“That, more then I would like. But the team has gotten pretty good about getting the needed repairs done as quickly as possible,” she said looking over at the where the engineers were pulling the equipment off of the dolly for installation.

She chuckled at the Chief Engineers humour and mirrored her gaze as she too watched the engineers buzz around the trolly which had seemingly ran away from them. Ella had considered herself becoming an engineer once but security was where her natural talents resided.

“Come on, we can go talk in my office, it is a little bit safer,” she said laughing, leading the way.

“I hope so, you really should consider put a warning on door.” She joked following the other woman to what she assumed would lead to her office.

“Not a bad idea,” Koria said over her shoulder.

As they walked in, Koria grabbed a free stool and pushed it towards Lokaa. She had replaced the traditional desk, and had several work benches surrounding the perimeter of the office. She grabbed another stool and sat down.

The ‘office’ if you could call it that was more akin to a workshop you’d find in the Elasian trade sector or armoury. There was no desk and surrounding her was a number of work benches. She stopped the stool that the Chief Engineer had rolled in her direction with her foot and sat down on it. She liked the working environment, that she had set up here and it was seemingly practical maybe she’d turn her office into a shooting range or battle arena!

“I guess I should introduce myself. Koria Sutret. How are you liking the Chimera so far?”

Lt Sutret - CE

“Its nice to meet you Koria” She said with a friendly smile. The name Koria was pleasant to say and hear, even though it had more than two syllables. “The crew have been extremely kind to me, sometimes my forwardness get received the wrong way and sometimes people are intimidated by me because of my background but no one seems to mind her. The ship itself is amazing, I’m looking forward to call it my home for the foreseeable future! How about you? Any tips for the fresh meat?” She asked.

“Make sure you keep working on ducking,” Koria said with a laugh. “The Chimera has certainly been through a lot recently, including a certain former CO letting the marines blow giant holes in each deck. Don’t get me wrong, it was completely warranted at the time, but it was a pain to clean up after the fact let me tell you. We only recently got out of an extended stay in dry dock.

“Why doesn’t that surprise me, Major Lardel strikes me as someone who would give his right arm to blow things up or in this case cut multiple holes through the ship’s decks. Marines eh?” She’d already met the good Marine CO and well she had been less than impressed. She’d tried with the best fo intentions to blur the lines that separated security and marine but it wasn’t going to be as easy as she thought.

“But I would definitely study up on the deck plans. The Mjolnir class is not set up as you have probably been accomsted too. Because the ship is a carrier, a lot of items are rearranged around the flight decks. The ships bridge is actually 5 decks below us right now. That and the ship in itself is just big.”

“Thirty-Five decks big to be precise” She smiled, Ella was young and maybe a little pretentious but she took her job serious, while she didn’t know the decks like the back of her hand she’d certainly been reading upon them. “Its a lot to remember but I think I’ll get it eventually.” She explained trying to be appreciative of the woman recommendations.

“I see someone has been studying!”

Koria leaned back as she looked over Ella. “Okay I’ve got to ask, what about your background makes people intimated? To be honest, unless someone is planning on working in my engineering, I don’t have time to keep up with most of the personnel changes around here.”

Lt Sutret - CE

“That’s perfectly reasonable, I dont think I’d be able to do anything different either.” Her responsive was quickly allowing her time to think how much she’d let the woman know. Ella had found honesty was one of the best weapons, “Well usually its all fine and good until they find out I’m Elasian. We are a stubborn, brutal, matriarchal warrior race with usually no regard for anyone but ourselves. ” She chuckled indicating he had more to say with the palm of her hand, “Our society is far different to Earth’s, we enslave our men by crying…” She shook her hands and waving her fingers, “Disclosure, my tears have a biochemical effect on men which makes them utterly at my control, they quite literally fall head over heels for me so hearing that Men are intimidated by me because of what I could do to them and woman are intimidated because of what I could do to their men.” She shrugged, “honestly though I’m not like that, at least I try not to be like that anymore.” She explained, her shoulders dropping.

“So self absorbed, and only looking out for yourself? Sure sounds like most of the races out there,” Koria said with a grin. “I have to say, I’m not sure what other characteristics you would want in the Chief of Security, though those tears of yours could come in mighty handy in some situations…” she trailed off as she got lost momentarily in a thought. “Are the effects permanent?”

Lt Sutret - CE

“For Elasian men yes, but for other humanoids it has a varying level of effect and usually wears of after time with contributing factors such as mental and physical state, diet and whether or not they love something or someone stronger than the effect of the tears.” She bit the inside of her cheek, “I would never use my tears intentionally, no matter what” He tone was a little defensive but only because she hated the idea of forcing someone into servitude. How very un-Elasian of you Ella, such a disappointment’* the last words her mum had said to her when she left Elas. It was also the last time she cried in front of anyone.
