Lardep didn’t wait. He tapped his communicator and said =/\= Iris, prep all transports for launch. Looks like the cree may need some Marine backup on the ground.. Oni, get the birds ready for transport cover operations and get my bird on the line for launch. I’m on my way. =/\= Lardel then contacted the Marine Infantry bay. =/\= Prep for rapid deployment. This is not a drill. All ground units prepare for transport and report to the flight line. =/\= and then he nodded at the Captain. “Better to have us and not need us than to need us and not have us.” and the Zakdorn CAG turned and headed to the turbo lift and the flight deck.

Lardel, CAG

The response was immediate and crisp. =/\=Aye Colonel. Prepping for launch.=/\= Before the comm completely cut off they could hear sh’Rharror bark out

“Delta Sqd prep for launch!” Siraa checked the board that linked call out with the Marine Infantry Bay. “4 transports. 2 to launch, 2 on standby! Casper, Banshee suit up! Medusa, Fang you’re on standby.” Siraa watched as transports 1, 5, 6 and 13 were brought up from the hanger bay. She reached to the hook inside her office door and antenna waving about to adjust as she pulled her helmet on. She grabbed hold of the ladder railing and slid down to the flight deck.

Mar Cpt sh’Rharror, Delta Sqdn Ldr

Freja nodded at Lardel, “Do what you can to avoid interfering with the natrual progression of these people, remember they don’t know aliens exist yet. We might be past the prime directive at this point, but keep in the back of your head as you head down. Safety of the away team is first priority though.”

~Freja Andreassen~

=/\=Roger that Colonel.=/\= Oni got up from his desk and ran out to the line while hearing Iris bark her orders he barked his as well. “Alpha and Bravo Squads Suit up and get the Birds up and running for cover operations of the transports! Colonel Lardel’s crew, get his plane up and running as well! This is not a drill! Let’s move people!” With that said, Oni climbed up into his plane and got it up and running.

Major Shinzo “Oni” Honda, Bravo Squad Leader

The CAG appeared in his flight uniform at the same time the personnel doors opened and six fire teams of armed and armored Federation Marines moved into the flight deck. Hannibal looked and shouted “MARINES ON ME!” and the infantry troops ran and fell into formation. Hannibal stood in front of them and said “Listen up Marines. We have a Fleet away team in a hostile situation. This is a rescue mission first and foremost. The mission is get them out asap. There’s a wrinkle, though. This planet is inhabited by a pre-warp civilization. First contact protocols are in effect. You know what that means.” A large Orion in armor and wearing the insignia of the Marine Force Reconnaissance said “Yes sir! Swift silent and deadly, sir!” Hannibal nodded once and said “Thats right. But we are the trespassers here… mission objective is zero body count if possible. But priority is we get our people home. Copy?” The Marines shouted in unison in a cry that echoed through the entire ship.”OOH-RAH!!!” Hannibal nodded and yelled “Then get inbyoud sticks and let’s go. MOVE OUT!” and the Marines began running to the transports.

“Squadron leaders on me!” Hannibal yelled as he ran to his fighter and climbed the ladder. In a matter of moments, the jet black fighter was shot out of the carrier and the rescue was under way.

Lardel, CAG

Oni kept his helmet in his fighter because he knows he would forget the darn thing eventually. Strapping it on and pressing the com switch. =/\= Bravo Squad! We will be providing cover support for the transports! This is a pre-warp era planet but that does not mean they are without surprises. Keep an eye out. Fighters 1,2,5,6,9 will be with me and the transports. Fighters 3 and 4 will go North to scout, 7 and 8 to the East, 10 and 11 to the South and 12 to the East. Go about 15 AU and hold and scan. Let’s go!”
Then Bravo Squad shot out when it was their turn to leave the hanger.

Climbing into her fighter, IRIS paused once for visual confirmation from the transport aviators and then she was strapping into the seat and sealing the hatch. She grinned like a mad woman. This was what life was all about. She loved the adrenaline rush, but never let it take over. She waited for Oni to pass the bay doors and then her glacial blue fighter shot out into the black. She banked sharply coming to a stop with 3 other fighters of Hannibal’s elite alpha squadron and waited for the transports to launch.

=/\=Delta leader, Casper, Transport 1 in position=/\=
=/\=Delta leader, Banshee, Transport 5 in position=/\=

=/\=Delta squad stand by.=/\=

Siraa opened a channel to Hannibal. =/\=Delta squad in position, Colonel.=/\=

=/\=We have contact coordinates?=/\=

=/\= Hannibal, Bravo Squad is in position and maintaining proper covering distance with the transports.=/\=

<snipping OOC comments after speaking with GMT>

Once the fighters and transports were formed up, Hannibal’s voice came over the group’s comms =/\= Black Sheep, on me. Lets go get our people. =/\= The CAG engaged his thrusters to full and made for the planet. As the began to streak their way towards the giant orb, Hannibal keyed his comms. =/\= Black Sheep Leader to Away Team. Commander Farrah, come in. This is Colonel Lardel. Come in, Commander. We are en route to your location for extraction. Can I get a sit rep, Commander? Again. Lardel to Farrah. Request Situation Report =/\=

Lardel, CAG

OOC: Pasting in XO response.

