“Nope I think it is us unless you think we need like a security detail,” she looked at Kai and then Chris.

“Why you looking at me? I am here cause you said we needed to get out more… though I think you really just wanted to to a movie and not a weekend working but here I am…” Chris said with a bit of snark as he walked into the shuttle.

Moving into the shuttle she took a seat in the back so the CSO could pilot it. That left the co-pilot seat open for whoever wanted it.

Lexi

“Security detail? Pff.” He snorted “I have a phaser Mk. III borrowed by security and a couple of phaser guns in the back. Chris will take the Mk. III because he is… better I guess?”

“I usually work better with hammers and tools but I guess I can use it. Though… what are we going to find to need a Mk 3? Doesn’t that feel overkill… we fight Borg and Dominion with that” asked Chris as he wondered just what they were getting roped into.

Kai wasn’t worried at all about meeting some life form on the planet. His only doubt was his dog and the fact that the shuttle would have been dirty when they were to be returning. Yeah only that, He guessed.

“Science stuff? Check.” He tipped the box on the PaDD for the checklist “Dog? Check too. Fly parameters? All nominal. Fuel, present. Core Drive. Functioning. Co-pilot? Chris would you like to be my co-pilot?” He asked to Lexi’s husband kindly “I will need a buddy to fly this majestic ship. And to eat these snacks” he showed a sack with a bunch of candies, chips and salsa. Not replicated, only genuine snacks from importation.

“Sure, I would love to” Chris said with a large smile. Truth was while he wasn’t security he did love piloting. It was a skill he took up and always loved to get behind any cockpit that people would let him at.

“Alright, everyone’s ready?” He asked looking at the clock and taking a seat at the helm “I don’t guarantee a beautiful view down there” he smirked pressing some buttons “But I guarantee, Ladies, gentleman and dogs, that I know how to fly this ship. Maybe.”
A voice came through the commbadge asking for the clearance of the shuttle bay for departure. While Kai waited for a reply to depart, Rylee came in the cockpit, licking everyone’s hand to greet the new people she met that day “good girl!” Yeah, cuddles were her favorite.

Robins, Stellar Cartography

“We are ready for departure, Tower.” Kai nodded few times as the voice spoke then again he said: “Aight, Shuttle Bay cleared, we are exiting.”
The shuttle indeed lifted and gently went through the force field and the hangar door. It took a minimal acceleration but in a few seconds (3.5 to be exact), the ship was already far 300 meters, then 400, then 1000.

“So, First Officer Chris. Take the helm.” He smiled. “Bearing is 149 mark 23, the inclination of 20° for atmosphere entry. It should be an easy task as there seem to be no electric field or paranormal bubbles of some kind.” He joked “and anyway, this trip will take a bit, 30 minutes or less so we will have time to talk and stuff.”
Rylee started to be anxious. Her tail started to wiggle and her barks were a few loud bangs. It was her first journey and still, Kai thought that perhaps it would have not been that bad. He was wrong.

“10 4…” Chris said as input the coordinates as they began to take out in the direction he has asked.

“Chill Rylee, chill!” He pet his darling “Lexi make me a favor, help me to calm Rylee. Maybe your feminine touch will help her.”

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

“Come here my baby girl,” Lexi made her way towards the cockpit and dropped to her knees. “Yes yes, hers is gonna go play an’ get off that ol’ floating tin can, yes hers is.”
Lexi cooed in very ungrammatical motherese to the dog while scratching her ears and kissing the side of her head. “I have thought about getting Ruth a dog for her birthday. Maybe we can do playdates,” she laughed looking at Kai. “This is the first time in forever I haven’t had a dog. The last one I had was Baxter. He was a Beagle mutt I got to pass the time before I had Ruth. He was a great dog just like you,” she spoke between looking at Kai and Rylee. “Have you always had Golden’s,” she asked?

Lexi

“To be honest, I had before just a Pug as I was a little Kai and had no interest in space. I loved that pug, Mr. Frenchy I called him because he seemed to love french fries.” He laughed “anyway yeah, maybe Rylee wants to have some kids, right Rylee? Maybe one day.” And Kai hoped to have kids too one day. Cute little kiddos that would have joyed Kai’s life with his loved one and wife. “Have you ever had a dog, Chris? Also, are you planning to have some little, you guys?” He was curious about after-marriage life

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

“I used to have a lot of dogs before we went into Starfleet. Ian and I though did have for a few years what we thought was a dog in the Academy, least it looked like a dog. Lexi found it and gave it to a gift to us, turned out it was a type of Rigelan Wolf Bear, they get up to five feet tall, ten feet paw to paw, about eight hundred pounds. After that, we stopped letting Lexi bring home strays.” Chris said with a smirk, Lexi always did have a habit of leaping without looking. He recalled that animals came from a friend of hers named Kalani, some biology science geek like her who specialized in animals.

