Lunan Farrah had spent most of the beta shift making calculations, combining particles and writing research papers; several things he enjoyed doing, several things that made him happy. Lunan found his lab to be his happy place; on the other hand, the ship’s counsellor had recommended to the young Bajoran man that he take time to… socialise. To that end, he found himself sat in the Chimera‘s mess hall that afternoon, alone on a centre table, sipping cautiously at a cup of strong Raktajino.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Koria walked into the mess hall, hoping to grab a late lunch. The one downside of such a large ship was that there was always something or another broken. Not to mention that while the wings had brought their own techs, there were still plenty of times that her engineers were called down to assist.

Picking up her tray from the replicator, she looked around the mess hall. It was just enough off of a regular break that there weren’t many people around, but she spot Farrah sitting at a table by himself. While she didn’t mind eating by herself, Koria was needing a break from all of the engineering talk.

Walking over she stopped behind one of the empty chairs at his table. “Mind if I join you?”

It took a few seconds for Lunan to register the Chief Engineer standing to the side of him, but he gave a curt nod and a quick, “Certainly Lieutenant,” before returning to stare absentmindedly into the reflection in his mug.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Koria raised an eyebrow as she set her tray down. Sitting down in the chair she pulled out, she flourished her napkin for a second before setting it in her lap.

“Anything good in that mug?”

Picking up her fork she stabbed some of her salad before taking a bite.

Lt Sutret - CE

“What?” Lunan looked up as if he had not noticed Sutret sit down and added, “Oh, just a Raktajino, I’m thinking about something, that salad looks… interesting.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“Does it? I asked the replicator to surprise me, and I’m not quite sure what I think of it so far. And I’m no quite sure what this is,” she said stabbing some sort of purple vegetable. “I was feeling rather adventurous today for some reason.”

Sticking her fork into the salad again she took another bite. “So you said you were thinking about something, anything you want to talk about? Or if you want some quiet contemplation, I can leave you alone here…”

Lt Sutret - CE

Lunan chided himself for being so distant, For the sake of the prophets man, you’re not going to get anywhere being distant like this Farrah! “Not at all Lieutenant,” he added aloud, “If I’m being honest, I am missing… the unrestricted nature of my old job.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Freja stepped into the messhall, normally she had a regular relationship with her replicator, but sometimes she just needed to be in among people.

Ordering a mocha from the replicator, she nodded in acknowledgement to her CE and CSO, “It’s nice to see the both of you not working too terribly hard, would you like some additional company? You can say no, it won’t hurt my feelings any,” she shrugged, “Some people would rather not interact with their CO outside of the job, which I understand.” She truly did and she also understood why other COs she knew tended to avoid these situations, but she’d always attempted to set out to be a different type of commanding officer and part of that included letting her department heads see that she was a mere mortal just like they were.

Lunan stood quickly, he may not have been keen on the concept of socialising, but he understood protocol, “Of.. of course ma’am, can I get you anything else?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Koria laughed slightly as Farrah jumped out of his seat. “I was going to say that it was up to Mr. Lunan here, but it seems like he does not mind. So please join us Captain. We were just getting started on a discussion about how our posting here is different then our previous postings.”

Koria looked over at Farrah and tried to pull off an innocent smile.

Lt Sutret - CE

Lunan shot Koria a questioning glance and tried to pull a similarly innocent smile to the Captain, “I was just saying that it was.... interesting to be on board a ship like this ma’am.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“Well I do like to keep an interesting ship, to be sure, it stops monotony from seeping into the crew,” Freja remarked with a smile, taking a seat, “The fighter pilot in me doesn’t like when things become too routine, that’s when mistakes start happening. I’m glad to hear that the first ship Starfleet let me command is at least described as interesting.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“You were a fighter pilot Captain?” Lunan asked with a little more interest than he’d have liked.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“I was, part of various fighter groups for much of the career,” she replied, “Commanded a few squadrons in my time too, had fun with it too. I’m enjoying the different set of challenges that command has though.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“I would definitely say that the Chimera was anything but routine. I don’t know if I’ve ever been on another ship where the marines had to blow holes between each deck to get through the ship…” Koria said trailing off before taking another bite of her lunch.

Lt Sutret - CE

Lunan gave a short laugh, then caught himself, as if doing it for the first time, “What were the kind of missions you’d go on as a Marine, Captain?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“Oh, I was never a marine,” Freja explained, “The marines don’t have a corner on the fighter market, though I pulled a few joint missions with them. Mostly escorting various ships in dangerous territory, but I had a few hit-and-run type missions where I’d hit a target and get the heck out of there, ideally before anyone realized what happened.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“Still,” Lunan said with a grin, “You must have escorted some interesting clients.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“Indeed I did, taken down a few pompous officers who felt they knew better too,” Freja remarked with a laugh, “Especially the ones who felt that because I was Betazoid, I should be the doctor or the counselor, not the pilot.”

~Freja Andreassen~

Lunan grinned, “Bajorans often suffer from the same stereotypes, we’re often painted as rebels.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

BUMP

-Kieron-

“Oh I imagine, fortunately they figured out pretty quickly that I would make a horrible counselor,” Freja remarked with a grin, “I can be tactful and diplomatic when it calls for it as a CO, but I definitely have a respect for those who are able to stomach looking after the mental health of people.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“And how did those officers fare on their flights?” Koria asked with a grin.

Lt Sutret - CE

Lunan added quickly, “I’m guessing not brilliantly?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“I may or may not have pulled a few maneuvers that weren’t 100% necessary for the mission,” Freja remarked with a grin, “Of course, I had to do them due to some unforseen obstacles.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“I must admit,” Lunan said with a sly grin, “I have recently developed an… interest in flying one of the marine ships.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-
