OOC So Just a quick Update any scans that the ship Conducted will have detected its class M and just about all the lifeforms however something is masking the Lifeforms of the Observation team and that masking can not be pinpointed

Lieutenant Farrah manages to get the frequency quite easily and if he takes a closer look at the scan he would find that as long as they do low power scans it should not activate any more of this type of metal Once the Frequency has been isolated It seems that the only other source is coming form the Cash Register

GMT Phoenix

Lunan stepped over to the strange machine on the desk and recognised it as a cash register, an old currency storage device from Earth’s 19th, 20th and 21st Centuries, “The other source is coming from this machine; if Starfleet has taught me anything about human history, it should open like this,” Lunan pulled a lever on the side of the machine and waited to see what happened.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

The Drawer popped open and the drawer was in fact segmented for cash handling the sound seemed to be coming from under the Drawer which could obviously be lifted out under which they would find a ring of keys one of which was Vibrating fearcly giving them the key they needed to access the locked room

GMT Phoenix

Ensign Lane Alworth materialized in the middle of what appeared to be some type of mercantile establishment. It took him a moment to acclimate to the lighting and the fact that this body didn’t quite respond the same way he was used to.

“Who are you?”

“I’m one of Chimera’s physicians, Ensign Lane Alworth,” he said. Even his mouth felt wrong. “Modifications to Dr. LeDoux were simply impractical so I’m taking his place.”

“Impractical?”

“Adding nearly 20% to his height sounds impractical to me,” Alworth said. “What is this place?”

Kohr froze, glancing at the newly-arrived ensign with a mixture of chagrin and bafflement. Why were crewmen being beamed down without proper briefing? He would make it a point to address this with the command staff after the mission, assuming they didn’t befall the same fate as the missing observation team. The Klingon’s instincts told him this was not where they had disappeared from—it was too orderly, too mundane. But without any other leads they were stuck hunting in circles.

Seeing that the mystery behind the door was about to be solved, Kohr instead continued to look for any records the team might have left behind.
—Kohr, Executive Officer—

“Commander,” Lunan called to Kohr, “I believe this key is the one we need to get that door open,” the CSO held out the key with the vibrating frequency to the Klingon with a determined look on his face.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

The key did infact open the door inside they would find Federation boxes cots computers and other things this belonged to the Observation team which was why the door was clearly locked and guarded they might be able to find a log on the computer though there were clear signs that the Power Cells which were being used to provide power to everything needed to be changed soon because they were running dry Luckily the supplies that the Chimera had beamed over from the SS Edmund Fitzgerald contained the fresh power cells all they would need to do is call up to the Chimera and order the supplies beamed into this room

GMT Phoenix

Torvalds recognized that the scans were done, and stepped back into the room. He already disliked that he was wearing specially shaped hearing devices on the sides of his head. The fact that the frequency from the exotic material caused them to harm his actual aural receptors, even minimally, was going to problematic if it continued to occur.

“Seems like a bizzare cache of supplies to leave behind,” Lunan noted, immediately making a beeline for the nearest computer console, before turning to the XO, “If you’ll permit me Commander, I can see if I can access any of the Observation Team’s logs?”

Kohr nodded. “Proceed.”

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

“You might leave all this behind if you had to bug out in a hurry.” Andrew said. “Or if it didn’t seem possible to come retrieve it.”

-Maj. Knox

“The more I look around,” the Klingon-turned-Mar’zek noted in a thoughtful baritone, “the more I am disinclined to believe this was where the observation team met their fate. This seems too everyday for something unexpected to have occurred. No signs of struggle or distress, and even an ambush is unlikely considering the equipment is still intact. Nigh-dead power cells concern me, however, as it suggests they have been gone for some time. Is there a time stamp on their last log access, Lieutenant?”

IC The computers had enough power at the moment to keep files in active memory however The Away team would have to beam down the Supplies from the Chimera which had come originally the Fitzgerald would have dropped off had the Fitzgeralds transporters been working when the cargo ship had arrived and they would need to change out the Power Cells so the computers had more power to call up any data that might be stored

GMT Phoenix

“It looks as if the computers are operating on minimal power.” said the counselor as she craned her neck and peered over the CSO’s shoulder. “We are going to need those power cells that were beamed over from the Fitzgerald, else we will not be working very long before these devices completely lose power.” LaKeitah paused for a moment and tried to see if she could sense any type of lifeforms, especially from the Observation Team and she couldn’t. She then looked at the commander and said, “I will notify the Chimera and have them beamed down, =^= Naisyr to the Chimera. We are going to need you to beam down those power cells from the Fitzgerald to our current location so we can attempt to access the Observations Team’s Logs. Can I get an ETA?=^=

Naisyr, Counselor
OOC: Hellooo guys! I am so glad to be here. I quickly read the thread and I am just jumping in like I have always been here.

Torvalds noted the exchange. It was likely that his skills would be needed soon, even if was just a matter of equipment upkeep and data access.

