“Ah Anne” He said with a cheeky grin across his face, “I was beginning to think after last night drinking you weren’t going to make it in time before we departed I am glad you finally turned up!” He laughed turning his head to the quarter-deck his projecting his voice shouted “Put your sea legs on boys, bring in the plank, hoist the sails and prepare to depart were going fishing!” Turning to Anne, “After you” He sad indicating to the large wheel at the quarter-deck. Around the crewman were running about putting away the mops and buckets as they began to raise the foresails to depart the harbor at maneuvering speeds.

Revna laughed softly, “I drink you under the table any day, Calico and we all know it.” She raised her voice, “Isn’t that right, boys?” And a choras of agreement followed her to the quarter-deck. Revna’s eyes lit up and she grabbed the wheel. She shouted orders for oars and began the cadence. The oars moving smoothly to her orders sending them out of the port and into the sea. Soon she called the oars in and the sails down. She turned and grinned at him, “Where do you think the fish are biting today? We have coffers to fill.”

Reaching behind him he pulled out an old and tatty map, which smelt of rum and wine. “I got this off an English privateer, and by got I borrowed it from him, and by borrowed I of course stole it.” Olly chuckled as he stretched it out revealing the Bahamas and the surrounding area, a line dotted from Havana through the straight of Florida and of the map. “An English merchant ship is due to depart Havana for Britain fille with silk, coffee and gold were going to make sure it never reaches its final destination. ” He turned to the flag duty crewman “Raise those new English colors, its time to put our spent money to good use” And he watched as from within a chest a Union Jack was presented and raised.

Revna watched the colors go up and then the first good wind caught the sails and the ship seemed to jump forward. Revna kept her feet when even some of the holographic sailors stumbled. The wind whipped across the deck scattering sea spray. She inhaled deeply and reached down to the crate at her feet and picked up a compass. “Give me that map Calico, you know you can’t find your way out of an open box.” She checked the map and the compass and spun the wheel expertly to port and then straightened the Kingston onto the correct course. She leaned her hip against the wheel to keep it steady while she tucked several strands of hair under her hat.

“That’s why I leave the actual sailing in your capable hands, leaving me with the fun stuff like fighting and diplomacy.” Enjoying himself Olly had taken up position facing Revna, watching her as she masterfully navigated the ship through the blue highway. They crashed through the waves with sea spray often caressing his skin the smell reminding him of home, he was glad that he had someone to share this particular program with. Around them the crew had erupted into a sea chanty of William Taylor, some of his crew had even picked up a flute, a barrel had been upturned and was being used as a drum, Olly couldn’t help but join in.

William Taylor was a brisk young sailor
Full of heart and full of play
Till he did his mind uncover
To a youthful lady gay

Four and twenty British sailors
Met him on the king’s highway
As he went for to be married
Pressed he was and sent away

Folleri-de-dom, de- daerai diddero
Folleri-de-dom, domme daerai dae
Folleri-de-dom, de- daerai diddero
Folleri-de-dom, domme daerai dae

Sailor’s clothing she put on
And went to board a man-o-war
Her pretty little fingers long and slender
They were smeared with pitch and tar

On that ship there was a battle
She amongst the rest did fight
The wind blew off her silver buttons
Her skin was bared all snowy white

Folleri-de-dom, de- daerai diddero
Folleri-de-dom, domme daerai dae
Folleri-de-dom, de- daerai diddero
Folleri-de-dom, domme daerai dae

From between the chorus a loud shout erupted “SHIP AHOY!” through foresails and the job people were pointing, taking out his telescope he put it to his eye, it was exactly what they were looking for, another cry went out “She bears the mark of English merchants!” A loud cheer roared around them.

Revna joined in for a bit, until the pace of the song shortened her breath. One of the sailors came up trying to goad “Anne” to dance. She pushed him away with a laugh, “Go on and clean the deck or something. I’m steering!” She laughed at the absurdity of it. And then “SHIP AHOY!” “What say you Jack? Should we run her down or make her come to us?” She glanced at Oliver, a wicked playful gleam in her eye, obviously enjoying the program.

Looking between her wicked gleam and to the ship again, he laughed the same wicked smile spreading across his own face “Let’s have some fun with our food shall we, Raise the black flag lets give em something to think about!” Again a chorus of cheers as the skull and crossbones was raised replacing the English flag. “Prepare a cannon shot so they know we’re here!” He watched as his forward cannon was loaded the signal being given that it was ready “FIRE!” Quickly followed by a huge exploding the smell of gunpowder assaulting his senses and smoke filled the deck.

From the crow’s nest this time, “They’re raising the white flag! She’s surrendering!”

Oliver Loughty

Revna looked at Oliver, “That was a little easy.” She turned the boat presenting a narrower target and ordered the sails adjusted, coming in fast and at an angle, just incase. “Ready starboard cannons, we’ll leave nothing behind. Get the planks!” Revna had never actually been on a Atlantic pirate ship, from any country or era, and had no idea what she was doing with the pirates, but it was fun!

From their portside towards the west two Small figTes emerged from behind the peninsula, their main sails at full and heading towards them and English colours fluttering in the wind. Shots sounded but fell short they were waiting for them, damn that privateer. ‘It’s A Trap!’ shouted Olly the merchant ship now heading off on its original course as they Kingston found itself sandwiched.

“LOOSE THE MAINS AND READY THE CANNONS LADS!! LET’S DRAG THEM TO A WATERY GRAVE!!”

Olly Loughy

Revna shouted orders to turn the sails, again, and then spun the wheel. The bow was beautiful on the Kingston, oh well. Making use of the wind crashing across the swells of the waves, Revna aimed the boat to ram the port side figtes, crashing the hull. “Starboard canoons, FIRE!” She turned to Olly, laughing. Obviously having fun, and then swallowing a mouth of sea water as a connon blast sent up a huge splash of water. “GET THE TORCHES” and the firey sticks were hurled across to the portside figtes. “Ready Starboard cannons!” Just a little closer.
Revna Edman

Not wanting to miss the actual action Olly had jumped down and begun helping with the cannons, pulling them into position and shouting orders and getting the men ready as they passed about the rifles and rapiers. “NO QUARTER!” He shouted as the two ships began closing into range their shots now just a few hundred or so meters short, he turned to his companion and smiled, ‘This is going to be way too much fun’ it said without staying the actual words.

Runa shook her head and laughed. Oliver was certainly enjoying his role. She turned back to the wheel. She glanced a the midshipman, “Oars out!” She rowed them back from the rammed ship, the sudden hole allowing water to rush in and begin sinking the ship. “Row!” She set the cadence, moving the ship away and turning it toward the next one. Between the torches and the giant hole the ship was no longer a problem. A few of the British crew jumped aboard while the ships had been stuck together. “JACK! On the Foredeck!” She glanced down at him, while she laughed. Oh it had been too long since she sailed. Runa ordered the rowers again and sped them along to the next ship. She hoped to ram their starboard side before they got the cannon doors open and ram them shut.
