Ollie was having one of those days, with not much in the way of work the scientist found himself doing the one annoying habit he had, which came in the form of endless pacing, and by pacing walking the entire ship. The arboretum his usual solace was currently in quarantine because of a plant he had attempted to grow had spread its apparently poisonous spores when it blossomed all over the room which when consumed or come into contact with the skin would begin reproducing, fortunately, he managed to get out of there quick but had to lock down the room until the 39th hour when the spores would die and it would be safe to reenter.

Which left the scientist to wandering the halls and going through the periodic table song as he did,

There’s Hydrogen and Helium
Then Lithium, Beryllium
Boron, Carbon everywhere
Nitrogen all through the air

With Oxygen so you can breathe
And Fluorine for your pretty teeth
Neon to light up the signs
Sodium for salty times

Magnesium, Aluminium, Silicon
Phosphorus, then Sulfur, Chlorine and Argon
Potassium, and Calcium so you’ll grow strong
Scandium, Titanium, Vanadium and Chromium and Manganese…

Angelina was off duty and wandering the ship as she often did since arriving. It helped her to wander on different paths each time. She needed the memories of the corridors to keep her in check in a crisis. When you were running around the ship calling for backup, you couldn’t always stop to tap out a location query. Hearing the ditty as she came down one hall, she smiled. Her father had taught her the song to help her thru the Academy. Thankfully, basic science was all she needed for security. Then it was only so they could identify which things were toxic and which things weren’t in case of an emergency.

Just before turning the corner to meet the other singer, she raised her voice in the vacant corridor and sang back, like an answering echo.

This is the Periodic Table
Noble gas is stable
Halogens and Alkali react aggressively
Each period will see new outer shells
While electrons are added moving to the right

Iron is the 26th
Then Cobalt, Nickel coins you get
Copper, Zinc and Gallium
Germanium and Arsenic

She came around the corner then and smiled wondering who else was pondering old Academy lessons. She was wearing a deep red pair of loose fitting slacks with a white top on that had a crimson brocade pattern around the neck and short sleeve edges. It set off the green tone of her skin as much as the black hair that framed her face, loose and wavy past her shoulders. Eyes of hazel had taken on a slightly greener tint in the corridor lights and they were friendly as they glanced at the man before her.

OOC: I beleive Lieutenant Auleraine Briston response has gotten lost?

((LOL no, signed off as wrong char. Just Angelina’s response… Lera’s was just wrong id. Second post was correction for format and spelling))

“Ah, so I am not the only one who remembers the periodic table song then? And crazy enough to be singing it.” Laughed Oliver, dressed in nothing more than his uniform unlike the woman in front of him. “Another scientist or just really good memory with a good singing voice?” He asked, it wasn’t uncommon for non-scientific folk to know the song but more often or not it was a scientist who would be also singing it.

Angeline smiled at the comment, a slight blush touching her cheeks. “Scientist? Me? Gracious no.” She laughed at the absurd idea. “I’m Angelina. Just an average security officer whose father was kind enough to teach her the song to pass basic Academy Science.” She shook her head. “I don’t have the mind to keep at such works. But I am guessing you ‘are’ a scientist? And I admit I hadn’t thought about the song since exams. But I heard it and couldn’t resist calling it back to you.”
