As Vega stood outside the door to the ship’s counselling office, her heart pounded like the steady thrum of the ship’s engines. Anticipation and apprehension wrestled within her, swirling in a mix of emotions. She had contemplated this moment for weeks, knowing deep down that seeking counsel was a step she needed to take. Yet, time and again, she had found excuses to postpone it, allowing the pressures of duty and routine to be a priority over her well-being.

Today, however, felt different. The weight of her thoughts and feelings had become too heavy to bear alone. She knew she couldn’t continue to ignore the whispers of doubt and turmoil that lingered within her mind. It was time to confront them, to unravel the tangled threads of her psyche and find a path forward.

Summoning every ounce of courage she possessed, Vega took a deep breath, inhaling the sterile yet comforting scent of the ship’s interior. The corridor stretched before her, empty and silent, save for the soft hum of distant machinery. With trembling fingers, she reached out and pressed the chime, the sound resonating through the quiet space like a beacon of determination.

As Keitah waited inside the counseling office she prepared herself mentally to move as efficiently as possible through the counseling session with Ensign Dal.

Suddenly, the familiar chime echoed through the room, signaling Vega’s arrival. Keitah straightened in her chair, her senses heightened with anticipation of their first meeting. She glanced at the door expectantly, her hands resting calmly on her desk as she extended an invitation for her to enter the room, “You may enter, Ensign Dal.”

Lieutenant Naisyr
(Counselor)

As Vega stepped into the counseling office, her emotions surged like a tumultuous storm within her. Anxiety gnawed at her insides, twisting her stomach into knots. Depression weighed heavy on her shoulders. A sense of loss loomed large in her heart, echoing with the absence of something she once had but now seemingly lost. Uncertainty clouded her thoughts, casting doubt on every decision she had ever made. “Lieutenant” she said in greeting.

Keitah observed Vega’s entrance with curiosity. As she stepped forward, Keitah noted some tension in her posture.
“Please, have a seat, Ensign Dal,” Keitah said gently, gesturing towards the chair opposite her desk. She waited for her to take a seat before she began.

“Thank you for coming, Ensign,” Keitah began, her voice gentle yet firm. “This session shouldn’t take too long unless there is something on your mind you would like to discuss. In any case, I’m here to listen, to support you in whatever way I can. Whatever you’re comfortable sharing, know that this is a safe space.”

Lieutenant Naisyr
(Counselor)

Taking a seat opposite the counselor’s desk, Vega shifted uncomfortably, feeling the weight of her doubts pressing down on her. She had always prided herself on her strength and resilience, but lately, she found herself questioning everything. Doubts crept into her mind, casting shadows on her sense of self. Was she truly in control of her own destiny, or was she merely a vessel for the memories and experiences of her previous hosts?

“Thank you for seeing me,” she began tentatively, her gaze flickering with uncertainty. “I… I’m not sure where to start. There’s just so much on my mind lately, and I don’t know how to make sense of it all, I feel like I’m losing myself not Dal but me Vega.”

Keitah nodded, her expression empathetic as she listened to Vega’s words. She could sense the weight of Vega’s struggles and the depth of her uncertainty.

“It’s okay, Vega,” Keitah replied softly, using her name to reassure her that she was seen and heard. “Take your time. You’re in a safe space here, and whatever you share will be kept in confidence. You mentioned feeling like you’re losing yourself and not Dal.but Vega? I must admit I dont quite understandwhat you mean.. Can you tell me more about that? Also what specifically is troubling you?”

Lieutenant Naisyr
(Counselor)

As Vega sat across from the counselor, her nerves clenched like a fist in her stomach, tightening with each passing moment. Opening up about her inner turmoil felt like navigating uncharted territory, a daunting prospect she wasn’t sure she was ready to confront. Yet, the gentle encouragement from Lieutenant Naisyr spurred her to take the first hesitant steps. “I… I’ve been struggling lately,” she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. “Since I’ve been joined, and more recently, I’ve felt like I’m having difficulty identifying myself. It’s… it’s harder than I thought it would be. I feel torn between what I understand as a joined Trill and my commitment as Dal and who I am as an individual, as Vega.” Her words hung in the air, heavy with the weight of her uncertainty and self-doubt.
