D’vash followed the captain’s lead and stood as well. “If you’re looking for volunteers to stay behind, Captain, I’m sure my skills can be of some use here.”

Odinson (CIO)
Lieut Styxx (Marine OIC)

Mardusk selected ten names and then said “I need to go make the necessary preparations.” He looked at Alfo and said “I’ll send word when we are ready to receive your contingent. Shouldn’t be more than fifteen minutes or so. If you’ll have them assemble in the docking bay by our shuttle, we can beam them directly aboard… give them a taste of the process.” and he smiled slightly. He looked at Kelly and said “Captain, I’‘l go and get the necessary permissions set.” He walked out the door and once in the passageway and away from being seen tapped his communicator and said =/\= Mardusk to Atlantis. One to beam over. =/\= and he disappeared in a swirl of blue lights.

Mardusk, CoS

OOC: I won’t make a big deal out of it, because it doesn’t make a difference, but you’re communication devices have not and do not work due to jamming.
GM

“You’ll only need 9 others, Lt. Mardusk, that is, if the captain allows me to stay behind,” Odinson added.

Odinson (CIO)

Kelly nodded at Odinson happy he volunteered. The man had a way that made him appear to blend in when needed. This was an asset because Odinson’s background in intelligence meant he could gleen info from things others didn’t bat an eye at.

Kelly Bordeaux

To do the repairs efficiently there has to be at least a half a dozen engineers, perhaps more.

GM

OCC: We can assume that Kelly left as many people as needed if that is okay with you. ~ Kate

Barring any specific interference from your crew the repairs will be done , for the most part in 6 days… The rest of the supplies would be put in the cargo bays for eventual repairs by the Atlantis crew. The pirates presume, and the equally, feel that both sides would be best served by the Atlantis leaving their base as soon as possible.

GM

As people began to move about doing their jobs, D’vash did his best to surreptitiously blend on with the crowd of Starfleet personnel aboard the pirate ship. And as he moved with the crowd, he was ever observant: watching, listening, smelling, sensing. . . . His intent was to find somewhere private he could sneak off to where he could tap into the ship’s computer and communication systems. . . .

Odinson (CIO)

Crewmembers were heavily outnumbered on the pirate ship. There were no times there wasn’t a half a dozen people watching the crew in engineering where 90% of the modifications were occurring. The only real chance was to pretend to be fixing or reviewing a repair and then trying to hook out a tricorder/computer into the engineering system and hope that one wasn’t seen, and that the electronic incursion was also not noticed by firewalls. But again you are welcome to try (before you try please inform me of background that would make you better or worse at this sort of electronic espionage.)

GM

OOC: Luke I sent you an email regarding the above.

IC: The CIO finally made his way to engineering hoping to gain the assistance of Drayke and Styxx. Approaching the two, he glanced around making sure no unwanted ears were listening. Speaking in hushed tones, he said, “Commander, Lt., I’m here to (ahem) assist you. Can you set me up underneath one of these consoles or a jefferies tube so that I can break into the ship’s computer and communications? You do that, and I’ll do the rest. Just keep the pirates off my back while I’m in there.”

Odinson (CIO)

The section wasn’t patrolled as much as it was observed. There were several pirates working in conjunction with the Star-Fleet teams and several just standing around watching. The one thing that was carefully regulated what part went were and why.

GM

Jacen arched an eyebrow as he looked over at Odinson. This was peculiar if it was any other task, now though this felt like it might as well be par for the course. “Sure, if you get caught though I never saw you.” Jacen said as he nodded for over at Styxx to help him remove a panel near a junction they had just finished. “Careful on the wiring inside, this isn’t FOSHA friendly, a lot of loose wires and open ports.”

Drayke, CE

“Don’t electrocute yourself,” Kelly said to Odinson. “FOSHA paperwork is a pain in the ass.”

River lifted the panel and looked at the mess that was the wiring “Jeez I’ve seen wrecks in better Knick then this.” she said as she took in the sheet amount of wrong that was the panel. She wasn’t an engineer but it wasn’t hard to see how easily the system could go. That gave her an idea to file away for later if violence did break out.

D’Vash nodded and grabbed a hyperspanner and the pirate equivalent of a tri-corder. Once inside the jefferies tube, he began scanning for conduits linked to the ship’s computer system. Extensive intel training had given him the skills to hack into many different systems without leaving a trace of his activity. He wanted to gather as much intel from their database as he could while at the same time tap into their comms system to monitor communications. . . .

Odinson (CIO)

Lieut Styxx (Marie OIC)

OOC: Love the creative additions… but actually the reverse is true. The wiring and how things were put together were precise and very professional.

D’Vash was able to find an electronics hub that connected a computer to the regulators. Perhaps this would be an effective point to connect to the main system.

An pirate officer walked by looking down at the threesome… “What are you doing?” the question was fairly common every-time they worked in a new section.

