Lieutenant Lunan Farrah felt himself hopping expectantly on the balls of his feet expectantly; the Bajoran man was eager to get started on this mission, so wanted to get underway as quickly as possible.

As the turbolift doors parted, Lunan found the shuttlebay to be busier than expected. Several officers from different disciplines were milling around from corner to corner of the room, making sure that the shuttle was ready for the job. Collaring one of the Ensigns to his left, he asked, ‘I’m looking for Major Lordell?’

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“What, the Major?” came the reply. He scratched at the back of his head as he looked down the line of the bay. “He’s out taking a convoy to the transfer station. It’ll be a while before he’s back. I can try to scare up the deck officer. What did you need, ah.” He glanced at his pips. “Lieutenant.”
- Deck guy
OOC: Timeline doesn’t allow for the Major to be present on this as he’s out for a while there. However, we can do one of two things .. James can do a NE on this, or, if he wants, I can do one, or, conversely, we can do both. James?

OOC: Well James resigned from the ship… Would timeline line up that he could catch a ride down with the engineering teams?
OOC: That’ll learn me to not look at things outside of the main threads .. sorry.

OOC: I was aiming to see if Lunan could fly out to interface with the buoy, Kat wrote something about Lordell giving him an escort. Happy to do it alone if needs be :)
OOC: Yep, gotcha. I did follow it that far. Alone is no fun .. let’s see ..

After his meeting with the Counsellor, Lunan had learned that he needed to be a little more relaxed with members of the crew. The young Bajoran extended a hand, “Forgive me, Lieutenant Lunan Farrah, Chief Science Officer. Captain Andreassen has asked me to fly a shuttle out to the information buoy that the Chimera discovered recently, she told me she would offer the Major as a protection escort, but if he’s not available I am happy to go solo.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“In this space? Ma’am, if a Pendragon class ship went and disappeared, I think a small escort is the least we can do for you out here.” He turned, revealing a wicked cowlick at the back of his head, asking absently. “Are you a registered pilot? Ah, no offense ma’am. Just thought it would be a little challenge to do things with a buoy while trying to pilot.”

“Are you taking the buoy back? Small shuttle good for you?” he asked.
- Wookiee

Lunan couldn’t help but give a confused look at the fact that the Ensign called him ‘ma’am’ twice, but had the strangest feeling that they were nervous so thought nothing of it, “I only wish to download the data from the buoy to bring back to the Chimera for analysis. A runabout’s processing power would be beneficial, but if a small shuttle is all you can spare, I will work with what I have.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

He consulted his device and shook his head. “Two of our three runabouts are down with the chief engineer transporting some kind of equipment to the surface. The third is flagged for local travel only pending a manifold overhaul. I’d recommend a shuttle in this case. They would be easier to maneuver with. If you are looking for processing ability two of the shuttles have a science config to them. More brains and less braun. I can get the Euripides up in no time.”
- Wookiee

“That would be appreciated Ensign,” Lunan nodded briskly before tapping his combadge, “=/\= Lunan to Bridge, Captain, the Major is detained on the surface but with your permission, I would like to head across to the buoy in the Euripides?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

”=/\= Acknowledged Captain. =/\=,” Lunan closed the channel with the Bridge and opened another with Security, “=/\= Lunan to Security, I’d appreciate if you could spare an officer to accompany me on a mission?

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

While this happened, the deck hand moved to a comms panel on the bulkhead wall, engaging in a short but animated conversation. By the time he returned he was able to say, “Euripides will be up in two minutes. Escort wing is being prepped to launch when you’re ready, lieutenant.”
- Wookiee

“Much obliged Ensign, is there anything I need to know about the Euripides before I head out?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“She turns on a credit and the inertial dampers are a bit slow so when you turn the corners or accelerate you feel it. Think of yourself being on an amusement park ride or ground vehicle making turns. Just makes feel like you’re really moving.” The shuttle rose up a minute later, turning to face the bay doors. “And there you are. Any more questions?”
- Wookiee

“Though I’ve never been to a… what was it you called it? An amusement park? I’ll take your word for it.” Farrah nodded briskly and stepped into the craft.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“What do they teach young people nowadays?” he said, scratching his head and turning to go. “Safe flight, lieutenant,” he added.

As soon as Lunan got into the craft and fired up the Euripides the flight officer came on. =^= Euripides you are cleared to launch when ready. Your escort wing, Drawings and McGraw, the Quick Draw McGraw wing are in space awaiting you.
- Wookiee

”=/\= Understood,” Farrah replied, “=/\= Lunan to Bridge, I’m heading out now, I’ll report in as soon as I make contact with the probe. =/\=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

=^=Acknowledged Lieutenant, good luck,=^= Freja responded.

