(Open to everyone)

Priscilla had arrived the day before, was all checked in and had seen to the morning briefing. There wasn’t much currently happening in the Science Department, so she had decided once everything was settled and everyone was about their business, she would see to her little project.

The young woman had been studying fatigue and space anomalies on ship metals since she could remember. Even as a child, she wondered why space stations didn’t blow apart from the inside from the atmospheric pressure. And she was curious how come some ships made it fine under warp speeds and others didn’t. So when she saw the fighters detach from the hull of the ship that had brought her here, she realized she had another opportunity to study those affects. Fighters weren’t meant for the rigors and speeds of warp. So how had they fared on the hull of the warp speed ship that brought them here?

She had a tricorder in hand, and was walking amongst the various craft in the hanger till she found one that resembled what had come from the transport. A smile of peace was on her face as she hummed and walked around it. Here and there she held out the device to get a scan of the craft. Metal fatigue, space debris, anything the recorder would pick up. She wasn’t touching it… but was extremely close.

Braxton noticed something peculiar from the hangar windows and rushed to investigate. “Lieutenant.” he said sharply. “What are you doing?”

Harris, XO

At the same time, the CAG arrived with a pair of Marines. “Same question. And get away from my fighters and let me see that.” and he held out his hand for her scanner. His words were blunt, but his tone flat and professional.

Lardel, CAG

Rebecca had been about to answer the XO when a hand reached for her tricorder, demanding it. Seeing only rank at first, on the large Marine before her, she did as she was told. She glanced to the officer before her, then back to the XO. Unable at this range to see the rank, she erred on the side of betterment and addressed both men as higher ranks they were due.

“Lieutenant Rebecca Morrison,” she stated to the CAG first. “I was merely taking metal fatigue readings from the ships I was able to safely reach within the hangar. I have had hangar safety training and been cleared on my last station. I also was in the hangar on the Behemoth as well.” She was professional and courteous and stood with hands clasped before her as she awaited the responses.

The tricorder would show no classified data, merely the chemical compound makeup of the metal and paint she had scanned as well as the fact it was ‘within normal range, no anomalous readings’.

Lardel looked at her and then to the XO. “Sir. I’d appreciate it if you could tell your staff that the hanger bay isn’t a lab or a play area. No admittance without clearing it with my office first.” and he looked back at the Lieutenant. “Your last station wasn’t my hangar. My hangar is Marine Squadron personnel only. You have no idea the kinds of activity we have here, Lieutenant. I suggest you ask next time before just wandering the flight operations area. It’d be a shame if you got hurt… or worse… because you were somewhere you shouldn’t be and we didn’t know. This is the only warning you get. Spread the word?” he asked in a not necessarily questioning fashion, and he handed her scanner back to her and then looked at the XO to see if he had anything to add.

Lardel, CAG

“Major this is your department. Starfleet officers are trained to not interfere with any non Starfleet areas. Have your Marines stand down.”

Harris, XO

Hannibal nodded and simply looked back at the two Marines who nodded in return and moved away.

She watched the interaction between the two then looked at Lardel as he addressed her. Listening to his words, she realized, professionally as it was, she knew a spanking when she got one. But she had to admit, he was professional and she couldn’t fault him for that. “Yes, Sir. I understand.” She took back he scanner and nodded in respect. “I would like to request a moment of your time, tomorrow perhaps, when I could discuss with you the criteria necessary for me having the training and clearance to come to the hanger on a rare occasion. With yours and his permissions of course.” She nodded to he man in the booth. “And I will be sure others know as well.”

Hannibal looked at the XO and then back to her said “As the Commander said, Lieutenant. This is the Marine flight area. I do not have the inclination to allow you access to this bay without escort and at least seventy-two hours notice in advance. I just dont see any justifiable reason Science needs to be on the flight deck, unless you are hitching a ride somewhere. Nor do I have the time to train someone that isnt actually working on or directly supporting flight operations.”

An alarm sounded and Lardel said ” Launch in two minutes. We gotta move. Let’s take this back to my office.” and without any look to see if the XO and CSO were following, he walked away towards the exit off the flight area.

Lardel, CAG

“Sounds reasonable…” she smiled. For the most part she added to herself.

To her credit, the klaxon didn’t make her jump. She nodded to the CAG and followed him out of the hangar area.

Braxton followed behind.

Harris, XO

Arriving at the CAG’s office, Rebecca moved in and stepped left to give the XO room to follow and come in. She glanced around to see how the room was, with the idea that she knew he hadn’t had time to settle in. Though as she watched the man move into the space he dominated by both position and aura, she straightened up a touch more, and clasped her hands in front of her.

The room was bare save for a desk and two chairs. But a few cargo crates were neatly stacked in on corner. A window looked out over the flight deck.

“Please be seated.” he said to both people and gestured the XO to a chair.

Lardel, CAG

“Nice view,” Rebecca stated as she glanced back before taking her seat. After the XO had seated, she looked to the CAG. “I’m pretty sure your first question will be what the hell was I doing in your hanger? May I please speak freely and tell you why I was here, Sir?” She was polite, almost to a fault. But with both the CAG and XO here, this was not the time for someone to get uppity and belligerent. Especially having been on the ship only a few days.