Alworth was performing scans in the kitchen portion of the building focusing on leftover food. One sample in particular caught his attention.

“Based on the spoilage level of this, I would estimate that the occupants have been gone for at least three days and no more than two weeks,” he said.

It’s like they took a break and never returned, LaKeitah thought to herself as she organized all the facts in her mind, The door to this room had been locked, key left behind, no sign of forced entry, there didn’t appear to be a struggle, the devices were still functional and had some remaining power, and there is food that has recently spoiled. Then she said out loud “Is it possible the Mar’Tek became suspicious, detained them, and they went without incident to maintain their cover? If they were able to make contact with us I am sure they would have done so. What if they are being held somewhere or....worse. It seems they knew it was a possibility they could go missing. They developed protocol for it and that is why we are here.” She looked around and thought, There must be something here to help us locate them or figure out what happened to them.

Naisyr, Counselor

Lunan nodded to Kohr and started looking around for anything that resembled a computer terminal.

-Lieutenant Lunan Farrah: Chief Science Officer-

OOC I did not give any info about food being left Rotting or anything like that nor did I specify how long the Away team has been gone! Please do not add details that I do not express myself Also I have already Specified that there is a Computer Terminal set up on one side of the Room It needs the Power Cells which were part of the Supplies that The Chimera Beamed Off the SS Edmond Fitzgerald

IC Within moments the Chimera beamed down the Power cells now all they needed to do was change out the power cells a simple procedure that even a cadet could pull off with no problem the trick is not to disconnect all of the spend power cells all at once basically trading them off one at a time

GMT Phoenix

OOC: Our bad! Need to keep a keen eye on this thread where we can y’all!

Lunan breathed a sigh of relief and tapped his combadge, “=^= Lunan to Chimera, the power cells are down and safe. =^=” The Bajoran turned quickly to Ensign Torvalds with an arched eyebrow, “Ensign, get these power cells swapped over as soon as possible, the sooner we get everything in here up and running, the sooner we can work out what the hell is going on down here.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Torvalds nodded. “Understood, Commander,” was his only reply before he got to work.

The counselor went over to assist the Ensign. She assessed how the current power cells were attached to the terminals and said, “It’s probably best we do not disconnect all the power cells all at once. Let’s switch them out one at a time. Don’t you agree?”

Naisyr, Counselor

Torvalds was a little confused as to why a Medical professional was taking point on a technological task. However, as Naisyr outranked him, he was not going to begrudge the help.

Keitah sensed Torvald’s confusion, slightly, and said, “Don’t be so narrow minded, Torvalds, just because I am a Counselor does not mean that I have absolutely no technological training. It’s essentially the same as a male assuming a female may be weaker than he is and underestimating her. Besides to change out these power cells is relatively a simple procedure that even a first year cadet could pull off with no problem.”

“I was planning on exchanging the current secondary supply first, and then using the current primary cell as a throughput to the computer” Torvalds said. “It strikes me as more efficient, and allows the other power cells to be held in reserve.”

She nodded and placed one hand out in the direction of the power cells to indicate he was lead on the task and she was just there to assist him.

“I’ll see if I can get anything from the crew’s logs,” Lunan said, tapping a control on the terminal.

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Naisyr, Counselor

Lunan saw that tapping an activation control didn’t seem to reveal much about the crew’s situation, “Computer, play most recent log entry.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

OOC: Will this thread still go on outside of the Post Mission thread?

-Kieron-

OOC: I believe so, we still haven’t solved the mystery of the missing observation team.

~Mika

OOC: Ok cool!

-Kieron-

The sooner they found something the better. Keitah could not wait to get out of the abandoned room and out of the green Mar’zek disguise. She wondered how much longer it would hold up against her Betazoid DNA.
After assisting the engineer with the power cells, she took a stroll, not too far from the crew, around the room looking for anything else that may be a clue or of any use. There was a possibility that whatever had happened to the observation team could happen to them as well. She tried not to think about the fate they had encountered which ultimately led to their disappearance. In any case, it was the inability to sense what happened to them that bothered her the most.

Naisyr, Counselor

OOC Post coming tomorrow Working on it but dealing with some Writers block right now

KG

OOC: Take your time Kirt! Gotta let the artist work!

-Kieron-

The computer brings up the last recorded log on screen, the being that appears on the first one, looks like a Mar’Zek however the pictures from a Starfleet profile came up in the corner showing a Human woman with short black hair and being of Asian descent. The Mar’zek disguise for this woman has a skin color of Federation blue, with Seafoam Green stripes, and copper outlines her name is Lieutenant Alexis Shepard.

“The Mar’Zek are extremely warm and welcoming, just the other day Lady Nani brought us some food in the form of what I can only guess as a seafood casserole Dish. Luckily she could not stick around as we all can not eat the native food here.

When the first log entry began playing, Keitah made her way back to where the commander was and listened to it.