~Freja Andreassen~

Why do I feel like I’m going to need it? Lunan thought to himself. Setting the course he needed, Lunan held on to the console as the Shuttlecraft Euripides eased carefully out of the shuttlebay and into open space. Within seconds, he saw the wing of fighters that were accompanying him out to the buoy, “=/\= Fighter Wing, this is the Shuttle Euripides, checking comms. =/\=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

=^= Loud and clear Euripides =^= replied Drawings as both fighters came up alongside. =^= And ready when you are =^=

The trip through the corridor took several hours and in another direction from the way that the convoy had gone. While there were wisps of ‘drift’ along the corridor and one place where it had collapsed to a third of its regular width (though still more than sufficient for a Starship to travel through) requiring a slow to impulse and readjustment of course for Lunan. This was not a surprise event; there were buoys on either side warning of the issue.

However, the trio of ships were able to pass through without encounter or issue to reach the space where the ship graveyard was. It was in a section of the corridor that was widened by chance or purpose. Initial scans showed a vast number of relics drifting in this region that, oddly, appeared to be almost like they were caught in a kind of spatial eddy.
Wookiee

Arching an eyebrow at the sight of all the floating debris, Lunan thought it would be appropriate to take the stime to study the spatial phenomena, “Computer, can you identify the source of the gravimetric disturbances?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

OOC: Sorry .. I blame this on it being Friday .. are you referring to the earlier information of the disturbance, or of the spatial eddy here. .. Gene

OOC: The eddy, I figured he would just call it a gravimetric disturbance, I can edit if needs be?

-Kieron-

There was a pause as the computer strove to suss out what information it had from sensors and related information from logs. A 3-D map came up showing the roughly circular flat area with a dome like upper and lower appearing not unlike a small image of the galaxy. A color coded area on the diagram showed some ‘lines’ around the edges. =^= Subspace micro fractures are present in the region. Recommend navigating away from them. The fractures possess a guided gravitational effect that have caused the formation of the eddy. =^=
- Wookiee

“Can you identify what caused the fractures to appear?” Lunan replied, tapping a control to push the sensors’ range a little further.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

BUMP

-Kieron-

=^= Computations suggest that there is a 78% chance that the fractures were artificially created and only a 12% chance that they are naturally occurring. =^=
- Wookiee

As they scanned the area and worked on their findings. the sensors would ping three fighter approaching. =^= Marine Captian Vix to star fleet shuttle. Sorry for the delay navigating this space is a slow process. we are approaching you form the rear. We’ve been sent to offer escort and assistance if you need it.=^= Came Idzi’s voice.

Mar. Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

OOC: sorry for the delay i figured this was a good a place as any to join in with the idea we had of both of them together. Hope no one minds.
Nathan

”=^= Acknowledged Marine Captain, Lieutenant Lunan Farrah, Chief Science Officer. I would appreciate if you covered my six while I work. =^=”

OOC: Welcome back good sir!

=^= Acknowledged=^= Came Idzi reply as she patched her coms into the shuttles. Now she could keep updated on the situation and talk to her fighters or the shuttle of need be.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“Interesting,” Lunan said before opening a channel to the bridge, “=^= Lunan to Chimera, Captain, I would strongly urge caution as the mission moves forward, I have found evidence to suggest that someone made the gravitational distortions surrounding the eddy. =^=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Idzi was surprised by the findings but then again, this whole area had been a war zone =^= Lieutenant could this be some form of weapon?” =^= Idzi asked. It seemed logical to her and her past experiences knew it was possible. But the biggest question was was it a one a done weapon or where more made and could they still be around. If that was the case, someone had a serious ace in the hole.

Mar.Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

”=^= I wouldn’t rule it out as a possibility Captain,” Lunan replied, “=^= I’d reccomend raising your shields. =^=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Data relating to the ships noted relative ages of the hulks being from within the decade to some suggestive dates being upwards to 9,000 years back. Current energy readings were, apart from the spatial distortions, very nominal. Sporadic small energy readings from a half dozen ships came up, as well as the probe that was present, and a smaller detection from the stealth drone that had been deployed. That one was detectable because it was known by Lunan.
- Wookiee

“Why do I get the feeling we’re being watched?” Lunan said aloud to nobody in particular, before seeing if he could activate a tractor beam to catch the Stealth drone.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

The stealth drone was affixed to a piece of debris and looked pretty inert, not to mention that it looked like a ruined lump of metal. It did have a magnetic bonding to the debris. It was small enough that both could be brought into the shuttle; that latter part which belied it’s benign nature.

Idzi’s shields had been up since she deployed so instead she watched the surroundings. She felt like she was being watched as well. She had issued several orders to the fighters with her mainly to keep their heads on a swivel and conduct passive scans. Idzi herself was trying to asses the situation, if they got into trouble she wanted to know what the best evac route was. where combat would be toughest and so on. She had also started scanning the various wrecks around them to try and see if anything was hiding or not.

Mar. Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

The evac route was pretty much the way they came. This region was a kind of flattened spherical area of space that might be likened to say a canteen with the stoppered end being the entry to it, and the exit. That being said, one could go out beyond into the nebula cloud. Navigation was possible and there was some visibility, though logs had shown that instruments were not .. reliable within the cloud.

