The crew of the Curiously Strong looked on with curiosity. “What is that device you are using?” As they observed the use of a dermal re-generator and then medical tricorder. “I am not familiar with your ship and your technology.”
Ashlynn smiled “That is a dermal regenerator.” She said “It is an easy way to close open wounds quickly and repair the damage.” She said watching Gwen treat the injured crewman.
An officer, identified by a complete uniform, as opposed to most of the crew that were either partially uniformed or in what seemed to be casual clothes “Can I get a gross of those devices… perhaps we can negotiate a trade that would be mutually beneficial.”

Ashlynn was thoughtful “I might be able to get you a few of them, but not a gross.” She said “We’ll need to speak with the Captain when she returns. I’m sure we’ll be able to work out some sort of arrangment.” Ashlynn stated as her teams moved off to make repairs. She trusted them to keep their eyes and ears open for anything out of the ordinary. She looked at the Captain “You look like you’ve had better days. How can I help you with all of this chaos?” She asked.CMO
The Officer continued almost as if he had not heard her… “Yes, a gross would be very helpful for the poor injured orphans…” He paused to see if orphans had any effect on her… “I could work out generous terms.”
Ashlynn was unmoved by the word orphans “As I said, I can see about getting you three or four. A gross is beyond my capabilities.” She said firmly
“Perhaps we can start with that device,” nodding to the Dermal Regenerator in her hand. “A brief tutorial… and then I could give you two dozen Loran Fire Eggs…” He smiled as if that was the best deal ever spoken by anyone… ever.
The Captain seemed slightly annoyed by his officer but made no effort to stop him. “We’ve been raided by this pirate group relentlessly. I’m convinced they are backed by the Alfians, trying to strangle off our trade. Your ship, has high speed. I was unable to scan her weapons, but I presume they match. Perhaps the Nine can offer you a trade to protect our unarmed transports? “

GM“That will have to be something that we discuss with the Captain when they return.” She said “We’ll get you up and running again. It may be that you will need to talk with the Federation about getting an armed escort for your transports.” She added “How many times have you been attacked?” She asked as Gwen finished treating the injured crewman. “Shall we go see the rest of the damage.”

“We have 8 trade routes within 200 light years of this point.” He bobbed his head back an forth as if he were calculating the number, “Perhaps two dozen attacks in the past 240 cycles, (roughly 6 months). That’s over 20 percent of the freighters, at this rate no one will trade with The Nine…” The impact on The Nine was unknown to the Federation officer, but in relative terms, even the CMO knew the impact of the loss of trade to a planetary system… much less an entire star empire.

Lera and two additional engineers had gone to the Strong’s engineering center to help with repairs. With structural integrity all right, they could begin working on the systems in most desperate need.

EngShields, weapons, and propulsion were the most damaged, with weapons all but completely destroyed. The combat systems were fairly primitive, being different, but still 30 years behind Federation weapons. It is likely transports were equipped with less advance versions of the current systems.
The list of stolen items didn’t seem too special, but heavy building equipment seemed to be taken first… it could have been because it was the heaviest or most valuable.
A crew-member came up to the Captain, he was speaking softly, but not in a manner that the doctor couldn’t hear. “The Enodorian Battle Cruiser, Frontier has arrived off our port bow. Two ‘Nine’ cruisers are 12 minutes off.”
