a few hours later the USS Chimera would exit warp on the edge of the system there were eight planetary bodies in the system the stars of the system were a pair of Binary Dwarfs one white one brown the third planet was their destination it was on the very outermost edge of the Goldilocks zone meaning the Mar’Zek were lucky that they even had an existence in orbit of the small planet was the Lightfoot class Cargo Freighter SS Edmund Fitzgerald it was in a stable high orbit and was running dark on the side of the ship facing the planet respecting the Prime Directive even if they were not Starfleet

as the Chimera approached the planet the Operations officer called out “The Fitzgerald is hailing us” she said turning to look at the captain and XO.

GMT Phoenix

“Open channel,” Freja responded, standing.

~Freja Andreassen~

OOC: I’m back, I’m going to leave my LOA up for just a day or two while I catch up on a bunch of work that happened while I was spending time with family.

The officer opened the channel and appearing on the viewscreen was the olive-skinned careworn face of the Fitzgerald’s captain Felix Sherman he was a tall man and the wrinkles crossing his face showed he had many years of being a freighter captain under his belt his sliver hair was thinning but he still had a full head of it when he spoke it was a deep powerful voice this was a man who if he had taken a different career track might have well become an Admiral within Starfleet “This is Captain Sherman of the SS Edmond Fitzgerald Admiral Rivers said she would be sending a Starfleet ship to deal with the situation here I assume that would be you?” he asked kindly

GMT Phoenix

“Indeed it is, I’m Captain Freja Andreassen of the USS Chimera, Admiral Rivers indicated you’re having some technical issues that we will indeed do our best to assist with, as well as we’ll help you locate that missing observation team. Is there any new information that has come to light recently or is that all that you and your crew know at this stage?”

~Freja Andreassen~

Captain Sherman looked shocked when she indicated that he and the Crew of the Fitzgerald were supposed to help in locating the team. “I think there is a slight misunderstanding here, we are not capable of finding the team, nor do we have the time I have a schedule to keep. We are a simple Civilian freighter crew, your Starfleet crew would be better at finding the team than we would! not to mention we would simply get in your way.”

Once she responded he continued “However as to our technical issues, to be honest, Captain This old girl just needs to be put into drydock for an overhaul. she has been overdue for it for a couple of months now. We stayed out a little late getting in a few last runs before our season ends. Our transporters are down, and we have a few other systems that are having minor issues. however our Engineering crews are working on the issues, we have our Warp drive, and Impulse drives fully functional. If you could take the supplies for the Observation team, we can give you the beam down coordinates, and then limp our happy little backsides to drydock. While you can start your investigation.” he said

GMT Phoenix

“Very well,” Freja responded, “If you do require assistance, we are prepared to render it, just so you know. Otherwise, we will await the transfer of the Observation team supplies and transmission of the beam down coordinates so that we may try and figure out what happened to them.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“Well as I said Our Transporters are offline we cant beam anything to you. You are going to have to beam them out of our holds and onto your own ship it’s the only cargo we have left in our Main Cargo holds right now. I am having my communications officer transmit the location of the teams base to you right now as well” he said clearly eager to get back underway “I wish you Good Luck Chimera there is something off about this system I have not felt right about being here…and I am happy to be leaving soon”

The Operations officer then spoke up “Captain I have a lock on the supplies and I can beam them to our Cargohold whenever you want.” she reported eagerly

GMT Phoenix

“Before you do that do a scan for anything else in that supplies that is abnormal.” Braxton spoke quietly to the Captain “just an added security measure Captain. I don’t want anything on this ship without us knowing everything about it Sir.”

Harris, XO

“Of course,” Freja nodded.

Koria made it up to the bridge shortly before the Fitzgerald signed off. Waving to the Ensign at the engineering station to keep his seat, she walked up towards the sensor stations in the center of the room. “So what kind of work are my teams looking at to get the Fitzgerald up and running again?” Koria asked to no one in particular. Stepping up to one of the stations, she brought up a readout of the scans of the Fitzgerald.

It had taken about 15 minutes for Lunan to get used to his new facial accoutrements, but he knew it was for the benefit of science and… ‘adventure’. Human explorers of old were really starting to get to him, “Captain,” he said addressing Andreassen, “How do I look?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

SAFETY BUMP

-Kieron-

“Like you’re going on an adventure Lieutenant,” Freja remarked with a slight smirk.

~Freja Andreassen~

When Andreassen turned her back, Lunan rolled his eyes, “When do you need the first team to beam down, do I have time to prepare a xenobiological research kit?” He moved to the Science Console at the back of the Bridge, holding a hand hopefully over the computer interface.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Andrew walked onto the bridge, duly prepared for landing. He had chosen orange from the range of skin tones offered, and and hoped he would blend in. He nodded to Lunan, knowing that it was quite the process to end up this way.