GM

D’Vash continued to work while replying. “Just checking connections here and running some tests. We need to make sure your systems are compatible with the upgrades we’re making,” he bluffed. “We don’t want to give you this tech and then have it blow everything out because your systems can’t tolerate the increases.”

Funny, he thought, that was one of his original suggestions. . . .

Odinson (CIO)

The soldier looked down and craned his neck around for a moment trying to see what was going on. He stared for a moment knowingly, then looked at D’Vash. After a moment he pulled out a scanning device, waved it about. It beeped a few times in an innocuous manner before he put it back. “I can get a engineer over here to help.” He waited for a response.

GM

Misdirection is often an intel operative’s best friend. He continued to download information to the tricorder near his head as his hands stayed busy manipulating tools.

“No thanks, I don’t think that’ll be necessary, but, while you’re standing there, can you hand me that left-habded spanner by your feet?”

Odinson (CIO)

The pirate looked down. He didn’t really know what a left handed spanner might be, but there were only a few tools that could be handed and was at his feet. He accurately picked up the item.. perhaps by sheer luck, and reached forward with it. It killed two birds with one stone. He could help the Federation “engineer” and get a closer look at what the Federation man was doing.

He stared at the device that D’Vash had attached. “How long is that going to be attached to the electronics line?” The security officer didn’t know much about engineering but he did know a little about computer access. The question seemed a little sharper now as his suspicion started to rise.

GM

D’Vash took the tool, looked at it for a moment, then looked at guard and chuckled a bit. In a non-condescending way, he asked, “Don’t you guys have a sense of humor? That’s a joke– a spanner is a spanner. It’s neither left nor right handed. . . . “

The guard looked at the device for a moment, “I don’t know your nomenclature for your devices.” He clearly didn’t see the humor of comment. “I don’t even know what a spanner is?”

He looked back up at his connection and progress of his download which was hidden from the guard. Hurry up, he thought.

“Shouldn’t be too much longer. Like I said, it’s just a diagnostic to make sure our systems are compatible, though might have to do a doubcheck after this one is done, just to be on the safe side. I mean, you don’t want our people to pack up and leave and then ‘boom’” He raised his eyebrows and extended his fingers on both hands.

“Okay, it won’t be THAT bad, but, it could mess up some of your systems and cause all sorts of problems if things don’t match up. Shields, engines, weapons. . . .and life support could leave you folks without a pot to piss in.”

He looked up again. Almost done.

Odinson (CIO)

OOC: You were on a data fishing expedition, you can unplug as soon as you’d like. But the longer the better in terms of information gained.

GM

While he waited, the CIO decided to try some fishing on his own. He spoke to the guard in the corridor as if just making small talk. “Is everybody on this ship former military? I can tell most of you are just by the way you carry yourselves and handle your weapons?”

Odinson (CIO)

The Pirate looked down at his hand that rested on his weapon… not with hostility but in a comfortable manner. He frowned and removed his hand from his weapon slinging it off his shoulder, in a practiced action. “I can’t really say.” He didn’t explain why he couldn’t say. He paused for a moment.

“You have a mix of crew types. You all seem to be some sort of military, but you have combat shock troops and then he nodded towards some of the engineering types, far less combat oriented people.”

GM

Jen called to the base. =^= Pirate Base. Our scans are picking up a ship that might be of interest to you. We are sending you an image. Now, allow comms to our Captain. =^=
- Jen, XO

While that message did not come to the engineering section, what did occur was a claxon that could not be mistaken for anything aside from a Red Alert signal… The guard stepped away from the Federation personnel and reached for his weapon until he heard the follow up. =^=Battle Stations, escort the Atlanteans off the ship… The Darkness has been sighted.=^=

The away team didn’t know what the Darkness might be, but no one seemed be be happy that they were seen.

“GET Up, move… you must leave.”

GM

D’Vash cursed an Orion oath under his breath. “Battlestations? What’s going on?,” he asked while disconnecting from the system.

“Whoa whoa whoa,” Kelly said to the man next to her. “What’s going on? Where’s the CO,” she asked concerned. “Why are we going to battle stations,” she asked as she simulatenously tapped her comm badge.

=/\=Jen this is Kelly what’s happening =/\= she asked. Whatever was going on could not have gotten by the Atlantis however it was strange that Jen had not reached out to her.

Kelly Bordeaux. CO

“I don’t know for certain, but if he is not on the Bridge, but he will be soon enough.” Despite the fact the pirate had his weapon out and in his hands he did not use it to usher the Star-Fleet officers. Instead his picked up and gestured towards the doors.

OCC: Hey Luke I am back. Sorry about the month hiatus. It has been tough. If I am not where I am supposed to be let me know and I will repost.

