Adrenaline sang in his veins the moment he materialized, and Kohr took a steadying breath to temper it. Leaning on his walking stick a bit, he peered into every nook and shadow ready to strike. It had been the most practical arrival site, secluded and turned away from the casual observer. The small space had likely been meant for refuse storage or to give the occupants a bit of privacy, but with the way the buildings jumbled together it was difficult to say. Taking a swig from his jug and letting a few drops soak into his clothes, Kohr used his unfamiliar gait to shamble from the alley in search of his crewmates.
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

He would find the Transporter chief had actually set him right next to the building the team was now preparing to investigate so he was already with his team

an NE security officer took up a place by the door freeing the team to investigate fully Now it was just a matter of searching the rooms in this building

GMT Phoenix

“Let’s see what we can find,” NE Strong cautiously headed down the hallway, keeping track of the position of every door, switch and the like as she walked, looking for something out of place.

~NE Strong~

Kohr assisted in the cursory search of the building, specifically any leftover documents that might have been coded. The Klingon half expected to find signs of a struggle or hasty exit, though that would have been too easy. He muttered half to himself, half to the rest of the away team, as he did so.

“It is… unusual for a Starfleet observation team to simply vanish, though given the sensor readings from orbit it might be possible.” He made a wry face as he poked about. “The questions becomes where did they maintain the records of their mission—that may give us a direction, a… lead, I believe the expression is. Do we have any idea whether or not they were last seen here?”
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

NE Torvalds started looking at the items on the shelves, trying to assess if any of them were mechanical in nature. Clearly, the society here had never discovered electricity, but had managed an industrial age equivalent with other means of powering their devices. He was curious as to what the locals considered “archaeology” and what might have been closer to an antique, if only by way of technological advancement.

NE Torvalds, Engineering

The Mar’zek had an early understanding of electricity yet had yet to begin harnessing it As the party began to search the building in detail there was the main room with the shelves of artifacts and antiques a counter for doing commerce and what looked like an early cash register of a sort the counter had glass in its top and front displaying more objects they would find a room that was a bedroom with four beds a Kitchen and eating area and some kind of workshop that looked like it was set up to clean restore and prepare Artifacts and Antiques for sale there was also a bathroom finally there was a door that was locked if this were a shop on earth this might lead to the backroom

GMT Phoenix

Some of the artifacts in the main room drew Lunan’s attention, “Hmm, these metals are fascinating.”
-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“There will be time for metallurgical analysis later, Lieutenant,” Kohr murmured as he moved to investigate the lock, being careful not to disturb the site. He knew all too well from experience that in situations such as they faced, anything could be a clue—even the lack thereof. “Our priority is the recovery of the observation team and the reason behind the Mar’zek’s sudden burst in technology. If you feel it is relevant to the mission, take scans for study as we go.”
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

As Kohr examined the lock he would find it was a very early internal door type lock one that did have a key the keyhole however one was capable of looking through the keyhole next to the door was a chair that looked well used at this point however it also did not look as if there were any signs of the door being forced open on the regular so the Observation team might have a key for the said door it had to be somewhere around the shop

GMT Phoenix

NE Strong observed the XO looking at the lock, “Should we see if we have a key hiding around here for that door sir?” She asked.

Kohr looked up slowly from his crouch, his expression difficult to read. After a moment, he nodded. “Indeed, though if necessary it should not be difficult to force the door.”

Lunan had not known Commander Kohr for long, so felt initially slighted by the instruction, but realised that the Chimera‘s new XO was right regardless, “I’ll scan some of these metals and see if they correspond to some of the components used in that lock.” Farrah’s Bajoran earring seemed to twitch as he let his true scientist come out for the first time, tricorder in hand, analytical scan underway.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

Standing carefully and turning his attention back to the main room of the shop, Kohr’s drank in the scene. Nothing appeared out of place to him, nor hastily arranged. Furniture was in good repair, if worn, and right where he would have expected it to be. Papers were stacked neatly, books tucked on shelves, and artifacts laid about as if expecting an attentive audience at any moment. Even the locked door spoke of thoughtful care, and that tugged at his mind in its own benign way. While he did not wish to make hasty assumptions, it all felt too… normal.