=^= Lunan here, Black Sheep Leader. We are in a cave hiding from the forces of a dictator on this world known as ‘The Commandant’. Though a rescue would be appreciated, you are aware that any more of you coming down here would be in direct breach of the Prime Directive? =^=

XO

Before Lardel could find a way to respond diplomatically and say that the XO was going to have to take that up with the Captain, another message came through.

Lardel

=^= Black Sheep Leader, this is Commander Farrah, disregard my last, lock on to my combadge signal and route a flight path, and Major, bring weapons, you’ll need them.=^=

Lardel pulled up a displY of the planet and the Away team’s position. They were on a ship moving across the water at high speed… but not near as fast as the fighters. Lardel grinned. =/\= Black Sheep, Away Team is in a no-go for extraction at present time. But that doesn’t mean we can’t assist. And without violating Fleet’s ever so precious Prime Directive. Patching in all Squadron Leaders to my comms. =/\= He switched frequencies and replied to the XO.

=/\= AwayTeam. Black Sheep leader. We are coming to your location. Be advised, we have an escort plan. Tell your ship to maintain heading and speed. Black Sheep will circle your vessel low and fast. Very low and fast. We will disrupt surface of the water to the point you will be surrounded by enough spray to block visual identification and-or the radar they seem to have. They won’t see us. They won’t see you, either. Stand by for a shower, Away Team. =/\=

Lardel, CAG

=^=Andreassen to Lardel, we’re picking up a meteor shower about to hit the Atmosphere, you might be able to use it to disguise your descent if needed,=^= The Captain’s voice sounded through the comm system.

~Freja Andreassen~

OOC: Cross posted from bridge thread. :)

Of course the counselor was delighted to hear the news that their rescue was underway. She couldn’t wait to get out of the Mar’zek disguise.

Naisyr, Counselor

Lardel’s sensors picked up the small-ish objects at that same time, as well as the other ships in the same area as the 9ne the Away Team was on. He scowled for a few brief moments and then keyed his comms. =/\= Black Sheep Leader to Black Sheep Squadron. We have unknowns closing in on the Away Team. Intent unknown. Prime Directive is still in effect. We will not- I repeat not - be converging on Away Teams location. Instead, we are going to give the new arrivals cause to change course away from the Away Team’s ship. Scanners indicate and Chimera confirms a number of small objects about to enter the planet’s atmosphere. We are gonna join ‘em. Set shields to full strength and override computer calculations for planetary entry. We will be coming in fast, bright, and really hot. The Black Sheep are about to become our own meteor shower. Once we are below three thousand meters, alter course and maintain twenty meters above surface. IRIS, take your flight ninety degrees starboard from Away team and draw off those vessels. Oni, you go port. Kick up as much water as you can. Phasers on the water will generate steam and give their lookouts something pretty to focus on instead of the ship, and give us cover. They can’t pick us up with their tech, but they can still see us. So don’t let ‘em. Black Sheep, form up on me and prep for fast drop. =/\=

Lardel then keyed comms for the XO. =/\= Unknown ships converging on you. Maintain course and speed. We’ll draw them off. =/\=

Lardel, CAG

OOC: Sorry about all the broken responses on here, I’ll do my best to improve once everyone is back!

-Kieron-

IRIS switched her comms over, =/\=IRIS to Delta squad, hold position in synchronis orbit with your escorts. Your shuttles aren’t made for this.=/\=

Siraa’s fingers slid across her display bringing shields to maximum and switched over ro manual control with a wicked grin highlighted on her face by the HUD. She adjusted her flight tajecrory and input her override as she waited for the quick conformation from the two transports.

She switched her comms back, =/\=Delta Squad Ldr to Black Sheep Leader. Transports holding in orbit. In position and prepped for fast drop.=/\= The comms didn’t quite mute fast enough to hide the excitement in her voice. She took the mission quite seriously, but she lived for this. She checked her display for the incoming meteors, their trajectory in relation to the away team and her path 90° starboard and mentally plotted her course.

Mar Cpt sh’Rharror, Delta SQLD

=/\=Roger that Black Sheep Leader.=/\= He then switched to his squadron comm. =/\=Bravo Squad once we are in we will take the Port side and draw off the enemy fighters, do not engage them unless necessary.=/\=

Shinzo “Oni” Honda, Bravo Squad Leader

OOC Merging the captains post

Freja continued to monitor the progress until engineering took the sensors offline to prevent overloading.

