OOC: No worries at all Kirt! It’s probably my fault to for not reading in deeply! I’ll go forward from here doing a better job I promise.

Lunan finally took the decision to try and open a channel to the Chimera, “=^= Lunan to Chimera, do you copy? =^=”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

OOC Cross posting again

=^=Chimera here Commander, go ahead,=^= came the reply to the XO’s Comm call

GMT Phoenix

”=^= Chimera, we have made contact with the local people of this planet. Please inform the Captain that this society is very much a pre-warp civilisation. Specifically, they seem to run their lives based on the use of Steampunk construction methods, if she’s available, I need to speak with Captain Andreassen as soon as possible.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

=^=I’m here Commander, what’s up?=^= Freja’s voice came through on the comm call.

~Freja Andreassen~
At that moment another Mar’zek This one was Bright red came running up and Whispered something into Mal’i’s Ear her eyes went wide shouting orders in her native tongue other rebels began to rush about turning to the Away team she said “Come We have been found by the Commandants forces my men will hold them off for as long as they can we have to get to the escape boats Follow me We will hit the Commandants Island there is no more time for intelligence gathering!” she said as she ran to a tunnel waving the away team to follow her

GMT Phoenix

”=^= Stand by, Captain, we have a situation down here. =^=” Lunan closed the channel and shot off at a jog, following behind Mal’i’ into the tunnel.

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Keitah followed the Commander. Staying close behind him as they jogged through the tunnel. She certainly didn’t want to be captured again and definitely not by this Commandant force.

Naisyr, Counselor

Spartacus followed. It was time to move out again. He didn’t know exactly what they were doing. But, they were moving so he was going too.

“Do the Commandant’s forces know this area well?” The XO asked no particular rebel, clearly trying to keep both the Away Team and the rebels safe.

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“Well enough Come” Mel’i Said as she lead them on down the tunnel beside the away team was a squad of 11 Mar’Zek rebels

after a short time running they came out of the tunnel into a large natural cave inside this cave was a hidden bay where the rebels apparently kept a bunch of steamships all fired up and ready to head out to sea there were 4 of them roughly about 120 feet or 36.5 meters in length they had two square-rigged masts these had apparently been modified into steamships later having started their lives as sailing ships the masts and sail rigging was kept as an emergency backup on each of the ship’s sides were two large Paddlewheels

Mel’i ordered something and three of the 8 broke off hopping onto three of the boats “They will keep watch and will set the ships up for scuttling if the commandant’s forces breakthrough!” Mel’i Explained “In the event enough of my people show up to crew them they will flee to other safe houses,” she said as the other 8 hopped aboard one the name plate on the stern read Hinonga for the Starfleet officers in disguise there was something very comforting about that name and there was a bearing about the ship that felt Familiar in a way in fact the three Mar’zek seemed to smile knowing that the HInonga at least would live

the Mar’zek Rebels all raced about preparing the ship to leave

GMT Phoenix

Neidell

“Can we do anything to help prep the boats?” Lunan asked, taking a moment to find his balance.

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

This type of craft called a boat and sat on water was an ancient concept to Keitah. On her planet they had something of the sort but way more advanced. As she saw the general structure and watched them prep it, doubts in her mind began to rise about it’s safety. “They look really old,” she commented, “Are they safe and secure for travel?”

Naisyr, Counselor

Torvalds examined the vessels, not for style, but for material quality and any signs of degradation.

“Old to somebody from the Federation, yes, but the vessels seem to actually be of a recent construction. The materials all seem to be either kept well or manufactured recently enough to show no signs of decay. I can’t say much as to whether they are actually capable of leaving their docks - vessel design at the Academy is specifically centered around spacecraft and aerial vehicles - but it will not be directly because of hull failure.”

  • NE Torvalds

Ooc I have lost internet I this post maybe rough but it will be the best I can do on my phone until I get proper internet again so please bare with me I will come back and fix anything that needs fixing once I do get internet again

Ic

The ships actually did show their age they were old but in more recent times modified and maybe refitted these ships were similar to the square rigged brigs of Earth’s 18th and 19th centuries however they now had a smokestack that came up and out of the stern at the very rear of the vessel and there seemed to be armor plates added retroactively to the sides of the ship

Mal’I was shouting orders to her crew when the XO asked his question she turned and quickly hurded the away team to the back of the ship opening the door to the captains cabin she guided them in “No we know what we are doing you will unfortunately just be in our way sit tight here for now and don’t touch anything!” She said before leaving again

there was an assortment of personal furnishings a small bed a large chest a wardrobe and a large table the bed and table took up most of the room there was also a small fireplace which seemed to have been modified to accommodate the new smokestack for this things steam engines

scattered over the table was a collection of maps and such but nothing that would mean a thing for the away team all in all this captains cabin felt lived in and loved again the name of the ship was proudly displayed over the bed and on the starbord wall pictures of other older ships seemed to be set in a line almost as if it was telling of a lineage!