“Ahaha I imagine.” He poked Lexi arm gently “I don’t think a 5 feet tall pet would be practical to get out.” He laughed.

“It wasn’t,” she gave Chris a sour expression that only a husband would know meant she wasn’t actually mad. “See he and Ian kept the thing for a long time. So long that it rolled into the semester room inspection. It was only then he and his buddy realized Houston we have a problem. So who do they call,” she gestured to Chris.

“Me,” repeated her husband, “but not to actually help them but to borrow some clothes. They dressed the damn thing up like a girl and walked it out of the dorms like one of those Russian circus bears. Totally stretched out my sweatpants,” she rolled her eyes and winked at Chris. While they had spent the majority of their time apart, the four years together at the academy was the basis of why they fell in love with each other.

“Ugh, love relationships. So interesting and so complex.” Grunted Kai with a smile on his face

“As for little ones, well seems we already jumped that gun. We have an eight-month-old daughter, I am fairly certain she would indeed love this dog… but right now all she as is some Andorian bunnies I bought her, big fluffy goofballs with blue fur, she loves them… we did tell EMMA to feed those as well didn’t we?” Chris said suddenly as he looked over at Lexi wondering if she would figure it out or if their house plants would be devoured by hungry bunnies.

Christopher Robins

“Hey Chris, maybe we’ll find some cute animal out there on Cheese Ball.” The Ensign jokes “anyway,” he paused “what do you expect to find down there? I hope there will be someone to get us some fresh fruit or something. In the worst case a giant reptile, human eater made of some sort of impenetrable shell.”

“Oh, that would be great… so great,” Chris said with a sardonic smirk as he looked over at Lexi. “I can see her collecting as much as she can… and we don’t have enough room.”

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

“Oh oh oh I vote for carnivorous plants,” Lexi called out. I mean how cool would it be to see if you could get out of a working venus fly trap. Worst case scenario is we have Ryley here dig us out,” she ruffled the fur behind the dog’s ear. The console began flashing indicating they were about to enter the lower atmosphere. “So here we go. You um remember how to land this thing right,” she looked at the two men piloting the ship.

“Yes, I know how to land, unlike you I keep up on my secondary training.” quipped Chris as he began to make the descent.

Lexi

“I surely forgot how!” He winked at Chris like to say: show how to land this can or we ain’t surviving at all. “But maybe Chris knows how.” He giggled secretly. Getting through the atmosphere was Kai’s favorite moment in a flight. While he was at the Academy he never wanted to learn to fly. But after some pressure by teachers and professors, he was able to join flight school later and discovered his love for intra-ship journeys. Actually his landing abilities were extraordinarily fantastic.

But then on the screen something lit up and the readings weren’t too good “oh crisp.” The Ensign looked better at the display
“Oh Crisp Oh Crisp! Bearing 312 mark 23 Ahead of us we have a big, big energy beam traveling tow-”
And a big bam hit the Coriolis making bump everyone onboard. Displays blew up, the main control, hard to get on. But most importantly the engines were shut down.
“We’ve been hit!” He screamed after getting up from his display explosion “argh. We have plasma coolant breach and our engines shut.”

Lexi instinctively grabbed Ryley and held her close to her body. The dog wasn’t strapped in but neither was Lexi. At least she was in a seat and the imact had only knocked her back hard against the head rest. Holding Ryley tightly so the dog would not get thrown across the cabin Lexi felt her vision blurring. She did not call out or fight it. There was nothing she could do know except let the pilot team do what they needed to. Taking a deep breath she blinked twice hoping to clear her vision but it only let her on the third blink drift into darkness.

Kai was now worried. He looked everyone inside the tin can and maybe for the first time, thought about his death. How his coffin with a Kai eating a banana photo would be put underground.
“We need to perform-” he was out of breath “emergency landing.” he pointed an apparently green plain that from the skies didn’t appeared that green “there!” And then he fainted.

OOC: better get some O2 mask Chris! We ain’t having oxygen onboard as we are too high. Kai didn’t noticed it and just fainted :0

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

Chris began tapping the controls as they began to descend, pulling the mask over his head quickly as he kept going down as he looked back at the pair. He didn’t have much time, they weren’t going to make it in one piece down but he could try to keep as many pieces intact.

Robins, Stellar Cartography

So for how much Kai could remember, darkness was all over the place and only a light was in the middle of nowhere lightning up just a little radius all over him. Figures would appear and between them, old friends that he knew before the Bday party incident interacted with the Ensign.
It was evident that he was unconscious by the time all this happened.

