Off Duty for another evening, Nash followed the gentle curve of the corridor as the door to Revna’s quarters came into view. He was fairly sure she would be in, it was after her shift when most of the crew were active, and some time had passed to let her settle in for the evening and not be rushing around, maybe. He was whistling, low and to himself, and he stopped when a crew member came into view further down the corridor, only to start again once they had passed.

Not being in the habit of wearing uniform unless he was required to he was wearing the same jacket as a few nights ago when he had last seen her, but the shirt and trousers were different. Single he was, sure, but no bachelor who had one pair of trousers for the week.

Reaching the door he didn’t pause in doubt or double check what he was doing, Nash was here for a reason already decided long in advance. The subtle smirk was already on his lips. With his left hand casually in his jacket pocket, he pressed the chime with his right and waited to see if Revna was in.

Revna was indeed in her quarters. She wasn’t up for company. She simply say on her couch and breathed.
“Are you going to answer that or not?” Runs, her twin sister asked. Knowing Revna wouldn’t, Runa shrugged and called out, “Come in!”
When the door opened Runa looked from the man to her sister, mouthed a silent “Wow” and slipped out the door, around Nash.
Revna looked up and groaned to herself. She wasn’t ready to deal with Mr doesn’t-date-on-a-first-date yet. She stood, probably too quickly. She was wearing a long flowing skirt with a high necked blouse. Taking a very slow, and not as deep as she’d like, breath Revna asked, “What can I do for you?

Nash blinked again just to make sure he was seeing what he thought he was seeing, then looked from Revna to the back of the woman heading away from the room down the corridor. Then back to Revna. Despite the call to ‘come in’, he didn’t. Despite the confusion Revna’s tone didn’t sound terrible inviting and she looked uncomfortable.

He moved so that he was in the doorway, and leaned his right forearm against the frame casually. “First, are you alright? You don’t look like you’re comfortable. Second, you could explain to me how you did that. Walk past me and then stand up from the couch within walking back in the room again,” Nash raised his eyebrow in a questioning manner, but the slight smile remained.

Revna grinned and then laughed softly, “That was Runa, my twin sister. She going to be taking over the school on board.” Revna ignored the first question. She didn’t really know how to answer. Physically she wasn’t alright but she was as alright as she could be. And Nash made her…off balance. He knew it and so did she, and she didn’t really know what to do about it. “Are you going to stand in the doorway or tell me what brought you here? Or maybe” Revna’s eyes twinkled poking fun just a bit, “you are in need of a counselor?”
Revna Edman

“Two outta three, Revna. You don’t get to be a Counselor with me yet. One day maybe, but today is not that day.” He stayed leaning in the doorway and watched her for a moment, his eyebrow raised again until it became clear she wasn’t going to tell him what was wrong, if anything. That was fine, she would when she wanted to. If she wanted to of course. The matter of her sister he would get to later. She hadn’t told him she had one, but he hadn’t asked either.

“As to what brought me here, you did,” and the smirk was there on his lips again as he looked at her. “I hear, on very good authority that the Atlantis is making a stop tomorrow evening somewhere special so the Science types can run a few scans. I’d like to show you something when we do, if you would like to come and see something with me.”

Lt Cmdr Nash
Revna licked her lips not quite sure what to make of that. He was there for her? She suppressed the little thrill that gave her. Was he asking her for a date? Or was he messing with her again? Or both? “I’d love to go.” What…? That hadn’t been what she meant to say, what she wanted to say but…he was smiling again, or at least his version. “You can come in. You don’t have to stay in the doorway.”

Nash didn’t move at all, his eyes held hers and his smile just spread, slowly, but wide. “I’ll pick you up here just before 8pm tomorrow, I’ll bring a drink and dessert. You just bring yourself and an appetite for something sweet.”

Dessert? Oh boy…there were so many things she could say to that if she could actually catch her breath without it hurting.

Standing up from his slight lean on the door frame, he straightened his jacket and cuffs, then stepped back slightly. It was clear he wasn’t going to enter her quarters. “I won’t stay, I’ll leave you to your evening Revna but tomorrow, it’s a date.”

Lt Cmdr Nash
“Until tomorrow then,” Revna said softly. The door closed behind him and she sat back down, breathing slowly forcing air through her lungs. Steadfastly ignoring the fact Nash wanted to take her on a date. The thought made her heart race a little and she really needed to be able to breath first.

7:56pm the following Evening and Nash came to a stop once again at Revna’s door. Same jacket of course, but this time wearing a collared shirt with the top few buttons casually undone, and a more formal looking pair of trousers than he had worn in Ten Forward. In his left hand now was a basket, an old style picnic basket in fact.

Reaching forward once more, he hit the chime and waited but the tune he whistled softly was different to the previous day, more adventurous.

Revna had kicked her sister out hours ago. Runa had been poking fun at her sister’s expense most of the day. Revna, calm cool collected Revna was flustered. She’d finally just decided on a squared high neckline dress to cover the scars. It was form fitting till it flaired at her hips. She felt silly worrying over it but she did all the same. Revna opened the door and the breath caught in her lungs. Well hello handsome Revna had to force the air to move through her damaged lungs. Maybe this wasn’t a good idea…she noticed the basket then and smiled. She stepped out into the corridor. “Hello, Bash.”
Revna Edman

“Hi,” Nash said simply and easily. “You look gorgeous in that dress,” he told her, and she did without any doubt in his mind. He knew what the high necked dress was covering, but he didn’t let her know that he knew yet. He would let her tell him in her own time.

“There is, one thing we need to do before we go. Would you mind if we went into your quarters for a moment? Trust me, it’s part of the evening, you’ll love it.” He grinned this time, and it was a grin that spoke volumes of plots and layers within plots. Plans in motion.
