Celia walked past Jessa’s door and stopped seeing the contents of the room had changed. It no longer was stark and barren. There was a small table. On it was a scattering of items. Tapping her finger on the PaDD she was holding, it was clear Dr. Decker was not pleased with something. Moving across the room she walked to the nurse’s station with a scowl on her face. “Who was in that room,” she pointed to Jessa’s room speaking in a sharp tone.

Yvonne looked up from her paperwork and then looked around her. “Girl, you ain’t taking that tone with me?” For as happy and friendly as Yvonne could be, she was someone one did not tango with on purpose and expect to win. “I know I am the only one here but you had best step back and check yourself.”

“I am speaking to you nurse Washington and I am expecting an answer and not some flippant reply or you just might find yourself written up on insubordination charges. Now I will repeat myself one more time. Who…was…in…that…room.”

Yvonne stood up and met Dr. Decker’s gaze head-on. “Evrilla you had better get out here and deal with the woman before I knock her on her ass,” she called out crossing her arms. Turning her attention back to Celia, Yvonne continued. “Who do you think you are? Comin’ up all in my business about some damn room.” The nurse has no loyalty to the new doctor that had just transferred to the ship a little over a month ago.

Yvonne Washington

Evrilla sighed, but strode over regardless. “Yes Yvonne? What- oh. Celia.” The main source of conflict in sickbay seemed to be Celia and just about anyone she talked to. “How can I help you?”
-Evrilla, CMO (and customer service)

“You can start by booting her ass straight on up outta here,” Yvonne grabbed her PaDD and left the nurses station still talking although it was not quite under her breath but still audible. “Who the hell does she think she is comin’ all up in my face. She gonna learn right quick,” her voice became less loud the farther she moved away from Evrilla and Celia.

“Honestly maybe tell me why you keep her around,” Celia leaned against the desk looking at her boss. “I know I have only been here a month but Yvonne tends to act like she owns this place and she is just a nurse.” The tone was slightly condescending and fully opinionated.

Dr. Celia Decker

Evrilla raised an eyebrow incredulously. “Yvonne has been a nurse on this ship for longer than I’ve been a doctor here. She is hardly the only strong personality.” If this was Andoria, she had a strong feeling she’d be proctoring duels to the death in the middle of sickbay. “Did you have a non-interpersonal issue?”
-Evrilla, CMO

Evrilla’s immediate defense of Yvonne signaled trouble. “I don’t have a personal issue with the woman. I just expect her to do her job and not have to ask her a question three times before I get an answer.” Celia glanced around the room and looked at Jessa’s door. She didn’t need to draw attention to her need to eliminate Yvonne, just remove her from the situation. The woman noticed everything like a hawk circling the field for a meal.

Letting her mind take in the all the facts, Celia came up with a new plan. “I simply asked her who was in Jessa’s room and why does it look like a bedroom instead of a sickbay area,” Celia looked back at Evrilla with a frown. The fact the bear was gone she gave her earlier that day was problematic. If was hard enough to have snuck it in and now it had disappeared into thin air. Once she started supplying Jessa with items, Celia needed to be sure they would not be discovered. The bear was clean but it was a test run in what was allowed or not allowed in the space.

“Jessa needs to be dismissed from here and put into one of the guest quarters,” she stated firmly to Evrilla. It was time to start planting and butting this idea in the CMO’s head

Celia Decker

Evrilla straightened up to her full height, drawing on her college years to put authority on like a cloak. “Are you implying, Celia, that Captain Bordeaux, Commander Mardusk, and I have errored in our placement of my patient?” Celia was always calculating, just a little bit off, but this was different. Evrilla allowed herself just a bit more telepathic leeway, enough to hear any focused thoughts. “I certainly hope you aren’t trying to say a 12 year old should be left with no supervision.”
-Evrilla, CMO

Celia had read the dossier on the CMO. Evrilla was so squeaky clean Celia was sure the woman burped bubbles which made operations like this so difficult. A malpractice suit, dead patient, sordid past, hell even selling pharmaceuticals to the wealthy, which everyone did…except for this doctor, gave Decker leverage. Leverage made everything easier only Celia was empty-handed on what to use.

Celia let her mind fill with anger, frustration, suspicion, and hurt. The woman was a telepath. She would read all this so the only play Celia had was to play up all the emotions to such fervor, the act would come off real. “Maybe I am,” she crossed her arms. “First off that kid is just a kid but we are going between her being a child to being an intergalactic national. We file charges of attempted murder and terrorism against her but then send her to Rinker because we are worried about her psychological state. We tell her we are friends but have armed men outside her door. So yeah maybe we should pick one,” Celia was immediately defensive. “And what if she is really who she says,” Celia lowered her voice. “If she is some kind of diplomat then yeah maybe we should put her up in a diplomatic suite. Her being in guest quarters would be no different that sitting in that room. Its not like there is a back door or window she can sneak out.”
