Revna looked at Mardusk a moment, “Your mom and the captain?” higher ups “Your mother is an Admiral, isn’t she? I remember reading that when I got a briefing of the crew on my way here. That must have been....well if it was my family I’d have taken a shuttle somewhere,” she laughed obviously joking. “Tell me Mardusk what do you enjoy most about being chief of security on Atlantis?”

Lt. Edman, Counselor

Mardusk chuckled. “Yeah… she’s been in Star Fleet almost thirty years now.” and paused and thought a moment.

“I think the thing I like best is that here the rest of the Command Staff doesn’t see me as a blunt object. I’ve had a few duty stations where it was different.” and he smiled, but it was obviously sarcastic. “My favorite was when the CO called me a… oh, how was it…” and he looked down in thought and then chuckled. “Oh, yeah.. ‘ a beast with a strong back’. Wrote it right there in my fitness report. Priceless..”

Revna suddenly sat up, her eyes sparking. What the crew didn’t know about her yet, was her temper, over those she felt protective over. Her family, friends, patients, and her crew. And this crew was very quickly becoming more than just that. She pulled a PaDD from the pocket of her chair. “Just a moment.” Her voice seemed to crackled, it so different than her normal soft spoken attitude, when she was growing up she was told it was ‘cute.’ It probably was if you weren’t on the other end of it. She made a habit of only reading basic info on a personnel file before she first met with anyone, so Revna hadn’t gotten to his performance reports yet. She scrolled through the PaDD and found the entry, her eyes widened at the name. “Micah Crowell, why am I NOT surprised.” She put the PaDD away after making a note on it. “Well, he’s a small man who’s easily scares himself.”

And then she was moving on. “Where do you think you will go from here? Or do you think you’d want to stay here. All officers want something different, command, their own ship, a crew that they can work with.”

Lt. Edman, Counselor

Again the meaty Orion shrugged. “I go where they send me, Doc. I mean, I’m not asking for a transfer any time soon, mind you. But I grew up a Fleet Brat. Transient outlook comes with the territory.” and he cocked his head to the side. “But if I had to leave like right now? That would kinda suck. Just found a girl to put up with me!” and he laughed.

Revna smiled. Her thoughts turning back to the crew as a whole. Nash had told her that the Atlantis was a good place for lost souls to find themselves. Apparently, he wasn’t wrong. She was seeing that more and more as she met more of the crew. “Well I wish you both the best. Okay last question from me, and then you can ask me whatever you feel the need to.” Revna always allowed people to ask questions. For some it kept the balance, for others it eased the requirement to answer questions about themselves, but most importantly it created dialogue and connections. “What is the thing you struggle most with, personally, in your position?”

Lt. Edman, Counselor

“Gonna need you to be more specific, Counselor. Are you asking ‘what my biggest internal struggle is? Or do you mean what do I personally find the most difficult external struggle to be?” he asked. He wasnt deflecting, Mardusk didnt waste time with foolishness like that. Instead, he wanted to make sure he was answering the question she asked; not the one he thought she was asking.

Mardusk, CoS

Revna had left the question vague on purpose. How a person choose to answer said a lot about how they looked at the world. “How about you tell me both.”

Lt. Edman, Counselor

Mardusk nodded once and said “Okay. Internally? Patience. I have a temper, for sure. But I try and keep it evened out at work. Doesn’t always happen though. As far as the external… willful ignorance. Drives me nuts. Individuals who ignore all the warning signs that what they are doing is going to blow up in their face… and they do it anyway. And I think that struggle is based on the fact that rarely is the idiot the one who ends up hurt. It’s almost always some poor person that just happened to be there at the time.”

Mardusk, CoS

Well Revna would not be telling him about the spectacularly stupid thing she had done. At least she was the only one who had gotten hurt though. “Well Mardusk, I have no more questions for you. I’ll have the formal report done in a couple of days, but, and you knew this, you are fit for duty as far as I’m concerned.”
Lt. Edman, Counselor

A loud slap accompanied his hands landing forcefully on his thighs. “Awesome! Appreciate the time, Doc.” and he stood up. He held out a truly large green hand towards her and said “Hope you find a solid place here. Its a good ship, good crew.” and he smiled.