There were times she missed being in the action, that was the one disadvantage of being the CO, she had to remain on the ship for the most part, watching her XO and other officers have fun on alien worlds.

It wasn’t all bad though, there were times on away missions where she didn’t have access to a replicator and couldn’t take care of her coffee addiction, so there was that.

~Freja Andreassen~

Most of the junk would burn up long before they approached the ground however the Fighters and shuttles would make a brilliant show if they were going to do this they would have to be very quick about getting into position

GMT Phoenix

Lardel brought the squadron into position behind the debris and celestial objects and began following them. Within minutes, the fighters were screaming into the atmosphere and glowing white hot. As the smaller and less durable objects disintegrated in the cataclysmic heat and stress, the fighters filled their section of sky with meteor-like brightness. Anyone from the ground seeing them would think a meteor storm was happening… until the ‘meteors’ suddenly changed course and split into separate groups as they approached the horizon line visible from the new vessels approaching the rebel ship.

=/\= Hannibal to Black Sheep! The deck for this op is ten meters. Make lots of noise and light, steam and waves. Once you confirm your targets are chasing you, keep them following for five minutes, then full speed out of sight and back to orbit. Confirm all wings. =/\=

Lardel, CAG

The objects in front of her disintegrated into nothing, but she was right there in its place as if she was the space debris. Her fighter was in a seemingly in free fall, using only minor thrusters to adjust her course if needed. No need to give themselves away until they were in position. In the confines of her fighter, with no comms active, IRIS whooped crazily as the ground rushed up to meet her, hands steady on the controls. She enjoyed this a little too much sometimes…not really…maybe. Confirmation came in from the rest of the wing. =/\=IRIS to Hannibal. Op confirmed.=/\= IRIS closed the comms and watched her display as the distance quickly closed in on her and at 3,000 meters her fighter rolled and banked subtly so her approach was at 90 degrees starboard. At the very last moment she pulled up on the controls, leveling out at 10 meters and rocketed towards their target. The fighters were hot and the thermal waves created steam from the disruption the speed and course change caused on the water. Using the wind breaking over the wings she adjusted the angle so the air whistled and whined over the fighter loudly and she fired into the water throwing up huge waves, water spray, and between the heat of the phaser and white hot outer hull there was steam galore.

Mar Cpt sh’Rharror, Delta SQLD

The light show put on by the fighters was seen for miles and sensors on the fighters now showed that the ships that had been approaching the Away teams position were all now moving towards the fighters and away from the ship the Away team was on there was now a solid path forward for the Away team but now The Fighter Pilots would have Locals searching for them the steam and wake the fighters were churning up definitely masked what the objects were however they would do well to avoid close visual contact with the Enemy ships otherwise they would break the Prime directive Time to start acting like Wild Geese and leading these locals on a chase

OOC: Fixing Split

IC:

=/\= Oni to Hannibal Roger that. =/\= Waiting until the last second as always, Oni pulled up and leveled his jet with the water and created the desire effect. Once they were all chasing him in his sector he waited for the time to run out before pulling up back to orbit.

Shinzo “Oni” Honda, Bravo Squad Leader

Hannibal, for his part, was creating a water and light show to rival that of the mega-resorts on Risa. And he was laughing the entire time. It was high-stakes flying, but only for the pilots. He monitored each fighter as they skimmed the surface and turned the water to steam everywhere they went. It was utter chaos… and it would look like nothing ever seen before.

After three minutes of flying just out of visual sight of their ‘pursuers’, Hannibal keyed his comms. =/\= Black Sheep, this is Hannibal. Full speed away and out of visual range of the ships and shore. =/\=

After another minute where he knew there was no danger of any of the natives seeing them, he then barked =/\= All wings, escape velocity and rendezvous at rally point! =/\= and he hit his thrusters and the jet black fighter suddenly and expertly went up at a ninety-degree angle from the ocean’s surface. In a matter of moments, the welcoming embrace of space wrapped the ship in it’s cold and empty arms.

Hannibal, CAG

The fighters soon climbed back into space luckily it seemed that no radar contact was ever picked up however now the Commandants ships were out of position and unable to stop the Rebels from getting to the island

GMT Phoenix

Shizo looked backed while he was climbing back into space, happy of the fun he had until he noticed something. Pressing the com: =/\= Oni to Hannibal. The Commandants ships are out of position and did not stop the rebels from getting to the island. What do you want us to do that won’t make Fleet Command mad? =/\=

Shinzo “Oni” Honda, Bravo Leader.

=/\= Nothing. =/\= came the reply form the CAG. =/\= Now we sit and watch. And wait for extraction if needed. And where the hell is IRIS? =/\= he said irritably.

Hannibal, CAG
