Lunan had not really had chance to sit down with Captain Andreassen to discuss how he was getting on as XO since his promotion, so he thought now would be a good time to take matters into his own hands. Lunan was glad to still have the chance to undertake scientific missions of his own; particularly having set up a small labratory space in his new First Officer’s quarters. Until now, Command had not really been on the Bajoran man’s radar, at least not when he joined Starfleet initially. Sure, he thought, it would have had to have happened eventually, especially considering how quickly the Chimera seemed to be going through crew members at the moment.

Giving command of the Bridge to Ensign K’Vana, the Bolian tactical lead on Beta Shift, Lunan crossed to his Captain’s Ready Room and tapped the control, waiting for the command to enter.

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“Come,” Freja called, glacing up from her paperwork.

Lunan took a second before crossing the threshold, “Morning Captain, do you have a few minutes? I realised earlier today that we haven’t had chance to sit down and talk since I became XO.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“Sure, have a seat,” Freja gestured to an empty chair.

Lunan gave a curt nod and took the seat, “I suppose I’d better get straight to the point, how do you think I’m doing as XO thus far, aside from misranking some of our marines.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“Marines are a bit of a different animal to be sure,” Freja leaned back in her chair, “Perhaps I should have prepared you a bit better. If it makes you feel any better, I’ve witnessed officers of my rank and higher make similar errors, perhaps even far more grievous ones.”

“I think the important thing to remember that while marines are on our ship, they have their own set of rules and disciplines,” Freja spoke, “I generally keep to the rule of so long as the CAG doesn’t tell me how to run a ship, I won’t tell him or her how to run a fighter squadron operating on my ship.”

“As for your performance, I believe you are doing quite well. I certainly stumbled from time to time when I first got that rank and position. I think everyone does and that its more important that you don’t let minor missteps shake you. It sets you on a good course of resilience for when you make bigger missteps as a captain.” She joked lightly.

Lunan chuckled, “You certainly hide it well, ma’am. I think I need to start making notes at our senior staff meetings, just so I don’t demote an officer by accident.” Ge paused for a moment, then added, “Though I must admit, since our recent First Contact mission, I’ve been glad of a more relaxed pace, it has allowed me to keep up with some of my scientific ventures.”

-Lunan Farrah-

“Making notes sounds like a good idea, I know when I was made it to first officer, I did reflect on each day for a period of time, just to make sure I had my head around it,” Freja explained, “It was a bit of a different switch from running a department or a fighter squadron. Enjoy the relaxed pace while it lasts, I’m sure we’ll be called up any day now. Especially now that our marine fighters are onboard.”

~Freja Andreassen~

“You know me Captain,” Lunan said with a grin, “I rise to any challenge.”

-Lunan Farrah-