We have yet to find any evidence that the technological explosion is caused by an outside influence, however tech seems to keep advancing at a rapid pace the government has just tested early Jet Propulsion!… which did not come around for Humanity until the 1930s! We are also monitoring the growing situation concerning the Mar’Zek Town/City Ships. there are multiple attacks every day it seems, while before it was not unusual for rival clans to attack each other for fuel and population, it’s getting out of control! And the “Unspeakables” which is I guess the Mar’Zek Police force is starting to act in a very authoritarian way. Causing harm to those who are in dire need, it really hurts that I can not do anything about that due to the Prime Directive but they need to learn on their own.

The Archaeological cover is going well, and we are learning a lot The planet actually had a few more islands before however, some event caused the ice caps to melt and the ocean to rise. since the Mar’Zek were already a Nomadic species they adapted to the change well. from what we have found we think that it may have been some form of a Meteor strike. we are going on another Dig here shortly up north hopefully we will find out more evidence to support that. though we should be back for the Supply drop from the Edmond Fitzgerald, and the upload of our logs. we are heading out on the Nui’Cleesan see you all in a couple of weeks!”

“Hmmm, this log confirms they have been gone for at least two weeks. Do we know where they did their archaeological digs? That may be where we need to go next. Maybe it will give us clues as to what happened to them.”

The Next log came up and featured yet another member of Starfleet disguised as a Mar’Zek. this one was a Bajoran Male by the name of Krohi Kran, disguised as a Mustard Yellow Mar’Zek that had Red/Orange Spots The outermost edge of each spot was orange and would become red the closer to the center of the spot one would look.

“I do not like any of this! The rest of the team are taking the situation too lightly, we should have been rotated out a long time ago, not to mention this whole situation with the local’s ships being attacked! we should be staying put and not putting ourselves at risk of being discovered! finally, these damn disguises are so itchy!” he complained not much info there but he was listed as the Security so it was not surprising that he did not have a lot of info to offer.

He was right! The disguised were itchy. Keitah was glad that she wasn’t the only one who thought so.

the Final log shows two Mar’Zek one male one female both sky Blue skin Seafoam Green Tribal markings and copper outlines. however, under the disguises, it is shown to be a pair of Andorians a Husband and Wife team of Researchers Ikas Th’Chillass and Vryra Sh’Chillass however it was Vryra who spoke in the log.

“Ikas has discovered that the strange metal, we have observed that it reacts in extreme ways to sound! It’s why when we see the “Unspeakables” get into a combat stance they start stomping and chanting! not only is it an intimidation factor but also brings up the lethality of their weapons! the Mar’Zek do use the metal in other places I think in the case of door locks and keys so that someone can find the right key for the right lock! we also recommend that this metal be added to the Mar’Zek file so that when these people achieve warp capability it be a reason that we need to be on-site to welcome them to the community these people have a lot of potential not just for themselves but for the Federation as a whole!”

“Interesting,” said Keitah, “They have weapons that react solely to sound!” Her eyes swung over to the key they used to open the door. She wondered if the key was made from the same metal. Surely they would have to test it and see.

once the logs had finished, the away team would hear loud sirens blaring from outside, if the Away team wants to go check it out It would be a good idea to lock this door behind them as well as lock the shop up as well. until the Observation team is found, and either replaced with a new team or returned to this place to guard it. and make sure that the Mar’Zek don’t stumble on the Federation Tech.

“Uh oh! What’s that sound!” said Keitah alarmed.

the team would be able to look down into the port from the front of the shop. a ship was being towed in, and the shouts from locals were already indicating that it was the TS Nui’Cleesan. however, rushing by the shop on their way to secure the port was a large group of intimidating Mar’Zek they were a drab Grey in color though they had uniform Purple markings with Gold outlines. one that was walking down the street was shouting, “MOVE ALONG MOVE ALONG NOTHING TO SEE YOU REMAIN IN THE AREA OR COME OUT OF YOUR HOMES YOU WILL BE ARRESTED!” if the Team stuck around they would be in trouble! There was a loud hiss coming from an alleyway next to the shop The Away team would have just enough time to slip down it to hide if they wanted to.

GMT Phoenix

Keitah was about to exit the shop and go see what the commotion was about but when she peeked out of the front door of the shop she saw the grey Mar’Zek police shouting. She quickly ducked her head back in, ran to the room where the rest of the crew was, and said, “Ah…guys, maybe we should get out of here. We are going to have company real soon!

Naisyr, Counselor

Moving quickly, Lunan downloaded the logs onto a PaDD for later review, “We can’t beam anywhere without a risk of blowing our cover, I’d be open to suggestions?”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“The alleyway, if we move quickly and silently, we can probably find a place to hide,” NE Strong suggested.

~NE Strong~

NE Torvalds looked around. “Prime Directive. Seal the room with all Federation technology, and conceal the entrance if possible. Alternately, we can overload the power supply and destroy the contents of this room with minimal damage to the overall structure, although this would destroy all of the research the team has gathered on the Mar’zek which they have not shared.”
