Madison had transferred back to the Atlantis after a brief stint as the Chief Science Officer aboard the Asimov. She felt burned out being a department head and her research suffered from it. Being that she was a Medical Doctor with a specialty in the field molecular genetics, she naturally wanted to research, study, and cure the incurable diseases. That was her true passion, not babysitting adults in a command role. Her older brother Richard was a leader in Starfleet having served as an XO aboard the Constellation and now as the Chief Tactical Officer aboard the Saracen. Just like in many cases of brothers and sisters, she was a polar opposite younger sibling. Madison had her own agenda, but when provided with assignments from her supervisors, she always responded with a sense of urgency.

She was positioned sitting up on top of the comforter on her bed with her legs extended comfortably barefoot in a tank top and yoga pants. Her blonde hair was tied back in a messy bun and her ocean blue eyes in a saccade glued to her PADD. She was responding to a text message from her brother, her index finger swiped along the swift style keyboard and generated the following message: ‘She is going to think you are a TOTAL STALKER!’. A small grin came across her face, she loved picking on her older brother. Madison closed out the text message and opened up a peer reviewed study on Iverson’s Disease. After she was about halfway through the journal article, her alarm reminder went off. Her appointment with Cara Esmé O’Farrell, the ship’s counselor was in 90 minutes. She sighed at the thought of going to a counselor, but she knew that she would benefit from having someone to talk too on a regular basis. It took a special person to be a counselor and Madison’s hope was that Cara would be helpful as she strived to improve her own mental health. At this point, she set her PADD down and proceeded to shower and get ready for the appointment coming up later that morning.

Madison left her quarters in full uniform and was all freshened up for the occasion. She always kept up with her appearance as her mother had taught her to always be conscientious of her style and appearance. She took the turbolift from her quarters on Deck 16 to the Counseling Suites on Deck 11. She definitely appreciated the fact that Captain Bordeaux had allowed her to return home to the Atlantis, but also with the opportunity for her to stay in the Saucer section area because she was so close to all of the places that she had to go to for work every day. It was quite a convenient situation for her without a doubt. Madison would follow Captain Bordeaux anywhere but had hoped that she was not disappointed that Madison stepped away from being a Department Head. She had an appointment with the Captain later that week and felt a little bit of anxiety because she did not know what to expect. Upon arriving at the Counseling Suites she raised her hand and pressed the chime to alert Cara.

A woman with curly bright red hair, green eyes, and classic pale skin marked her as having strong Irish Terran heritage. A very strong Irish accent flowed from her, “Lt Cmdr Marsh. It’s nice te meet ye. I’m Lt O’Farrell. Come on in. Help yerself ta the replicator and ‘ave a seat.”

Madison acknowledged the counselor with a casual wave accompanied by her distinctive Australian accent, “Hiya.” A warm smile was now evident on her face as she greeted O’Farrell in a friendly manner.

Immediately to the left of the door was a desk. A variety of places to sit and low tables dotted the rest of the open area. The right wall was taken up with a wall to wall, floor to ceiling storage until. Books, various pieces of art, and nick knacks covered the shelves. “Help yerself te the replicator and have a seat.” O’Farrell grabbed a glass of tea off her desk and had a seat in one of the chairs.

Madison’s sky blue eyes scanned the room for a moment taking in the scenery of Cara’s office. She definitely had an appreciation for the pieces of artwork and the decor of the room. She wished that she had someone like Cara to help her decorate her new quarters. However, she would have to get to know the folks on the Atlantis first and then bring in someone to assist with that. With Madison’s demanding schedule, she strongly believes that she does not have time to have the luxury of decorating. However, perhaps Kelly would help her, a solid maybe, Madison will figure it out later. Her life was committed to research first and fun if there was time left over in the day. That caused her to feel lonely and isolated at times, but at the same time, she was successful thus far in the field of molecular genetic research in return. There always seemed to be a cost for everything.

She shifted her feet in the direction of the replicator and walked to it. Madison already knew what she wanted to drink prior to her arrival, “Caramel latte, warm.” Within a couple seconds, a fresh caramel latte was generated. She extended her hand and picked up the cup. The warmness on her cold hands was soothing as she made her way towards her assigned chair. It was time to talk about herself, thoughts, and life to a total stranger. At least there would be confidentiality at the end of the day. She sat down crossed her legs, and set her hands on her lap as she made an effort to be relaxed and comfortable for their counseling session as she looked at Cara, “Thank you for the hospitality Lieutenant.”
