=/\=Understood Lt. Meet us in the transporter room. Your team is appreciated. Commander Mardusk and I are on our way there now.=/\= Clicking off the comm call she entered the turbo with Mardusk. “I know it is not typical but I am going to supplement your security forces with that of the marines. I have no idea what is out there and I do not want any surprises. Can you take point and coordinate the efforts between the two teams,” she asked Mardusk.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux

Over the next fifteen minutes the comms had become quiet. As the scanning resolution increased it became clear that there was two ships, connected by multiple conduits loosely surrounded by a 24 fighter sized ships. The larger of the two was clearly some sort of cargo freighter type of ship they smaller more military vessel was shark like with a ship wide opening running the length of the ship that likely was a landing/launching bay for the fighters that were now scannable.

“Skipper, Two large ships are in front of us. A Cargo ship… and a Carrier?” He looked the scanners a bit confused “also there are 24 fighters and some are still stowed in what looks like a hangar bay.” Kai reported

“Furthermore I detect 141 life signs 42 of one race which I believe is that of the Nine… the other 99 on the freighter are mixed races… consistent with this sector of space. Orders?” Asked the CSO

About a minute later there was an abrupt hail from the carrier ship. =^=Identify yourself and maintain your distance… or there will be consequences.=^=

GM

OOC: I might ask for the delay of my replies. With the whole bunch of stuff happenings to my life, I was broken and tired, so I needed time to get on. Well, hope to return pretty active soon.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

SEAI just calmly took a seat at the Captain’s chair. “This is Lieutenant Commander SEAI of the USS Atlantis speaking to whomever wishes to threaten a ship of the United Federation of Planets. It is requested that you cease your assault unless there is a very good reason for doing so. Otherwise said consequences may end up on your end.”

SEAI (XO)

=^=The who?=^= The voice responded… =^=I don’t know you and don’t recognize your right to enforce the laws of space.=^= The ship and related fighters were using the time to form up into a battle wing facing the Atlantis.

There was a lot of movement on the freighter… what they were doing was difficult to tell.

GM

“We have Phasers and Torpedo’s ready, and we can reinforce the shields enough that the Fighters will pose very little risk. If they are trying to remove the cargo on the freighter, I recommend a warp jump right on top of them, extend our shields around them to prevent transport and lock them in place with our tractor beam to avoid any ramming attempt.” Nash began to vocalize his options from the console in front of him. “We can isolate and extract lifesigns as needed and we take the initiative in the encounter. They can launch as many fighters as they like, Light Speed particle energy weapons will make short work of them at that range.”

Nash, CTO

SEAI tapped her commbade. =/\=Engineering, do we have the capabilities for a short warp jump and the extending of our shields around the aggressive ship?=/\= It wouldn’t do to try such a thing if the ship wasn’t in good enough condition to allow it.

SEAI XO

Micro warp jumps were dubious in tactical value as it was a linear approach and ship’s sensors were FTL. While the ship was capable of such a jump in this case, the number of fighters interposed between the Atlantis and the two other ship were barriers that would do significant damage if they tried to ‘warp’ through them… it was possible to try to take a path less direct, but that would likely put them further away as opposed to closer.

gm

“Isn’t that too much drastic? We risk to lose the hull this way! And I repeat we don’t have any integrity left to leave behind.” The CSO said to SEAI “we could try to modify the photon torpedoes to emit strong torionic and plasma waves to disable fighters and sensors. A spread pattern would be sufficient needing only 5 or 6 torpedoes.” Kai suggested.

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

The fighters did not appear to be hardened to the various more common Alpha Quadrant attack modes, everything thing old is new here, also the fighters were unshielded small and were vulnerable.

GM

Ashlynn nodded “Give me a minute to get my med kit and I’ll meet you wherever we’er leaving from.” She said as she left the bridge and headed to sickbay and quickly gathered what she needed for the away mission.

CMO

SEAI tapped her fingers on the armrest of the Captain’s chair. “You have my permission to modify those torpedoes. However, given how weak these ships are, I want them to be programmed precisely. I don’t want any more accidental deaths than the statistics say we may have from this.” She turned back on the comm channel to the other ship. =/\=Attacking Ship, this is your last warning. Diplomatic solutions are available, but if they are rejected we have no choice but to answer the call for help that was sent our way with force.=/\=

SEAI (XO)

SEAI (XO)

The Atlantis was scanned while this occurred there was a pause but it was brief… =^=I still don’t know what the Federation of Planets is… =^= another pause as if the crew were weighing their options. =^=Look fine, rescue them… take your cut… whatever… I’m willing to leave or share… whatever you want to call it.. I need 2 minutest to bring my boarding parties back aboard.=^= Came the slightly more compliant carrier commander.