“I do not believe this is where they disappeared,” he growled to himself. Then he turned thoughtfully to Lunan, moving to impose himself between the man’s tricorder and the door to the street. “Can we perhaps calibrate our scans to track them? DNA? Chemicals? Even pheromones?”
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

as Lieutenant Farrah started to scan suddenly all the objects and furniture that had that type of metal in its construction began to vibrate and produce different pitches of noise depending on the object and the proximity of the Tricorder For Kohr he would hear the lock on the door vibrating and making a noise as well it seemed parts of the lock were made of the same metal If Farrah could get the frequency that the lock vibrated at they could scan for that frequency itself and possibly find the key very quickly that is if the key is in range! though once he got the frequency from the lock he would have to back away from the Lock in order to find it

GMT Phoenix

Kohr nodded and carefully moved about the small shop, starting with the most obvious locations for one to casually store a key: drawers, pegs, cubby holes, and the like. As he worked, something else gnawed at the base of his skull as he considered the vibration and its cause; if the observation team had experienced a similar incident at an inopportune time, it might explain their disappearance. Whatever metal it was that resonated with an aspect of their scans, it was an obstacle they would need to overcome in order to continue with their search. Having a kind of “technology alarm” would certainly hamper their efforts unless they managed to circumvent them.

“Once we have the key, we should determine what about our equipment resonates with the local metal,” he explained aloud. “If we cannot use our scanners without causing this… issue, it will be all the more challenging to find the missing team. I would prefer to maintain effectiveness while maintaining our cover if at all possible.”
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

The humming began to irritate Torvalds’ hearing apparatus - not quite painful, but notable enough to be an annoyance, partly because the sound was resonating in all six of his nasal cavities. Torvalds found itcurious that the metals here would have harmonic resonance when interacting with their scanning technology. It was unusual, to be sure.

“I would appreciate if you could accelerate your process,” NE Torvalds said. “This is causing me some physical discomfort.”

NE Torvalds, Engineering

“Now you have my attention,” Lunan mumbled to himself, “Commander Kohr, keep your ears open sir, we need to find a key that matches the decibel frequency of the door. Ensign Torvalds, I would recommend temporarily deactivating your hearing apparatus until we have opened the door. I will signal you when the job is done.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“It’s rather interesting, if I weren’t so concerned with maintaining my cover, the phenomenon would be interesting to investigate further,” NE Strong commented softly, she continued to look around for anything that might be useful toward their main mission goal of finding the observation team.

~NE Strong~

OOC So Just a quick Update any scans that the ship Conducted will have detected its class M and just about all the lifeforms however something is masking the Lifeforms of the Observation team and that masking can not be pinpointed

Lieutenant Farrah manages to get the frequency quite easily and if he takes a closer look at the scan he would find that as long as they do low power scans it should not activate any more of this type of metal Once the Frequency has been isolated It seems that the only other source is coming form the Cash Register

GMT Phoenix

Lunan stepped over to the strange machine on the desk and recognised it as a cash register, an old currency storage device from Earth’s 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries, “The other source is coming from this machine; if Starfleet has taught me anything about human history, it should open like this,” Lunan pulled a lever on the side of the machine and waited to see what happened.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

The Drawer popped open and the drawer was in fact segmented for cash handling the sound seemed to be coming from under the Drawer which could obviously be lifted out under which they would find a ring of keys one of which was Vibrating fearcly giving them the key they needed to access the locked room

GMT Phoenix

Ensign Lane Alworth materialized in the middle of what appeared to be some type of mercantile establishment. It took him a moment to acclimate to the lighting and the fact that this body didn’t quite respond the same way he was used to.

“Who are you?”

“I’m one of Chimera’s physicians, Ensign Lane Alworth,” he said. Even his mouth felt wrong. “Modifications to Dr. LeDoux were simply impractical so I’m taking his place.”

“Impractical?”

“Adding nearly 20% to his height sounds impractical to me,” Alworth said. “What is this place?”

Kohr froze, glancing at the newly-arrived ensign with a mixture of chagrin and bafflement. Why were crewmen being beamed down without proper briefing? He would make it a point to address this with the command staff after the mission, assuming they didn’t befall the same fate as the missing observation team. The Klingon’s instincts told him this was not where they had disappeared from—it was too orderly, too mundane. But without any other leads they were stuck hunting in circles.

Seeing that the mystery behind the door was about to be solved, Kohr instead continued to look for any records the team might have left behind.
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

“Commander,” Lunan called to Kohr, “I believe this key is the one we need to get that door open,” the CSO held out the key with the vibrating frequency to the Klingon with a determined look on his face.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

The key did infact open the door inside they would find Federation boxes cots computers and other things this belonged to the Observation team which was why the door was clearly locked and guarded they might be able to find a log on the computer though there were clear signs that the Power Cells which were being used to provide power to everything needed to be changed soon because they were running dry Luckily the supplies that the Chimera had beamed over from the SS Edmund Fitzgerald contained the fresh power cells all they would need to do is call up to the Chimera and order the supplies beamed into this room

GMT Phoenix

“Seems like a bizzare cache of supplies to leave behind,” Lunan noted, immediately making a beeline for the nearest computer console, before turning to the XO, “If you’ll permit me Commander, I can see if I can access any of the Observation Team’s logs?”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-