GMT Phoenix

Lunan turned to Keitah and whispered, “I know they said not to touch anything, but I wouldn’t mind getting a look at those maps, what do you think Counsellor?”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“Would they even make sense to us?” She waved her hand toward Mel’i, “We are essentially at her mercy if we ever want to make it back to the Chimera. Usually, I would be okay with that, relying on the natives to guide us. However, they are just so…primitive and outmanned and apparently outgunned.” She shook her head, “We are really going to ride in the old sea vehicles and use maps to navigate like 18th-century Earth pirates?” Keith knew that the only real hope they had was for the team of Marines aboard the Chimera to find and rescue them.

Naisyr, Counselor

Spartacus decided to enter the conversation. “Pirates had a quite sophisticated society for it’s time. They had a democratic command structure, equality of the sexes, and innovative combat tactics. You’re not give pirates the respect they deserve.”

Neidell

“Sure.” said Keitah as she made an annoyed glance at the man, “All I am saying is that we are probably not going to find anything useful from the maps. We are not familiar with this planet, nor the language, therefore the maps probably would not make much sense as we would not be able to fluently read the text. Furthermore, I do not care about the pirates’ society because surely we have advanced much further than them and I merely made the reference to imply that holding a piece of paper and trying to navigate our way across extraterrestrial waters on an archaic watercraft is risky.”
With her extraordinary memory, Keitah could remember the exact layout of the map if she saw it but still didn’t know how beneficial it would be to do so since she was not familiar with the text or symbols which would make the map legend hard to interpret and therefore somewhat useless.

Naisyr, Counselor

Suddenly the comms came to life. =/\= Black Sheep Leader to Away Team. Commander Farrah, come in. This is Colonel Lardel. Come in, Commander. We are en route to your location for extraction. Can I get a sit rep, Commander? Again. Lardel to Farrah. Request Situation Report =/\=

Lardel, CAG

Lunan blinked, taking a moment to realise who was speaking to him and then tapped his combadge, ” =^= Lunan here, Black Sheep Leader. We are in a cave hiding from the forces of a dictator on this world known as ‘The Commandant’. Though a rescue would be appreciated, you are aware that any more of you coming down here would be in direct breach of the Prime Directive? =^=”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Keitah’s heart sanked when heard that the Commander was possibly telling their rescue squad to leave them where they were, she quickly walked up to him. “Sir…Commander Farrah....respectfully, we have already violated the prime directive. She” she pointed to Mel’i, “saw our equipment and she knows we are not Mar’Zek, but aliens. Also she requested that we use our technology to assist her in her rebellion. She already knows and I doubt she will kept it a secret and take it to her grave.”

Naisyr, Counselor

OOC ok 1 Mel’i Locked you guys in you are all alone now she is busy steering the ship 2 even though yes Mel’i and a few rebels know the truth the situation can be controlled with how few know at the moment any more people coming down to the surface would make it harder to cover up

The crew would actually feel the ship moving as the dim light of the permanently Twilight world filled the windows they were underway and on route to where the missing Observation team might just be located

GMT Phoenix

Lunan sighed, “You’re right Counsellor,” he tapped his combadge again, “=^= Black Sheep Leader, this is Commander Farrah, disregard my last, lock on to my combadge signal and route a flight path, and Major, bring weapons, you’ll need them.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

There was a ught pause and then =/\= AwayTeam. Black Sheep leader. We are coming to your location. Be advised, we have an escort plan. Tell your ship to maintain heading and speed. Black Sheep will circle your vessel low and fast. Very low and fast. We will disrupt surface of the water to the point you will be surrounded by enough spray to block visual identification and-or the radar they seem to have. They won’t see us. They won’t see you, either. Stand by for a shower, Away Team. =/\=

Lardel, CAG

”=^= Acknowledged. =^=”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Less than two minutes later, the comms activated again.=/\= Unknown ships converging on you. Maintain course and speed. We’ll draw them off. =/\= Lardrl said.

Lardel, CAG

Lunan turned to one of the rebels, “Do these ships belong to the High Commandant?”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Just as the com-call came in Mel’i had returned so she was able to overhear the conversation “We only have the 4 ships the three that are still back there and this one if there are ships approaching us its probably the High Commandant…May I ask how they intend to draw off the Commandants forces?” she asked curiously

GMT Phoenix

“We don’t know all their methods, however, if they say they can do it then they can. It is best we comply with Colonel Lardel’s orders and maintain our course and speed.”

Naisyr, Counselor

The Mar’zek woman looked very suspicious but very shortly one of the others came running in to report the same thing She kept looking at Farrah and company “Maintain Course and Speed for now Our guests have friends who are supposedly going to do something about it…If it does not work I will be very VERY mad though” she said making sure the away team knew that she did not like what was happening one bit

GMT Phoenix

Keitah looked at the woman with wide eyes, nodded in acknowledgment, and then she clutched the XO’s arm, “How long do you think it will take them to reach us? I fear she is going to throw us overboard if they are not here soon and that would be fine except I never learned how to swim with the aid of equipment.” She whispered to him.