”=^= Tell me Marine Captain,” Lunan said, reopening the channel between the two ships, “Is this one of your more… interesting missions? =^= ”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Idzi was surprised by the sudden question but went with it =^= In this life perhaps. Its not every day you get to fly through an ancient battle field. But potential finding evidence of a potential ancient or modern weapon. Does put a dampener on things=^= she said simply but not unkindly. Idzi had five lifetimes worth of experiences thanks to Vix, but in her own life this certainly was an interesting mission, maybe not the most interesting but it certainly was interesting though.

Mar. Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

”=^= Forgive the question,” Lunan said quickly, “I have been told that… socialising would be beneficial to my career aboard the Chimera, it has been an interesting experience =^=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

=^= No worries. Socialising is good for you. And its good that you’re trying. So how about this? after this mission we meet up and have a good old chat. Find out more about each other=^= Idzi said kindly she didn’t mean to come off so short. It was something she was till learning even after all this time, her Admiral hat still crept on every now and then.

Mar. Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

“I would… appreciate that Marine Captain,” Lunan was slowly gaining more of a respect for his new colleague.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

BUMP

-Kieron-

Idzi Smiled to herself =^= I look forward to it=^= She replied warmly. she then turned her attention back to her sensors. She didn’t want to be caught unawares if someone decided to cause trouble.

Mar.Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

Lunan detected the warm hint in the Marine Captain’s voice and a small smile crossed his lips, “=^= We should get moving, the Eddy could become unstable at any moment. =^=” Lunan extended the range of the sensors to their maximum to find the buoy.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Idzi nodded to herself =^= Roger that lead the way. well provide escort =^= she said as she ordered the two fighters with her to take up escort positions.

Mar.Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

<BUMP> to keep it on the board

I’ll bump too!

-Kieron-

-BUMP-

-Kieron-

OOC: So many bumps … my apologies! You are free to shoot the Wookiee. He is in season and pretty ready to be shot .. rough last while :(
IC:

Sensors, however, did detect something - Vix would pick up a blip from an active sensor hit, a ping, not unlike say an old style sonar. But then it was gone. But something was out there amongst the wreckage.
- Wookiee

OOC: No worries, I hope all is now well in Wookieville ( I won’t lie, I sometimes BUMP just for the sake of keeping my counter at 0 ahahaha)

-Kieron-
OOC: Ohhhh .. clever ..

OOC: No worries glad you’re back
Nathan

IC: Idzi saw the blip on her scanner =^= Hold up Lieutenant. Something just blipped on my scanners=^= she said over the com as she tried to re-establish the blip =^= I can’t seem to pin down where or what it s, but there is something among the wreckage. Can you link your shuttles scanners with mine, maybe the two together we can figure out what’s going on =^= She asked

Mar.Capt Vix (2IC CAG)

Lunan gave an acknowledgement and tapped a few controls on the console in front of him, “=^= Establishing link-up, stand by. =^=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Linking scans could render a general area that this ‘ping’ may be coming from. It was in a dense cluster of wreckage.

A wider scan may render better results with triangulation methods. Right now the group is in too tight to get a more specific reading.

Wookiee

Idzi saw the issue with scanning an began issuing orders. She ordered the two fighter that where with her, to fan out in a general search pattern but go carefully. She also began manoeuvring herself a little further away from the shuttle far enough away to keep in contact and respond quickly to assist the shuttle f it came into issues, but far enough away to aid in the search. It might be nothing but Idzi wanted to be sure.

As she acted she kept in constant contact with the shuttle so they where aware of what she was doing.

Mar. Capt Vix (2 IC CAG)

Following the lead of Captain Vix, Lunan broke off from the fighter group and extended the range of his sensors by shunting power from the runabout’s shield array. With no sign of hostile activity thus far, the Bajoran thought the risk would be outweighed by the reward.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

BUMP

-Kieron-
OOC: Wookiees bruise easily … <G>
IC:

Triangulation needed patience and observation. The pings were not in a consistent pattern of time and by the location in a cluster of wreckage the signal became confused by reflection off other wrecks. However, after some observation the sensors finally lit up with a match. Within the cluster of wrecks, the sensors highlighted a tangled mass of metal that was about three times the size of a runabout.

The pings every so briefly highlighted an energy signature within when they came. However whether by design or chance that would only have been noted by a focused scan at the time of the ping like you were doing.
- Wookiee

OOC: Ouch! Hope you’re ok now my friend!

Lunan kept an eye on the pings as best he could, but it was becoming increasingly frustrating when he couldn’t focus on the exact location of the mystery energy signature. After a minute or two of weighing up his options, the Chief Science Officer reopened a channel to the other ships, “=^= Lunan to Vix, are you also seeing the blip that contains the energy signature? Pinpointing it may require us to get closer to the distortions, is your team prepared to do so? =^=”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

BUMP

-Kieron-

Idzi thought for a few seconds =^= Its risky, if we get to close we’ll get ripped apart. But if strengthened our shields we should be able to withstand it for a few moments. It wont be much time though=^= She replied through the come. It was a risky move and it could prove to be completely inconsequential

=^= What where you able to tell about the distortions?=^= she asked

Mar. Capt Vix (2IC CAG)