From the high atmosphere level through the lower one, communications were progressively covered by interferences and no emergency distress signal could have trespassed the unknown energy field that started to form all around the planet. Thought the Coriolis, as he was told later on, was descending too fast and with too much inertia to survive the impact. As Chris took control over the ship, it was 12000 meters from ground level; luckily Mr. Robins was a well trained Officer and managed to “soften” the crash and to conserve much likely almost all vital modules of the runabouts. The place they landed didn’t seemed at all a giant Orange Ball they saw from below: it was gorgeously green and life seemed to prosper onto the plains and up high the mountains.

At 1512 hours, Kai could finally wake up from his weird dream.
“Ugh- Gosh.” He mourned “Eh? This is not what I saw from readings on the Atlantis.” He looked still shocked from the window adjacent to his seat.
“Oh no. I am bleeding… ugh are you all okey?” He asked to his journey comrades while Rylee jumped over the bodies of everyone aboard.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO and Temporary thread GM

“Yeah,” Lexi said slowly. Opening and closing her mouth several times she tried to find where the blood was coming from that was filling her mouth with the slightly metallic taste. It only took a second for her to realize the blood was coming from her tongue. She must have bitten it during the crash. “Chris,” she called out pulling a med kit down from an over head as she made her way to Kai. Kneeling down next to him she opened the kit pulling out a cold pack and a bandage. Gently dabbing the bandage on the wound Lexi made a grimacing face. “Sorry. I don’t want to hurt you but I need to see how bad the injury is,” she said wiping the blood away she looked at the injury and with the other hand cracked the cold pack.

“Argh! Oi oi oi! What a mess…” Kai was in pain “Ah don’t worry, I am still alive. Hey Chris? Chris how are you?” He called for his Co-Pilot. Looking at him he seemed still unconscious and nothing red was dripping down or whatever “well, from here he seems fine. Then I don’t know how’s the other side. Ouch.” He grunted touching the fresh cut in the abdomen.

“Chris,” she called out again. Right now Kai was the first she came to and needed help. Hopefully Chris was fine and just doing what Chris did: taking stock of the situation.

Lexi

“Lex, Go and get a check of him. I will keep pressure on the injury, don’t worry!” He invited Lexi to intervene on Chris.

“He’s a big boy,” Lexi said in a calm voice looking at the wound on Kai’s stomach. “I am sure he is fine. We need to worry about you first.” Lexi opened the cold pack and placed it behind his neck. She was sure that his neck was fine it was more to soothe and calm him. The wound on his stomach had all her attention. “Too cold,” she asked Kai as she read the tricorder reading of the wound on his stomach to see how to treat it. “Chris I need to get a blanket,” Lexi called out.

“anyway, what do you think of the surrounding? It was not like this when we first gave a look uh? Maybe it will be really likely to find some person-height meat eater plant. AH! How funny it would be. Maybe.”
For a man who was in shock, Kai could keep going on being happily joyful for much time as he wanted but Of course not forever. Looking at his red hands, he had a bit of crying sensation but to look as manly as he could, he was holding the tears hoping that Lexi could give him some kind of pain killers soon.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

Kai might be going into shock and the first step was to keep him warm. Improvising she pulled off her shirt and laid it over the top of his chest. It wasn’t much but right now she needed to keep pressure on the wound as the tricorder spit back the results and she got the hypo ready. Injecting him with 50 mg of Tramadol, should take the edge off Kai as she figured out how to suture up his wound. Part of her prayed she did not have to extract something lodged in there. “How we doing handsome” she said in a soft tone looking at her boss. “Feeling any better?” Sparing a look behind her shoulder she hoped to see Chris.

Lexi Robins

OCC: You can tell me how bad but I am going to add to this post. We can edit it if I went to far. Kate

OOC: it is just bad enough to get an unexpected infection…

Moving from his chair Chris began to stir as he turned back to everyone. “Well… that went about as well as I thought it would… how are you two?” he asked as he began to move out of the chair pushing aside the rubble.

Robins, Stellar Cartography

“You planned on this,” Lexi looked at Chris a bit shocked. He was a damn good pilot so if this crash was his upside, then they were in a whole lot more trouble than she ever thought.

IC: “Well- ugh. Beside that I am bleeding and that your beautiful woman and my dog are both taking care of me, it is wonderful. No offense for both of you.” He looked Rylee and Lex together “anyway, that’s not the problem. We are cut out by communication and this does not seem the planet I saw from the stars.” He paused “also, what the heck is that thing!” He pointed out an edgy black stuff that was half covered by one of the hills nearby “we shall see if it is something built or a natural structure.”

“Easy there Captain Federation,” Lexi teased pushing Kai back slightly “Let me get this fixed up before you decide to solve the mysteries of planet Cheeseball,” she chastised her boss but with a soft tone to her voice. Running the tricorder down his cut, it was soon sutured shut. Rifling through the medical kit, she found the standard mix of hypos and gave him the standard cocktail. Hopefully it would be enough to fix what was wrong until real medical could lool at the science chief.

