember that thing I said about you? That you are the queen of leading statements? Yeah… sometimes you get what you ask for.” His hands began to move and soon he was doing what he could to make sure she was certain.
