After his shift in the science labs was over, Tyler anxiously made his way to the ready room, to meet with the Captain as asked. He had been pondering things all day long, and he was fairly certain he had made up his mind as to what his answer was going to be.Inhaling and exhaling slowly, he rang the chime.

“Come,” Kelly said signing off on another document. She swore Ian had some secret agenda to give her carpal tunnel syndrome to stop her from being able to lift a coffee mug to her lips. Until she had taken command of the Atlantis, Kelly hadn’t signed this many documents in her life. Either Ian was that efficient or she was literally signing things she should not and might regret later. It would not be the first time a crew had slipped something into a pile of documents for the skipper to sign and ended up with a new phaser cannon, pool table, hot tub. The list was only limited by the crew’s creativity and the CO’s humor level.

Tyler walked in. “You asked me to come see you?” He said curiously.
-Tyler Michael Wells
“Yes,” Kelly said gesturing to a seat across from her. “I was reviewing your career record. You have done well. I also had a proposal for you. As you know Lt Navi Beedems was transferee from the ship a few weeks back. Starfleet wanted to send me a replacement for the chief of sciences. I prefer to promote from within. So,” she paused for a second to let the information sink in, “are you interested?”

Tyler sighed. Even though he knew it was coming, hearing it out loud was still somewhat of a strange feeling to him.
“Yes, I’m interested,” he said confidently. He paused. Should he voice his concerns to her? She was the Captain after all.
“But you aren’t worried about how the rest of the crew will feel about it? Due to my most recent… accusations and all?” He subconsciously chewed on his lower lip nervously.

“I am not concerned about how the crew feels. You are more than qualified for the position and they were exactly that. Accusations. If there was evidence to make it more than an accusation it would become a conviction and subsequent possible court marshal but you were cleared. Do you know how many times people threatened to bring a Captain up on charges because someone somewhere didn’t like a call? Not exactly the same but the principle holds true. Now if you don’t think you will be able to handle the job that is a different conversation,” Kelly asked leaning back in her seat.
