After the party last week and the way he has been feeling, he decided it was time to do his appointment with the CNS. Plus, it was an order from the man himself. He needed to properly apologize for his actions towards her and her assistant and to get things off his chest to make his mental load lighter. Taking in a big breath and letting it out he pressed the chime on her door and waited.

Shinzo “Oni” Honda Bravo Squadron Leader

Keitah had been expecting Major Honda to arrive. She’d be lying to herself if she said she wasn’t nervous about this meeting. Instead of going to the sitting area, she decided she would conduct this session while sitting at her desk. The desk between them would give her the security she needed. Major Honda would sit in the chair directly in front of it. When she heard the chime, she called out, “Come on in Major. The door is open.”

Naisyr, Counselor

Major Honda came in wearing his dress uniform with all of his medals and badges on full display. There were a lot of them and some very high-level ones as well. Walking up to the desk he came to attention. “Major Shinzo Honda reporting Ma’am.” With that he relaxed but did not take a seat. “Thank you for agreeing to see me. First and foremost, I want to apologize for my behavior at your party the other night. That is an oversight that is in the process of being corrected so it will not happen again, here or anywhere.”

“That is quite an impressive ensemble you are wearing there.” She said as she eyed all his metals.with a smile. “Please have a seat Major.” She motioned to the chair in front of her desk. “I do appreciate the apology, however I cannot accept it because I am the one who owes you an apology.” She clasped her hands together. “I put you in an uncomfortable situation. Everything you said was right about me being insensitive.” He didn’t quite say it that way but she got the message. “I ruined what was supposed to be a fun event for you. For that, I want to apologize to you and I want to assure you I will be more mindful next time.” She paused “I hope there will be a next time.” Then she held out her hand to shake his as a truce.

He shook her hand before sitting down. “We both were not right that night and I will accept yours if you accept mine. I would love to have another get together.” He took a seat. “Thank you for the compliment about my medals. I wore this for a reason. To show you what an amazing Marine I am in and out of battle. As you can see, I wear the Special Forces Badge and was a Special Forces Commander for a period of years. I have high medals for bravery. All of this to again, show you that I should not have lost my cool at the party. I know better than that and I am better than that. Now. With that said, where do you want to begin for this formal counseling session?”

BUMP

Keitah wasn’t sure about another get-together since the last one almost ended with some of the crew of the Chimera and the Marines fighting. Although she was a trained Starfleet officer, mostly in the defensive tactics to prevent injury or harm, she preferred to avoid those types of situations. “I have no doubt you are an amazing Marine. I also admire how you came up to Ensign Harper and apologized even though he was clearly out of line since you are a higher-ranking officer than he is. That gesture was not lost on me. It does take bravery and honor to make a move like that. Also, it does tell me a lot about your personality, others would have thrown their rank around to get respect but you didn’t do that.”

“That is how I am. My people respect me with or without the rank and most people not in the military or the Fleet, do as well. It is how I present myself.”

She smiled as she stood from her desk, feeling a lot more comfortable. She went to the replicator. “Can I get you something?” she asked as she gestured toward the replicator.

“Yes. A cold beer would be nice.” He said flatly and then smiled at her. “I am kidding. A glass of orange juice would be great.”

“To start I would like to know more about you. Your nickname Oni you said it means demon? Tell me how you got it.”

Naisyr, Counselor

He smiled a wicked smile before telling her and accepting the glass of juice and took a sip before continuing. “Oni are mostly known for their fierce and evil nature manifested in their propensity for murder and cannibalism. The later is what got me my nickname. Being Japanese helped as well. Notwithstanding their evil reputation, Oni possess intriguingly complex aspects that cannot be brushed away simply as evil. They are typically portrayed as hulking figures with one or more horns growing out of their heads but can come in wide range of sizes. They are creatures which instill fear and feelings of danger due to their grotesque outward appearance, their wild and sometimes strange behavior and their powers. That is why the Samurai of the past wore those masks in combat. It was to instill fear into their opponents. My flight helmet looks like an old samurai helmet. Oni have the ability to sneak up on people and or not be seen unless they wanted to. I too share this trait. I have snuck up many enemies and have killed them without them or others around noticing. If I can. I always try to cut a piece of their flesh off and eat it. It started off with ears but they were too crunchy and bit enough meat, then ier eyes but they were too squishy. So the best part is the inner forearm or upper chest. That is why earlier I said that the later was how I truly got my nickname. And yes. If you are wondering. I am being serious. I have won a few battles with just the mention of my name.” He cooly took another drink of his juice.

Major Shinzo “Oni” Honda, Bravo Squadron Leader

“I see.” Said Keitah, “May I ask a question? Why have you picked such a fearsome creature to represent yourself? It seems your have even taken on the characteristics and traits of this being. Is it important to you that people or other beings fear you?”
