Once she made a second sweep to be sure everything was all right, Lera tapped her comm badge. =^=Lieutenant Commander, this is Brison, we are good to go down here. Awaiting orders.=^= She nodded to the others and smiled. “Now we wait and see.”

Ashlynn responded =^=Return to my location.=^= She said and looked at the freighter captain “Looks like your ready to get back under weigh, once my team returns, we’ll take our leave of you and head back to our ship.” She said with a smile “Is there anything else you need help with?” She asked.

=^=Copy, Chief. On our way.=^= She smiled and called to the others. “All right guys, pack it up. We are done here.” She turned to her hosts and smiled with a respectful nod. “It was a pleasure helping you. You should be fine now. And here,” she tapped out a quick command on the nearest console. “I can’t share tech, but I can help a bit within other confines. Use these as your new parameters. They are a bit more narrow. But they will keep you running more efficient and it takes into account the drift on other systems. Using these new specs, you should be able to keep your systems closer in line than before with less issues.” She smiled and watched the others leave. “Is there anything else I can help with before I go?”

The chief looked at the parameters… “How..” then he stopped. It was fairly clear now that they wouldn’t share the knowledge of the formula that Lera had used. “Thank you for your help. The seals and repairs you made are stronger than the originals.” If Lera had a month she could make the ship at least 10 percent more efficient as such there repairs were notable but not significant.

Realizing his cut off query was because of her ‘Prime Directive’ speech earlier, she shook her head and lightly touched his arm a moment. “It’s not a secret, honestly. Your ship needs repairs. And for every system that fails, subsequent systems go closer to ‘outside’ edges of operational parameters. If you can catch the first in the cascade, then get ahead of it and tighten things down, the system if forced to bolster each partnering system up.” She laughed. “Once you are back up and running 100%, you will find that these readings will vary slightly, but will stay pretty close to middle of the line for tolerances.” She watched his face as she explained and hoped it made sense. Sure, some of her tools and methods were things she couldn’t share. But the fundamentals weren’t a secret, merely a skill learned in time. And he would have discovered it himself in a few weeks of adjustments.

The mechanic looked longingly at her tool bag and shrugged. “Despite the fact you won’t share your tools. I appreciate your efforts.” Somehow the bolt of Illurian Silk found its way into his hands. He reached out and placed it under her arm. “It is yours now.” The fabric seemed to have an internal shimmer primarily a rich blue but waves of gold that appeared and disappeared almost without any explanation.

Lera laughed. “It will probably get me in trouble, so I’ll have to share it. But I will take it as good will. How’s that? I do appreciate it and don’t worry about tools. You have skills and those are far more important.” She cocked her head slightly and looked at him. “Wel’sworth… this is your ship. Get to know her. Get to know how she feels, and sings and cries. Like any woman you are close to, you will learn subtle cues from her. A pitch that says she is clogged somewhere, a whine that she’s pushing the outer envelope of spec limitations, and the near silent hum that she’s well and ready to defend you to her death. You learn those cues and you won’t need fancy tool from another species or time period. You have everything you need here, already.” She nodded once more and smiled. “Learn your Lady and she will carry you to the stars and back home again, every time. Thank you, again, for your hospitality.” She gave a final nod to him and then the others where they were and headed out of engineering.