~ Kate

OOC: Well its been a while in game time.. it’s unlikely you are still on the pirate ship unless you are staying intentionally as a ‘guest’. So you can put yourself on the bridge. The fact is there are so many crew on both ships at this point the pirates have pretty much given up on their guest rule as many dozen more people are on their ship at any given time.

Luke

Sliding the data chip into a pocket before climbing out of the tube, D’Vash exited and nodded an acknowledgment to Kelly. He got what he was after. The question was whether how much of it would be useful. He wouldn’t know until they got back to the Atlantis and he had a chance to analyze everything.

He looked at the guard and nodded to the man. “Captain, perhaps it would be prudent to talk with Cmdr. Jen as we make our way to the shuttle bay.”

Odinson (CIO)

The ship started making sounds as if she were powering up… Perhaps just to ready the hull polarlization and weapons systems, but it really sounded like they were going to road test the warp drive modifications right away.

GM

D’Vash began to pick up the pace making sure Kelly stayed by his side. Before long, they had made their way back to the shuttle bay and headed toward one of the already warming up shuttles. . .

Odinson (CIO)

River stayed behind the group making sure everyone got onboard the shuttle and that no one tried anything as they left. As soon as she heard the alarm she had been in battle mode ready for a fight and she wondered if she would actually see one

There was no difficulty in getting the shuttle off and back to the Atlantis. They could see lines of people running to the Carrier there seemed to be a mass evacuation going on.

Gm

D’Vash slid into the pilot’s seat of the shuttle and with all due haste made his way off the carrier’s shuttle deck with a course plotted back to the Atlantis.

As the shuttle took off River saw the people running “Something’s scared the locals, lets hope what ever it is doesn’t want a piece of us” she said simply

Lieut Styxx (Marine OIC)

Looking at D’Vash, Kelly chewed her lip. “Did you get your tech in place,” she asked him. She was more than a little fuzzy on what D’Vash did but she trusted the man and knew whatever it was was only going to benefit them in the long run.

Kelly Bordeaux

OOC: D’vash pulled about a 1000 tera bites of information. The bulk of which was programming language but there were significant personal and other non-secure information. However there was bits and pieces that could be useful that D’Vash would need to analyze. Other efforts to ‘bug’ the comms systems were passably successful. The data would go into a file that could be remotely accessed as long as the Atlantis was in communication range and sent a carrier beam to the ship.

“Yes, Captain, I did,” the CIO replied. “I was able to get quite a bit of information that will give a better understanding f the pirates. Quite a bit is easily accessible. Other information I will have to analyze before it can be of any use to use. I was also able to tap into their comms systems. I should be able to access any comms they send or receive as long as we stay within communication range

Jen came in on the comms =^= Atlantis to Captain. I know you are enjoying your flight back with all the scenery, but we have an unknown bogie in the region that the Orb calls ‘The Darkness’ and which Shade indicated they - as in themselves - were ‘cursed’ from having them in the area and that has, as you have likely seen, gotten them stressed. The Darkness appear to engage in random acts of chaos and destruction. It is a bio ship with some stealth ability and, according to the Orb utilizes anti-proton weaponry as well as fighter craft that may also make kamikaze runs. When we see them they appear to be on a path that is like a grid search. And welcome back. We are on yellow alert and attempting to track this ‘Darkness’. =^=
Jen, XO

GM

=/\=Understood,=/\= Kelly said to the XO. Things were all over the place right now and while Kelly didn’t have all the details, she knew her XO did. The Andorian was brilliant, effective, and almost born for the role of leadership. When she moved to the bridge she would find out more but a CO had to trust their XO with blind faith. If you doubted command teams didn’t work. =/\=Will be on the bridge shortly. Bordeaux out.=/\=

He increased the speed of the shuttle in an effort to get back to Atlantis before they needed to go to red alert. Keeping his eyes on the ship, he said to Kelly, “You might want spit out that little blur pill I gave you earlier. You don’t want the capsule to start dissolving, it might leave you with a hangover lasting more than 4 hours.”

Odinson (CIO)

Kelly looked at Odinson and then Bordeaux with an expression the two men could easily read knowing her as well as they did. “She swallowed it,” Ian closed his eyes and felt a heavy sigh leave his body.

“No I just....drank a lot of coffee. I didn’t know about the dissolve thing. Odinson said no swallowing,” Kelly pointed a finger at her CIO and tried to not laugh. Looking at Odinson Kelly raised an eyebrow. “What kind of hangover are we talking about. Like epic grad night or run of the mill shore leave.” It wasn’t that she was mad or worried. Just planning on how to handle it as the shuttle approached the Atlantis.

Kelly

OCC: I am 100% willing to run with your hangover idea Terry. I think it is rather fun. Most of the time the CO is dodging phasers in a fight not waves of nausea. If you hint in a post what should be happening or say it I will follow your lead. ~ Kate
