Lardel made his way through the Marine barracks and went straight to the newly arrived Ground Force CO’s office. He pressed the chime and waited.

He wasn’t nervous, quite the contrary. He simply knew what it was like being newly arrived and having to jump right in.

Lardel, CAG

The Colonel was at his desk and bellowed out “Come in!” The only thing in the office was a computer, coffee maker, Marine Flag and the Colonel. Nothing else but the sweet, sweet aroma of coffee brewing. Jon looked up and noticed the officer from the files he was given. It wasn’t hard since there really wasn’t another Major on board or a Zakdorn for that matter. “Ah! Major Lardel is it? Do come in. I am Lt. Colonel Muhjon Vamuhn. Most people call me Jon. Take your pick.” Turning around he poured two cups of coffee and turned back around setting one on the other end of the desk for the Major and one for himself. “I was just about to send you a message to set up a meeting with you. I’ve only been in this office for 20 minutes so everything is warming up so they say. What can I do you for Major? Please sit.”

Lt. Colonel Muhjon Vamuhn, Marine Battalion Commander

“Sir.” Lardel said and took a seat. “I wanted to stop by and introduce myself. Figured since we were going to be working together, we may as well get acquainted. How was your trip to the Chimera?”

Lardel, CAG

Jon took a sip of coffee and sat down himself. “It was long being in that shuttle. The older I get, the less I can stand them. But you’re a pilot so you must be used to them compared to me.” He took another sip. “Yes we will be working together. Once I get situated and inprocessed here, we can begin doing landing drills and the like when the time provides.”

Col. Jon, GROUND Force Commander

Lardel cocked his head slightly to the side. “So as to make sure you are in the loop, sir, landing drills are being done via the holodeck. Hard to do them real-time when we are at warp. We’ve got a feed from our flight simulators direct to the holodecks. That way your people get the full Sim and my aviators get their mandatory hours in simultaneously. Also eases the delay on feed from flight sim to ground ops.”

Jon let out an audible sigh. “Yes. Major. I am aware that we can’t do landing drills while at warp. Hence why I said When the time provides. But holodeck training will have to suffice for now. Oh, will I need to be very exact with you Major? At all times?”

He picked up the mug and took a sip. “Additionally, I’d like to see some load-in drills… especially with your new recruits. The Black Sheep can clear the flight deck en mass in u der five minutes… but if one of your troops drops the mortar tube and kicks it under the bird, that delays things.” He looked at the Lieutenant Colonel and smiled slightly.

“And yeah… speaking from experience on that one.” and he chuckled slightly.

Jon smiled as well and then went expressionless. “Major. Is there some kind of problem here, between you and I or our two groups? Because if there is, I want it to stop right here and now. I am not the previous Commander. I will not be held accountable for his failings. I will hold myself accountable for my men and women from here on it. There will be drills done and that you can bet your sweet a$$ on. Will there be mistakes? Of Course. That is part of learning or did you come out of your mama a fully fledged Major in the Corps? Training is where mistakes are allowed to happen and should happen in order for everyone to learn from it and to minimize future mistakes. I would rather have them kick a hundred motor tubes at you planes during training then to do it when it counts. When my men are ready I will do drills and then we WE, Major, will do drills together, day and night in order to be the best damn Marines there ever were. I want us working as one! Are you up to the task?”