Naisyr, Counselor

“Shouldn’t be much longer Counsellor,” Lunan replied, “At least I hope not…”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

Mel’i went back out on deck and began shouting orders however this time the door was left open apparently now that they were underway they would be free to come out and see what was going on

GMT Phoenix

Keitah went to the door and peeked her head out. She was hoping to get a look at the landscape, some type of geological marker just in case it was needed.

It was then that the Comms of the away team crackled to life again and data began pouring into their tricorders as the sound of one of the Chimera’s Ops NE’s started speaking to them

“Ha! We are getting communication from the Chimera!” she said as a big smile came across her face.

The island they are heading two has two mountains one is an active Volcano the other is dormant…I can only give them the first level of this base. looks like the base is inside the non-Volcanic mountain I am tracking the guard patrols and will have a basic idea of their pattern in 5 minutes…”

“It looks like we will be met with guards at our destination. Any ideas on how we can avoid them?”

“The first level of the base looks to be a Large chamber 609 meters long and 304 wide with pillars of some kind every 3 meters in two rows detecting a lot of Gold used in the construction of the room Talk about gaudy! At the back of this room there seems to be some kind of alter and throne facing this to the left is a double set of doors and what looks like stairs down though I can’t see much beyond that”=^=

GMT Phoenix

“Does any of this layout for the base sound familiar to you?” she asked Mel’i “Do you know where the doors and the stairs lead to?”

Naisyr, Counselor

Lunan grinned, Counsellor Naisyr was showing a lot of leadership qualities on this away mission, a note to make on his reports later/

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

OOC the information was downloaded into your tricorders form the Chimera ops officer you all have the Patrol patterns for the guards so you will be able to avoid them if that is the plan or else you guys can totally fight them either way

Mel’i shook her head “We have had no information about the inside of his mountain base” she said just then there was a loud boom Meteors began to fall some brighter than others and carrying on long after the others burned up To the Away team this was the Fighters of the Chimera’s squadron coming in hot and fast

GMT Phoenix

Spartacus simply followed the XO and counselor’s lead. He still wasn’t certain why they were involved. But, they were so he was following.

Neidell

“Everyone get down, this could get wild.” Lunan called out over the din, they were definitely involved now and there was nothing they could do about it.

OOC: Sorry about the AWOL folks! Those of my fellow Brits may know that it is still Panto season for some theatres in the UK Iwhich is stupid but there we are)

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

All of the Mar’Zek looked at the XO as he reacted however nothing Wild ended up happening it was a peaceful journey to the island they were able to dock their ship close to the Island the Mar’Zek began to ready the ships Rowboats to take them all over to the Island so they could continue the mission

GMT Phoenix

Hesitant to get get on the rowboats that were to take them to the island, Keitah stood there and watched as they were prepared. “Should some of us stay behind she asked the XO or would you prefer we stuck together? I will do as you say, however I am not sure how much help I would be inside of the base.”

Naisyr, Counselor

OOC bump for the XO

KG

Lunan nodded, “Go with some of the Mar’Zek Counsellor, I’ll do my best to coordinate efforts from here.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

OOC: How do you want me to reword this GM? :)

-Kieron-

OOC just order the whole away team to get on the boat and head out to the island

KG

Keitah did not want to go with the Mar’zek, not by herself. “Commander, am I to go on my own? I think NE Torvalds…and Neidell should go with me. You should come too. We should stay together. Also in good conscience I cannot leave behind by yourself.”

Naisyr, Counselor

Lunan thought for a moment, chiding himself for his apparent lack of common sense throughout the course of this mission, was the XO position really starting to get to him that much? “You’re right as always Counsellor, everyone on the boat!”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

The boats were quickly lowered into the water “Now if only we can find a way to avoid having to get into a Beachhead firefight!” Mal’i said as she readied what looked like a primitive pistol smokeless powder firearm loading a 15 Round magazine into the Handgun

GMT Phoenix

“Could we come at the stronghold from a differrent angle? Maybe take a more stealthy approach?”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

OOC You guys do have the Patrol Paths in your tricorders the Chimera sent them to you when they gave you guys the first level of base layout

KG

Eventually the boat came to the Island and the Mar’Zek jumped out setting up a perimeter From the Data that was Provided from the Chimera the Away team had two options they could go in through the front door and start a massive fight or they could sneak in the side entrance which from the Data at this very moment should have nothing but a few Workers unloading supplies and no guards

GMT Phoenix

Studying his tricorder, Lunan hopped out of the boat and onto the island, “From the looks of these maps, I think that going through the side entrance, doesn’t look like it’s too heavily guarded.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-

“Stealthy Approach it is!” Mal’i Said the group moved out quickly finding the side door and going through it The chamber was as the Chimera had described a Large Rectangular chamber 609 meters long and 304 wide with pillars that were some kind of black marble 3 meters apart in two rows up the center of the chamber in the middle of the chamber was the large source of gold it was liquified in a Central rectangular area though the heat that would take to keep gold liquified was not present instead it seemed as if some kind of force field was active however should the away team scan they would find no trace of force field tech this was something completely different

GMT Phoenix

“I’m happy to let you take the lead on this, Mal’i, you certainly seem to know the layout a lot better than we do.”

-Lt. Commander Lunan Farrah: XO-