Then being said he tried to stand up and made way through the debris even knowing that Lexi would have not be any happier of his decision to move.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

“Hey boss,” Lexi half squealed half yelled. “I am not a doctor but I am not sure you should be galavanting around like an antelope on the savannah,” she moaned high stepping over things that had fallen into the path from the crash landing. She only stopped talking the second she looked out the cracked viewport with Kai.

“It seems the planet amuse you, better than I do.” He joked.

“Okay why is this place green,” her scientific curiosity began to take over leaving her concerns as Nurse Lexi took a back seat in her personality. Punching a few buttons on the console, the display flickers to life. “Seventy-eight percent nitrogen, twenty-one percent oxygen, nine-tenths percent argon, and point oh three percent carbon dioxide,” she said happily. “We can breath.”

“Interesting place.” Kai commented “O-okey, Chris, Lexi. Let’s get a move. We cannot communicate with the Atlantis and the Atlanteans. So we might get a look of that black structure right there, are we?”

“Do animals in phylum Chordata have notochords,” Lexi grinned at her insanely geeky science joke. It would only be understood by science officers and only funny to the biological divisions.

“I cannot figure out what’s so funny about that, yet.” Kai chuckled while removing some stick and stones around the site “you biologist are weird. Well physicist are not that different.”

Lexi broke out laughing. “No, we are just big kids because still get to play in the mud and get to run around chasing animals to see how they react. Astrophysicists are dreamers that spend most of their lives wishing on a star and physicists are fascinated with creating the big ba da boom or stop the big ba da booms,” she summed up her view on the sciences. “You are right though sir, we all are not that different in the things that make us say woah,” she imitated a surprised face that was the hallmark expression of any scientist figuring out a great mystery. “I think that is why we all get along so well.”

The pointy and solid structure made of some sort of alien material, was nonetheless far than 2/3 kilometers from their position. From what they would have learned from this journey would have been a creepy but interesting experience - indeed population were living on that planet, but a major entity would have conditioned their return to the ship, making it difficult to everyone on land.

Moving from her spot she walked back to the hatch, grabbed a science kit from the floor, and opened the door. A gust of cool spring air rushed into the now nonpressurized cabin. The air was cooler than she expected but not chilly.

Lexi Robins.

Kai stood up and helped Chris to take the route with him toward the shuttle hatch. Following his subordinate, he took on the way a tricorder and one of the phaser rifles he was sure he would have not used. Apparently they would have been essential to survive on the planet.
Exiting the spacecraft the CSO took a deep breath, still mumbling about his injury and as he looked around he said “Well. Chris, before you leave, take the remaining phasers. We don’t know what we can find. Lexi?” He called her “let’s find a good place for a shelter before departing.”
Knowing he was still the lowest in grade, it was funny to him to give order to someone higher in rank.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

Grabbing a backpack from one of the storage compartments she slid it on her back and came up behind Kai. “Sir,” she said in a happy tone, “what if we just bring a tent with us. That way we can spend more time if needed exploring than coming back to a base. Turns out Aedan Teller spared no expense on anything here,” Lexi patted the pack before sliding it onto her back.

“If we have one still intact we can do that. Otherwise, we will have to use our brute force to create a shelter.” He smiled at Lexi and checking that Chris was behind them at the same time.

“Too bad we didn’t bring Drayke with us then. Is it wrong of me that I kinda wanna see the angry Irish come out when he taunt him with a pile of sticks and say show me your mad engineering skills,” Lexi teased?

“Hey give me one of those,” Lexi gestured to Chris for one of the phasers he picked up which Kai had asked him to grab. As he placed it in her hand her nose wrinkled up. “Wait why did I get the girl gun,” Lexi looked at Chris. His phaser was definitely larger than hers. “Gimmie yours,” she motioned for her husband to pass over his weapon as she waved the smaller version at him with her other hand.

“hey you two!” called both officers “just don’t fire those things. We might “break” something” he giggled.

Turning her focus back to her boss, Lexi pulled out a tricorder. “So what do you think that black thing is,” she posed the question to the group, “maybe a fungus or slime mold?”

Lexi

“That big?” he asked curiously “Well, if it is something that lives, then wow that’s some huge being. I guess anyway it is something built.” Kai concerned about the nature of the black thingy.
All around species of luminescent fungus and plants were surrounding the environment. Tall were the threes with a blueish and mostly green color. Also some weird animals walked freely all around the group that in the forest was walking in: then a puffy and seemingly innocent animal came along them and so the CSO stopped everyone “Lexi? Come here.” he called his subordinate for some scanning. The animal seemed to be pacific and curious. What they could not predict would have been a virus that was spread everywhere and even that fluffy ball was pathogen-filled.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

“Yeah boss,” Lexi walked over to where he was standing.

Lexi Robins.
