There were few things going on with the ship that Freja didn’t know about. It was her training, her first fighter squadron CO had taught her that he always expected everyone to do their job, but that one needed to keep an eye out just in case things fell off. Pretty much ever since she came into department head roles, she put a priority on ensuring she knew everything about whatever was in her scope of responsibility, whether she needed to actively address something or just let things play out.

She had inwardly smirked when she learned her XO had gone down to greet the marine fighters, having served with Lt. Colonel Lardel on the Chimera before, she was pleased when the powers that be announced he’d be returning. It was good, she knew what to expect of him and his fighters, nothing but excellence.

It would be interesting to see what came of the meeting between the two men. While she was never a marine, she had flown fighters as part of strictly starfleet operations. There were stark differences, of course there were, but both marines and starfleet fighter pilots tended to dislike involvement from non-fighter personnel. The good ones were able to tolerate involvement to a point, but they definitely would assert their boundaries early and without filter.

It was something she felt her XO would need to learn on his own without her direct involvement, she would be available for advice when needed, but personnel management was something better learned by simply doing and learning from one’s own mistakes. So instead, she sat in her office, dusting off more paperwork and enjoying a caramel coffee.

~Freja Andreassen~

The computer chirped as in incoming text-only message arrived. It was from Lardel.

=/\=He’s. In. My. Office.=/\=

And then another a few seconds later.

=/\=He. Was. On. My. FLIGHT. DECK.=/\=

The last one had a small laughing face symbol behind it.

Lardel, CAG

Anyone walking by the CO’s Ready Room then probably heard the cackle that left Freja’s mouth as soon as she read the message. At least she hadn’t been taking a drink of her coffee when she got the message, it would’ve been somewhat embarrassing to explain to the quartermaster why her computer terminal was coated in coffee.

=^=Hopefully he didn’t express an interest in learning to fly one of the fighters. Though if he did, I trust you’ll set him straight. Welcome back to the Chimera Lt. Colonel,=^= She typed a reply back, her shoulders still shaking a bit from laughter.

A personnel management, it could be both a challenging and amusing aspect of command.

After auditing the personnel files for the Chimera crew, Keitah noticed it had been some time since the CO had a mental evaluation and couldn’t help but wonder if it had been intentional. Nonetheless, the encounter should be interesting as Captain Andreassen was Betazoid herself. Grabbing her PaDD from her desk as she stood, Keitah wondered about Freja’s telepathy skills and if the session might be communicated telepathically. Duty calls. Time to attempt to pry into the personality of our CO. she thought as she headed for the exit.

After stepping off the tubolift onto the bridge, Keitah approached the Captains Ready Room. Before entering she paused for a quick listen. There was laughter coming from behind the door. A smile spread across her lips and she ranged the chime. “At least she seems to be in a great mood,” Keitah said out loud.

Naisyr, Counselor

Freja glanced up at the door chime, she wasn’t expecting anyone just yet, but perhaps whoever it was would temporarily give her a break from the paperwork.

“Come in,” She called.

~Freja Andreassen~

At that moment, the computer beeped again. Another text. =/\= Your XO needs a remedial lesson in rank structure, Captain. He called me Majorin front of my staff. As this is a Fleet matter, I’ll leave it to you to handle it.=/\= and then a brief pause before another message.

=/\= Good to be back. =/\=

Lardel, CAG

Sweet baby Jesus, Freja managed to not utter it out loud since she’d just invited whoever had chimed her door into her ready room. The thought definited bounced around in her brain though.

~Freja Andreassen~

OOC: That’s twice now me misreading a thread has turned into a funky character arc for my character, I promise it’s not deliberate xD

-Kieron-

OOC: Hey, I think its hysterical. Loving that dynamic!

James

Keitah walked in as the conversation went on. After a brief intermission she said to the Captain, “I am sorry for not notifying you ahead of time that I planned to stop by, but is this a bad time for you?”

Naisyr, Counselor

“No,” Freja replied, “It seems I have some time to spare, what can I do for your Counselor?”

~Freja Andreassen~

Keitah smiled and went to an open seat then sat. “Well Captain… I am here because I thought this would be a good time for your psych evaluation.”

She placed her pad on the desk, tapped the screen to wake it as she said, “First I want to say it’s an honor to serve under you, sir. You are the only Betazoid female Captain I have met, although I am sure there are others. I won’t ramble because I am sure you are far too busy for me to do so. Therefore I will just get to the point.” She clasped her hands infront of her on the desk, stared at the Captain a moment then said, “So Captain can you tell me the last time you had an evaluation?”

Naisyr, Counselor

OOC: Aw man! I was about to jump in on this, but it seems like this works better with just the two of you, I’m happy to start a fresh thread if you prefer?

-Kieron-

OOC: A separate thread will be lovely Kieron. :)

IC:

Freja thought back, mentally thinking, “Well, you’ve caught me Counselor, it has been a while. I suppose we can do that now.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“Great! I don’t want to assume anything but being Betazoid I would think you have at least emphatic abilities and possibly some telepathic ones as well? Believe me I know the difference between the two although they are often used incorrectly and interchangeably. If you are capable of either, we can continue our session using either one of those if you prefer?” Honestly Keitah wanted to test the efficiency and the strength of the Captain’s abilities.... if she possessed them.

Naisyr, Counselor

“I’m telepathic, not as strong as a full Betazoid, also I’m horribly out of practice,” Freja replied, “I wasn’t raised on Betazed, rather both my parents were officers so when I wasn’t with them, I was on Earth with my grandparents who were an admiral and a retired officer respectively. I tended to not focus on those abilities, mainly because people tended to get squirrely when you brought up something they thought about.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“Ah yes. I understand what you mean.” She said with an agreeable nodded. “Well we shall conduct this session like non Betazed’s then and I absolutely do not use my telepathic abilities unless there is an urgent need to. I understand how people are about their minds and their thoughts and best practice ensures that I do not trespass into any mind.” She looked around for a replicator, “Do you mind if I fix myself a cup of before we get started?”

“I’d like to start with your vision for the this ship. What yould you like to accomplish as Captain of the Chimera and how do you intend to do it?”

Naisyr, Counselor

“Of course, help yourself to my replicator,” Freja gestured to the device in its corner.

Freja leaned back at the vision question, giving it some thought, “As perhaps predictable as it sounds, I do firmly believe in the tenets of the Federation and my goal with the Chimera is to ensure that this ship is doing what it can to…adhere to those tenets, as well as we can, given the ship is a tactical marvel versus a ship more build exclusively to exploration. I suppose I intend to accomplish that goal by ensuring that each department runs smoothly and cohesively with the rest of the departments.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“Yes, of course. So you seem to be someone who likes put together a high performing team, then you let them do what they do best. Which I personally appreciate because having someone stand over me or check on me frequently would just drive me away.” She walked over to the replicator and began to fix a cup of tea. “Can I get you something?” she asked before she got to her next question.

“You say you have been out of practice when it comes to using your abilitiy. Do you miss it or do you find it easier to function without it? As a Betazed you know our ability engrained in us, you know like a sixth sense. I am just curious how you function with it?”

Naisyr, Counselor