Speaker of the Carrier
GM

=/\=Glad you are seeing reason. =/\= SEAI put the connection on hold and turned to the science console. “I want a scan of both the attacked and enemy ships scanned for life forms. I would also appreciate it if you could find out a way of telling me if there are any hostages being taken by the parties that are leaving.”

SEAI (XO)

The Carrier and fighters were crewed by multiple races… however the freighter crew were overwhelmingly (95%) natives of the “ccNine”. There were only two individuals who were of the race of Nine that were moving from the freighter to the carrier. They were not alone, so they could be prisoners, but they were also armed… which suggested they weren’t. It was up to some interpretation.

“I stopped the modifications to the torpedoes. Starting scanning process.” Kai said touching various buttons “Mr. Nash?” He called out the CTO “mind you look about the ships status? I’ll be searching life forms aboard the assaulting ship now that I have better readings.”

Ensign Kai O. Kingstone - CSO

GM

“The boarding parties are returning to the carrier ship, but we have no way of identifying who is who,” Nash replied, “so we cannot tell for certain if they have hostages. Those returning to the carrier are armed however, so unless they are boarding the carrier in return, I would suggest they are not hostages. We will need to ask the freighter crew.”

Lt Cmdr Nash, CTO

OCC: Barring some unexpected orders…

After the two minutes, give or take a few moments the carrier as promised detached from the freighters ‘back’

=^=Okay buddy… we are just going to pick up our fighters and leave.=^+ There continued to be no effort by the ‘pirates’ to identify themselves… The fighters for their part executed a fairly smart return to base. The perimeter they formed collapsed from the inside out, the pairs in the middle returning to the carrier first.

If the Atlantis attempted a hostile move forward it would put itself inside the pincers of the remaining fighter… probably not something they were too concerned about, but it demonstrated some tactical skills.

GM

SEAI drummed her fingers on the arm of the chair. “Well the Captain is on her way now to figure out what is going on. Just in case however, I wanted us to be locked on to the engines of the hostile ship. If things go south quickly I want to be able to respond quickly.”

SEAI (XO)

Time continued to progress and finally the last group of fighters landed… without as much a ‘how do you do’ the large ship turned and shot off at an quadrant impressive warp 6.5. When the ship reached a little more than a light year a dispersion burst occurred. It masked the warp trail somewhat, but it wasn’t quite enough to cause the Atlantis’ sensors to lose the ship. I probably would cause issues for the ships of this sector.

GM

“What is happening Commander,” Kelly said as she strode back on to the bridge. “We were about to transfer over to the freighter and got word the other ship was not in the area? ”

Kelly Bordeaux CO

SEAI looked over. “It appears that I have engaged in what is known as ‘aggressive negotiation’. The other ship was convinced to leave their target alone and I was about to ask for a full scan of the damaged ship.”

SEAI (XO)

The damage was isolated to shields and propulsion.. not that there was too much else tactical on the ship. The weapons for the most part weren’t even targeted as they were minor and were barely capable of engaging the fighter as they were more a ship to ship weapon and couldn’t track a small object like a fighter effectively. Which was ironic because it wasn’t powerful enough to damage a full sized star-ship. The Atlantis probably could take a hit with the shields down without too much problem.

GM

Kelly took the command seat letting out a deep breath. “Mr. Drayke how badly is that freighter damaged and do we have the capabilities to track it’s warp trail?” This was her first thought but there was also the concern of what to do when they caught up to it.

Jacen began bringing up the ship sensors as he looked over the data he was having poured in from his Engineering station. “I think so, we still have some repairs finishing, but I think we can match their speed but… it’s going to take a bit. They used a scrambler to mask their trajectory. I am going to need to narrow it down which will take a bit… but we should be able to get after them soon, especially seeing as it appears their max warp is 6.5. Even with the damage…” Jacen paused as he began swiping to bring up more data regarding the repairs to the ship. “I think we can do warp 7.5 to catch up.” Jacen finished.

“Nr. Nash are we able to take on that ship that was attacking it without the Atlantis sustained further damage?” Depending on the answers she was given would determine her next course of action. The answers she wanted was yes skipper we can track them and yes skipper we can blow them out of the sky without sustaining more damage to the Atlantis.

Captain Kelly Bordeaux CO

Drayke, CE

Even damaged, the Atlantis was the most advanced, combat capable ship they encountered in this sector, with the exception of the Lorn and the Great One. The Atlantis had encountered warships of every major race when in proximity of Base Five and not a single one of them could win a straight fight with her. If she was fully functional… which she wasn’t… she could engage three or four warships. In her current condition she was more than a match for one ship of the line… much less a pirate. Unless the pirate was packing something they had never see… which was a possibility.

=^=This is Commander Penny. We see you in proximity of the Freighter. Did you rescue her?=^= The Frontier had left Base Five at the same time but was clearly slower and was 8 minutes distant. =^=Boy your ship can move… =^= Sensors also detected two destroyers of The Nine… running at warp 6 14 minutes off.
